Especially when I watch a comedy, I only understand the emotion behind it through dub.

Well, some dubs are terrible, but hating on dubs in general is both common and weird imo. I'm a sub-watcher (well, whatever little anime I watch anyway), that doesn't stop me from watching dub either if it's available for that anime.
