RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Wizard - Jul. 12, 2012 I hope you called the police. A lot of manga magazines in Japan regularly hold contests to see who can submit the best manga. You get to read about these a lot on Bakuman. ![]() ![]() RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - DefStamina88 - Jul. 12, 2012 (Jul. 12, 2012 4:48 PM)Syncrystal Wrote: So my jaw pops loudly during the mornings now. What does this even mean? I have the same problem. It's not really a fixable thing. I heard it's a dental issue, that you don't have enough space in your mouth for wisdom teeth, or maybe just crowding... I'd keep an eye on it and if it starts hurting, talk to a dentist about treatment for pain... RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - sarabscientist - Jul. 12, 2012 I burned my foot with a steam mop today. #epicfail RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - bugturtles - Jul. 13, 2012 (Jul. 12, 2012 4:48 PM)Syncrystal Wrote: So my jaw pops loudly during the mornings now. What does this even mean? Mine does this daily. Turns out I have TMJ, which when explained to me, is my jaw pushing its way into my ear-drum area. Eventually it will cause vertigo and other things. Continual and/or a lot of stress on the jaw makes things worse. I got jaw pain from such stress, which included biting down really hard for sustained periods of time, chewing gum, leaning my hand/weight on it, etc. Before I knew I had TMJ, I went to my doctor about the pain. Aleve did not work for me (and it's my off-the-counter pain medication of choice), and was prescribed pain killers which were also an anti-inflammatory. After going to the dentist, he suggested that I should not take them as much. I would only take them in the case of severe and continual jaw pain (which for me signaled inflammation in the jaw area), then stop once the pain went away for a few days. If I don't do the aforementioned activities, it doesn't come back, but I still have it pop in the morning. There is therapy for it but it is really expensive. In my case I don't need therapy as soon as possible, but eventually I'll have to bite the bullet. This doesn't mean YOU have TMJ, but it is a possibility. You should maybe go to the dentist and ask. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 13, 2012 Hey. I have a blog, you know, this one: http://pchelpblogs.blogspot.com/ Does anyone have tips to increasing traffic? I mean, I will begin to post more often, and I think my posts have pretty good quality, so what else should I do? I've just found kittens in my grandma's backyard. They seem to be starving, and me and Kitty0328 (my sister) really want to help them. Problem is that their on someone else's property, and they seem not to be taking care of them. I don't know if the kittens are theirs, or just street cats. What can we do to help these helpless creatures? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - DefStamina88 - Jul. 14, 2012 (Jul. 13, 2012 10:50 PM)Hacked Wrote: Urgent! You probably just need to ask the neighbors, and if they don't belong to them, take them in... If it's one thing I hate more than dead foxes, it's dead cats.... RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 If you don't know whether or not their mother is around, you should not do anything. If you do know that she is around, and she seems to be nursing, you should not do anything. If you cannot legally access their property, you should not do anything. Kittens can often look quite scrawny while still being healthy. Do not, under ANY circumstances, give them any milk or anything whatsoever until you know for an absolute fact their mother is not nursing them. If they're under 8 weeks old, or do not have all their teeth in, they'd need KMR Kitten Formula(I usually use the canned sort, but the powdered formula works just as well) until they were old enough to move up to wet food. Do not give them dairy milk of any kind, ever - even in a state of starvation, it will do them more harm than good. The real caveat is that once you start feeding them, they will become dependant on you. So, unless you are fully prepared to handle the responsibility, and know for an absolute fact that these kittens have no mother or food source available, leave them alone. I've been rescuing cats for about ten years, now, and I've hand-raised and bottle fed half a dozen litters in the last two years alone. It is not easy, it is not cheap, and it is not something that someone with a weak heart should really volunteer for because, even under the best of circumstances, kittens are prone to dying for no medically explainable reason. Current cat population on my property is in excess of 50 outdoors(around 28 of which were born this last mating season - they all get to a certain age and then leave, aside from the breeders), and 5 indoors. I actually just got done worming some timebomb kittens today. It's difficult to say to anyone, but quite frankly, if you don't know what you're doing, you're more of a danger to those animals than any natural force. There are hundreds of websites and resources you can use online, though, and I'd suggest using google if you really are quite insistent upon doing something. Wow Hazel, quite the collection, no? When did that collection start? Man, I would like to have cats as pets, but my allergies would probably have an affect... What kind of stuff would it take to take care of an outdoor or indoor cat? