RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Roan - Aug. 01, 2008 Bey Brad Wrote:Kei Wrote:I don't have any problems with the PS3's online capabilities. For what it does, it does well. I am just a few clicks away from battling some dude (or a friend) online in SCIV and that is good enough for me. I don't believe you have to add a friend twice on PS3 games, or at least for the ones I own. Also, there is voice chat in and out of battle in SCIV. HAHAHAHA RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Artie Wrote:911 Wrote:You only say it sucks because you need more friends with PS3s. For me, that's not much of a problem because 1) I don't play Online, and 2) many of my friends have a PS3. Yet you're putting words in my mouth, I never mentioned the paid service that is Live(And don't give me that "Free For a Limited Time" BS, or when you get a free card if your 360 RRODs) did I? You're compairing free to something you're paying for. For a person like me who couldn't care for online(I'd rather play game with my friends at my house), the PSN does what I need it to. So for me, it doesn't suck. Seriously, the only people who've I ever seen complain about PSN are people who own a 360, and are compairing it to a paid service, and to a service that had years of a head start. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 Pretty sure you're paying for PSN. You're paying for it when you buy the system. And even if your argument made sense (which it doesn't), it's still fair to compare them. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Bey Brad Wrote:Pretty sure you're paying for PSN. You were the one to suggest the only reason I say PSN sucks for the reasons you aforementioned. Do you even know how to hold an intelligent debate? And of course a paid service is going to be better than a free service, we're not all idiots. The point we're making is some people are trying to make it as PSN and XBL are equals...and they are most certainly not. As for you last point, you can never miss what you've never had. PSN lacks a ton of key features XBL has, which is why people who have a 360 are so wrong to expect similar (not the same) features? It really isn't that ridiculous. At this point I would stop arguing with me because you're arguing not only semantics, but arguing for the sake of being argumentative. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 You certainly were sounding like what you called an "idiot"(not my words, yours), since you were compairing free with paid. Ever think that because it is free that it is allowed to be behind? As well, it isn't like Sony's not trying, evident in Firmware update 2.41, which is good since Sony had no community for their previous console, unlike Microsoft (again, that whole "years lead" thing). Like honestly, do you enjoy being troll bait? RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 911 Wrote:Bey Brad Wrote:Pretty sure you're paying for PSN. You're paying for it when you buy the system. Please explain how you're not. PSN is one of the marketed features of the Playstation 3. When you buy the PS3, you are paying for your PSN membership. If Sony offered a paid, better version of PSN then maybe you would have a point. But they don't, so you don't. PSN is directly competing with XBL whether you want to admit it or not. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - mdhvdukshsj - Aug. 01, 2008 Comparing =! claiming they are very similar But you can't even refute any of my logical points, so you resort to ad hominem attacks. Enjoy your strawman arguments in other topics, please. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Bey Brad Wrote:911 Wrote:Bey Brad Wrote:Pretty sure you're paying for PSN. You're paying for it when you buy the system. Under that logic then within two year of Live service there is no price difference(unless that whole $199 Arcade rumor is true). And the only people who I've recently seen market free PSN membership are retailers, very little do I see Sony reps (who aren't Developer reps) saying "Did we mention, PSN is free?", nor do I see them in PS3 ads (It's more so, we have games that they don't, buy us, or that creepy doll). They more or less mention that PSN is a baby, and admit that they have a long ways to go. Artie, I'll stop when you stop being troll-bait, honestly, don't you think saying PSN sucks is going to upset people? Are you getting off on this or something? Like all the time with you its "PS3 sucks, PSN Sucks, Uncharted is carp despite high acollades,etc.". RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - mdhvdukshsj - Aug. 01, 2008 While its not that strong of an argument, he makes a valid point: nothing is ever free. When you buy a Sony console those funds are definitely being used for PSN operating costs. It's just not subscription based. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 Look, it's not Microsoft's problem that Sony only markets a sub-par "free" online service and not a fleshed-out paid service. Sony offers no subscription based model, so PSN has to be compared to XBL. Stop being such a fanboy. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - SexyMichael - Aug. 01, 2008 Considering XBL only costs about $4 a month, Sony could be doing a whole lot better to compete. And the one year head start argument is lame. Both companies have the money and technology, system age means nothing. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Artie Wrote:While its not that strong of an argument, he makes a valid point: nothing is ever free. For some reason I doubt that, apparently Sony has only recently started making money off every PS3 sold, so if they were losing money on each console sold, how would money they lost go to the PSN? It's quite clear it's the games that are keeping PSN alive and in-game adverts, much like what in-game adverts will keep Home alive once that launchs(in 15 years ofcourse). RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 911 Wrote:Artie Wrote:While its not that strong of an argument, he makes a valid point: nothing is ever free. None of this addresses the fact that PSN is Sony's competition against XBL and it pales in comparison. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - mdhvdukshsj - Aug. 01, 2008 911 Wrote:Artie Wrote:While its not that strong of an argument, he makes a valid point: nothing is ever free. Look, I'm going to make this simple enough so you can understand it: PSN costs money to operate (server costs etcetera). Brad's argument is that the profit/funds used from the sale of PS3 pays for those costs. Thus, indirectly you ARE paying for it. I'm not a big proponent of the argument, but it's arguable. Also, stop being such an Aunt Sally, christ. You do this all the time. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 SexyMichael Wrote:Considering XBL only costs about $4 a month, Sony could be doing a whole lot better to compete. I never mentioned System age, I said Service age, PSN launched in 2006. When did Live launch? Wasn't that back in 2002 with the launch of the original Xbox? Since no one keeps their service from day one the same Sony had a lot of notes to take, and they still are, but I can wait for free forever service, than how ever much a year(It may or may not be $52, I don't look at my brother's bills). RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 Why are you making apologies for a corporation's shortcomings in competing with their competitor's product? Do you not have an identity of your own or something? RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - mdhvdukshsj - Aug. 01, 2008 Xbox Live features that launched with the 360 Not that big of a headstart. Also lol, deleted old post on accident. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Artie Wrote:Xbox Live features that launched with the 360 I see Avatars on that list, wasn't that announced last month? For sure it launched in 2005. Can't really trust that list. As well, a lot of those features are in PSN. Not all, but a lot, most of it is optional for developers to put in their games though. That's not PSN's fault, that's the developers of those games fault for not taking the time to implement those services(I'm still surprised Virtua Fighter 5 isn't online on PS3, there is no excuse for that). RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Blue - Aug. 01, 2008 Your right, sorry for the garbage post. I for the simple fact that its free (ok subsidized sure), I have no reason to be unhappy with PSN. It could be like Nintendo friend codes.. The reason I dugg up that RROD sentiment I regardless of how good LIVE is, my principals will not allow me to make Microsofts Xbox division any richer. I dunno really how so many shrugged it off, but I would not want to give them a dollar more. I know really it should be about the games, but for me I boycott them. I do not understand how QC and product testing let slide that much. Keep in mind I am baised to PS. lol they got me good. Competition is good too haha but really I didn't like the first Xbox because of the carp ad campain with the dude putting X's everywhere in chalk. I dunno what he was try to prove. Show some games instead. then all MS did was take a PC and shove into a terrible looking Plastic case called it a console. PS2 NGC were way more specialty hardware. IMO it was kinda like half assed, insult to what consoles usually were. w.e. I had bit of a rant. pardon RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 Blue Wrote:w.e. Please don't post if you have nothing to add ... RROD is hardly a relevant issue now. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Bey Brad Wrote:Blue Wrote:w.e. Tell that to the people who are have sent their RROD 360's to Microsoft only to get a refurbished one that later RROD. It's still happening, not as much as before, maybe that new birdy chipset (Falcon? Eagle?) will finally fix that for good, and maybe Microsoft would stop using RROD victimed 360s as Refurbs and clear them from that channel. Anywhos, Atari is still alive, Alone In The Dark shifted 1.2 Million copies, and DragonBall Z: Burst Limit shifted almost a million copies. Decent numbers for a game that was critically destroyed, and decent numbers from a game that got good reception(other than a few European sites that gave the game 2.5 and 3 out of 10, Atari bashing me thinks). Legit Question: Does 360 allow you to record gameplay onto your HD or external memory? Or do you need a video tuner card and connect it to your PC? RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Aug. 01, 2008 911 Wrote:Tell that to the people who are have sent their RROD 360's to Microsoft only to get a refurbished one that later RROD. Yes, but there's no use bringing it up now considering Microsoft has fessed to the problem ages ago and is fixing all of them. :\ RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 01, 2008 Bey Brad Wrote:911 Wrote:Tell that to the people who are have sent their RROD 360's to Microsoft only to get a refurbished one that later RROD. Yeah, but you'd have to be naive not to think there are still RROD plagued 360s in the refurbished channel for sure. Which is why I'm holding off on buying that $160 Pro Refurb. Lol at SCIV, it got rocked by P.S.P in Japan on launch day. RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Aug. 02, 2008 Whoa a new Parasite Eve on PSP! I'm excited for that, that Final Fantasy XIII Agito(Vegeto?) game, not so much. |
