I'm a freshman, and I think high school's enough time to start thinking about relationships. But, it's not like you date to date, nor are you trying to find the perfect one. You guys missed the third answer: dating to learn. To learn about other people, what works in a relationship, what doesn't. How to treat a girl/boy, how to not. When you date, you begin to understand these things so you'll be ready when you try to find that someone. RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - Temporal - Sep. 05, 2011 This. (Well, I'm a terribly nerdy person, so maybe this isn't the best approach for me, hah. If anything, I've learned that I need a job. While nobody I know has heard any complaints, and my girlfriend's sister keeps saying how she is enjoying herself, being broke on a "date" SUCKS. It makes me feel like I'm the lowest, cheapest guy in the world. Especially down on the lakefront, where all of the couples are buying stuff for each other, usually the guy buying stuff for the girl, and I have lint in my pockets if I'm lucky.) Not once did you mention in that post how you feel about going out with her. RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - .:J:. - Sep. 06, 2011 lol nice one sparta, so by chase do you mean you would want to ask her out again or not? i get confused in this stuff easily... I meant that she has asked me out multiple times last summer because she wanted to make up again, and I said no. I got it, thanks guys! I'll say no, because otherwise it teaches her that she can just toy with me and break up/ask me out at will. RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - .:J:. - Sep. 06, 2011 this'll sound sexist, but you kinda have to be stronger mentally than girls, or else they will break up with you and toy with you, if you are stronger than they won't bother with you if they don't like you... RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - Temporal - Sep. 06, 2011 I think he means that you have to show more maturity than the average stereotype of the male. We're normally perceived to be superficial idiots, and as a result, you have to work harder to earn the respect of someone and avoid the situation Nwolf just described. Maybe not "mentally stronger", but more dedicated to the relationship? RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - Captain Caprii - Sep. 06, 2011 (Sep. 05, 2011 3:30 PM)Temporal Wrote: This. Join the club... So today, something odd happened. Some random person texted me, thinking I was "Lexi" or someone. I told her she had the wrong number, but we've been texting all day. I know I should be careful of "Pedophiles" or whatnot, but she seems nice and lives pretty near where I live (She said her town first, so no worries there). We seem to have a lot in common, but it's a little weird . RE: Boy/girl friend Thread - ClassicKing - Sep. 07, 2011 I love new school years at new schools it gives us a new and fresh start I agree! My guess is that we'll talk again tomorrow, and maybe someday we can be good friends. ^I know it's not BF/GF, but it's closely tied, so... Maybe not "mentally stronger", but more dedicated to the relationship? Maturity's good to an extent, but I have to disagree with the rest. Men are seen as men, women are seen as women. You'll only be perceived as a superficial idiot if you act like a superficial idiot. As for the extra dedication, that's not necessarily "good". It's all about moderation; caring too much is almost always taken as being clingy and caring too little is taken as exactly that.