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 I don't collect them, haha. Most of them were here when I moved, since we have so much property and it's out in the country - and it really only takes two cats to eventually turn into an amount like this. Cats have always been on this property, as long as I've been alive... since I've gotten here, the population has gone up, though, because I'm keeping so many of them around by treating worms and upper respiratory infections and such. We have nowhere to take them(there aren't any humane shelters around), and can't afford to get them all fixed, so... we just take care of them. Cats are not for everyone, so before you go off wanting one, you may want to read up - again, this is one of the things the internet's vast resources could explain better than I can. Generally, though, once you've gotten them on a good diet, got them litter trained, and housebroken so they know what is and is not a toy, it's kind of cruise controlled. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 14, 2012 I didn't do anything, the mother is nursing but with shortage of food. My sis wanted to help feed them, but I knew they were going to depend. Should I go ask the people living next door? There backyard is actually a dump of old toys from their how with a lychee tree in it. I don't think the cats belong to the people because I saw then jump over the fence from another house and into their backyard. Queens is full of cats. o_0 RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 As long as the mother is nursing, they should be fine. The people upon whose property they live should be consulted about doing anything, and I'd recommend just getting some cheap dry food and a feeder and putting it back there, if they're willing. If not, then it's better to just let them do whatever they want. Directly feeding the mother wet food will quadruple your likelihood of creating a dependency, so it should be avoided if possible. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 14, 2012 Okay. Thank you so very much. I can always count on you, Hazel, for the most detailed and informative answers. Guess Ill be going next door. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 Keep in mind that your neighbor may be reluctant to set up any feeder or wet food because it will definitely attract more cats to the area. If you have a humane shelter within reasonable distance, I'd recommend trying to get them to it, so they can care for them. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 No, it just means I'm shilling out for around 100lb of dry cat food a month, and around 50 cans of wet food. And even with only 5 of them being indoors, I run through around 100lb of cat litter a month, as well. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Wizard - Jul. 14, 2012 Hah, how much does this usually cost you? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 Typically in the range of 200-250 dollars a month for all of it. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Sparta - Jul. 14, 2012 And how on earth did you name them all? Did you give every one of them a name of a WBO member they looked like or something? That's a lot of carp, too, lol. Must be fun to clean up ![]() RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 14, 2012 Naming animals isn't really difficult for me, but a few of them do lack names. Many of them are outright feral, and not really nice to people - none are aggressive, but many are antisocial. I'd say only about 25-30 of them allow humans to touch them, and about half of that let you pick them up. Cleaning up after only five cats really isn't that difficult, if done often enough. I'm sure if I waited too long, though... RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Sparta - Jul. 14, 2012 Ah, I hear you. That's kinda why I like dogs - some can be very mean, but many really prefer human company. IN any case, they tend to be a little more social with humans than cats. Speaking of dogs, mine got back from her surgery the other night...it was $6,000 total for it. She has really bad hips, so we had to choose either help her with a really expensive surgery or put her down. We chose the surgery. Keep in mind that we still have another that we have to do (She needs two hip joints replaced with metal things), but for now we're just doing the one. It all went well, but the poor dog isn't even allowed to stand up ![]() RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Clonetos - Jul. 14, 2012 hey did you guys hear about viacom and directv? I hear a carp storm has been brewing and not its finally hit the fan. Apparently viacom wants to raise the bill for customers by 30% and directv said no leading to this....any thoughts on this? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Xander - Jul. 15, 2012 Clonetos, yeah I heard, my dad has DirecTV. DirecTV is on thin ice with me, they dropped G4, and now they seem to be going through yet another contract dispute, that happens fairly often IIRC. My dad's contract with them ends next month, maybe I should convince him to switch to Comcast... All in all though, I don't watch much TV anymore, most of what Viacom has to offer doesn't interest me, save for Comedy Central. As long as I can watch Cartoon Network on Saturdays, I'll survive, its my brother and sister who are addicted to Nickelodeon. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 15, 2012 Going to buy a new Samsung Galaxy Y. Do you guys know any cool features of this phone, and any apps you recommend? I'm getting the phone Monday, because me and my sis have to upgrade our phones, and my sis lost her's. |
