RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 11, 2012 Honestly, if my desire to complete the beywiki were a major factor in impeding a thread I feel could help spread information about plastics and strengthen the plastics community as a whole, I would drop that desire in an instant. I could happily take care of spam and so on, and there are relatively fewer younger people into plastics, knowing about them either requires age or some form of experience, and I think there are enough people who are knowledgeable to handle a thread like that. There are a lot of questions about plastics, a lot of things we don't know about, a lot more to say. I'm sorry, but your point is quite a terrible one... RE: Make your suggestions! - Ultra - Feb. 11, 2012 We already have a plastic tier list from ages ago that's been forgotten about. Also 1000 parts? That is a massive exaggeration. While parts from MFB are reused more often there were quite a few that were used many times over. Um also everything has not been talked over. If anyone wants one I'll make a plastics top tier combos/parts in like 10 minutes. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 11, 2012 It's okay, I have an updated version of the list of my own that I've been working on, I will be posting it within the next few days. I am just organising it and sorting some stuff out. So yeah, I didn't forget about it, haha. That said, if you think there's something I'll overlook, shoot me a PM Anyway, Janstarblast and I have discussed it in PM, as to why and how much I think a thread such as this will help plastics, and why I think even a completed wiki could not substitute for a thread such as that, and I think I've clarified the situation for him adequately RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Feb. 11, 2012 th!nk, so you want four threads, or two depending on how you see it ? - Questions about HMS (and plastics) (- Questions about Plastics) - General discussion of HMS (and plastics) (- General discussion of Plastics) RE: Make your suggestions! - Zeo Kaien - Feb. 12, 2012 i just made this account today so iwanted to know if basalt really band from tournements RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Feb. 12, 2012 Basalt was never banned. Obviously, only if it were fine by you to have the general discussion threads, but I certainly think they could do a lot of good. Like, Plastics Random Thoughts or something, you know? Seems that's where this idea has progressed, anyway. Furthermore, I was thinking, in the first post of one of the two threads for each system, maintaining a list of ongoing questions that we cannot currently answer. There are a lot of questions about the earlier accessories and launchers (#29 Power Shooter, for example), various reclours (that blue dragoon V2, for example), as well as certain hasbro releases (mostly the ones where they added engine gears, particularly what weight disks hasbro used, and whether certain things were released), that we probably won't be able to find an answer for unless someone who can answer it realises that they have the answer to such a question. Between the relative isolation of Takara beybladers from Hasbro Bladers when plastics were available (as well as a few books published by takara), there is a lot we can't answer, stuff that just simply doesn't seem to be out there at all (the missing H-Code releases for example, we just don't know what happened there, but who knows, someone might). I don't know if it's the same for HMS, but for plastics, there is still a whole range of questions we simply won't be able to answer until the right person comes along, and I'd like to give those people the best chance of stumbling upon the fact they can answer them. There's plenty of interest in plastics and HMS, if you look at the buying forum, and I think a couple of dedicated threads, at least, would help to bring these communities together more. Maybe I'm just crazy from my immersion in ABS, but yeah, I think it would help more of us connect. RE: Make your suggestions! - Poseidon - Feb. 12, 2012 After like every 15 a guest is online, should a pop-up come up saying to join the WBO, it might help increase member, considering we have always got more guests online than members. That would be annoying as hell. RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Feb. 12, 2012 I kind of think that's the point. But we don't want to force people into creating memberships for the hell of it - when people want to post and contribute, then they will sign up, and it will be the right thing for them to do. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 12, 2012 "JOIN NOW" popups and stuff are as bad as lengthy flash intros. Horrible, and tacky. One of my least favourite website design choices, hah. RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Feb. 13, 2012 There are plugins to force guests to register after viewing x number of posts/threads, but it is just not in the philosophy of this organisation. th!nk, hm, so four topics ? RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 13, 2012 Yes, if you would not mind, of course. Also, whilst I did suggest I could write a joint OP, I definitely could not write a plastics OP, I would definitely leave that to someone with a better idea of, and more interest in, them. RE: Make your suggestions! - Kai-V - Feb. 13, 2012 I suppose you can go ahead. The best way to think about it now is to test it. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 13, 2012 Of course. I will write up OP's for, and create, the plastics threads once I've had some sleep, I think. As for HMS, I don't know enough about HMS to know who would be suitable, and it would need to be well written and so on. Gahooleone or Ultra may be able to, outside of the committed. That said, once I've written my plastic thread OP's, it should merely be finding someone dedicated enough to manage a thread like that (though, HMS should have an easier time than plastics, as far as I can tell), and adapting it... Thank you very much for the opportunity RE: Make your suggestions! - Poseidon - Feb. 13, 2012 I think Arupaeo should do it, he's a mod, and knows quite alot about HMS anyway. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 13, 2012 I was leaning towards that, if he has the time/wants to. I'm still yet to sleep, by the way (yay sleeping patterns ), and as such yet to write out the plastics threads. That said, I don't know if you guys would need someone to maintain a list in the OP or anything, of course. RE: Make your suggestions! - Arupaeo - Feb. 13, 2012 From an information standpoint I'm still an HMS novice really. I'm learning more about what happens in particular match ups, but still don't have the knowledge necessary to speak intelligently about the series in general or off the cuff. My strategic thinking in HMS is more or less limited to "cookbook combos" as well, and I would be hard pressed to describe the theory behind any choices I would make. All that to say I would hope someone with years of experience in HMS would come forward instead. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 13, 2012 Ultra would be a good choice, especially as Kei is probably exhausted from the huge amount of work he's been doing on beywiki in the last month. I expect he'd be very glad to do it, anyways. EDIT: Yep. And the threads shall be made soon, I'll edit this post when they are. EDIT: Plastics Threads Are Go! : Plastics Q&A, Plastics General Discussion. The HMS threads should be along in a little, when Ultra has them ready to post. RE: Make your suggestions! - LeonTempest - Feb. 24, 2012 1st off, I would like to give gratz to th!nk and Ultra for thier outsanding Plastic and HMS threads. Nice to see those come to pass. Next, Kei still hasnt posted a reaction to the wiki team idea...hmm...he is busy I suppose? 3rd, just a small idea, and probobly not worth doing, but I have noticed that some users have many faces, which expands the size of thier posts by a signifigant amount. Perhaps to prevent this, a new icon is created that lists the number of faces that user has (if any at all) and when clicked, it then reveals which faces that user has. Like a spoiler? To give you an example, Arupaeo has 31 faces, so instead of seeing all 31 faces, you see an icon and a number below his beyrank. This icon would represent the faces themselves, and the number next to it would represent the number of faces the user has (in this case it would be 31). Upon clicking either the icon or number, all of Arupaeo's faces would display as they are now on our screens. RE: Make your suggestions! - th!nk - Feb. 24, 2012 They have all done much better than I thought they would, honestly. I don't think he was particularly keen on it, from what I could discern Man, if I'm scrolling past your signature, you're scrolling past Deikailo's faces. All 52 of them. RE: Make your suggestions! - LeonTempest - Feb. 24, 2012 Personaly, I think something like that would have done even better if it was released around the time of Plastic and HMS Rememberence, but so long as we have it, I can't complain. They are doing great, and have exceded far beyond our expectations. Well done. I would rather than the idea not get thrown under the bus so hastly simply because Kei isn't "keen" on the idea. It deserves more attention outside of this thread, and Kei especialy should consider and acknowlage the pros and cons from a realistic and task oriented standpoint. If he is concerned about a loss of power, which I don't think he is, as Kei does not seem to be that type person (I could be wrong, but I will give him the benifit of the doubt) then he shouldnt worry, as he would be the one leading this team, which he would hand pick himself. Shortned my sig =P. Removed my connections spoiler, my sig needed some house cleaning anyway. RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Feb. 24, 2012 I find it amusing that you think simply because you cannot see a discussion, that it is not happening. Truly. Rest assured, it is not being ignored or discarded. However, better things have been suggested, and more importantly, quite a few articles have been put up. Don't rock the boat. RE: Make your suggestions! - LeonTempest - Feb. 24, 2012 We have talked about this before on this thread actualy. You cannot just expect your community to know or assume anything and everything. If anything at all, the majority of us have been told not to assume anything. If I was to go around claiming that the committee is discusing apples simply because apples have been mentioned by committee members, I would be sure to be yelled at, and rightfuly so. Unless you directly, not indirectly, not through implication, tell people that a discussion is going on, we cannot just know what is happening. What is painfuly obvious to you may not be to everyone else. Do not interpret this as, "Tell me all about what you talk about in a private message" but you get the idea. I frankly dont care if you dont announce everything to us, it makes no difference to me, just dont tell me that I am wrong for not assuming something. That is all I ask. I am glad, however, to see that discussion about this is going on, and I look foward to hearing about it in the future when a final decision is made. RE: Make your suggestions! - Hazel - Feb. 24, 2012 Typically if things have been discussed for this long, without any real definitive answer or interjection from a Blue, that is because we are discussing it amongst ourselves. Suggestions are usually discussed to some length amongst us unless they are outright insipid from the ground up, or if they're just not feasible. Be patient. More articles have gone up in the last couple of weeks than in almost the entire year preceding it. |
