Sony apparently try deleting any negative comments on it's Youtube GB trailer video. Star Wars TFU was great, people came to see it, it had a female protagonist and I don't remember people caring all that much about it.

Of course, there's some sexist assholes out there, but they're not the majority. Sony's only argument for the whole criticism was that EVERYBODY who disliked the trailer are misogynistic.
Star Wars 7 had a female as the main character, but weirdly, nobody really cared. Why ? Because the movie was actually good, and the trailer looked decent.
Maybe our concern is more focused on the actual movie than the actors' gender, don't you think ?

I saw the Ghostbusters 3 trailer and it looked kinda stupid. Now, I'm not hating the trailer because of the women re-casts (in fact, I loved movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and that had a female protagonist), I dislike the trailer because the comedy was on par with Dane Cook's, the effects look a little dated (although okay at times) and it was just lacking of action.
Yeah, I'm sure this movie could turn out well when I bring myself to see it but for now, I dunno.
Now I wanna bring up apparent sexism towards this trailer. Now people like James Rolfe have been getting a lot of flak from Sony and of course SJWs because they accuse him of sexism when in fact, he was calm about it and only hated the trailer because it looked silly. Why is it that SJWs immediately assume people hate the trailer for the female casting when the majority hated it for the bad humour in the trailer (which is suppose to get you excited for the movie)? Yes, I'm sure there may have been a few people who were sexist and that is horrible but the majority hated it for the comedy and let's think about this... what if there were women who hated the trailer? Does that make them horrible people?! Nooooo... so can the SJWs quit looking at the minority and stop pointing fingers)

The main issue is that if you substantially alter or replace a set of characters people love, then try to pass it off as still part of the series, there will be a LOT of backlash, even if the end result is better than the original. Especially in the case where the new altered version seems to be much worse than the original work (as it is with GB3), people are going to be very, very upset that a franchise they love is being defamed by association with the lower-quality rebranded work.
It would be the same if any other movie launched a sequel with blatant gender-swapped clones of the original characters for no reason, and then threw in some crude and/or weak attempts at humor on top of that. It doesn't matter that they're women; it's that they're rip-offs of the original Ghostbusters, but worse.

Now I don't really want to contribute to this, but just let me ask a question. Didn't the trailer seem kinda like fanfiction? Gender swap, bad jokes? Just the way it looked like it was headed to me.
Anyway, subject change, I need to pick up a box for my growing comic book collection. I've been getting the monthly Star Wars comics that come out and I've amassed quite a pile but now, it's time to box them puppies up. Question is: Should I wait 3 weeks for a new comic to be released or should I go get the box now? I want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone but I feel kinda stupid leaving my comics out in a pile.

Hahah I am continuing the subject that was supposed to end a few posts ago, but all this discussion actually piqued my curiosity and I finally watched the trailer. It turns out that I am very hyped for this new Ghostbusters movie in fact, and I watched the trailer for the original movie immediately after and everything was litterally the same except that the Ghostbusters were male. The same level of jokes, the same epicness, the same possession phenomenon, etc. Go figure.

Totally, although that was many years ago. Since all we have for the new movie is a trailer though, it makes sense to refresh our memory of the original movie(s) only with the trailer as well.

i just watched the kingdom hearts 2.8 trailer and to be honest i liked what i saw but to put it bluntly i just became excessively more confused about the story line then i already was....

you didn't watch the back cover part of the trailer did you? The fact that there is an organization member in such a archaic time period and a lot of the dialogue is confusing...

So I am dogsitting for an entire week from today and I am very good friends with the owners (one was my teacher, known them for years they're like family to me). They usually pay me X amount a day. So with that in mind I expected to be paid a certain amount of money, yet when I counted it was a lot more than I assumed. Now I crunched some numbers and came to the conclusion that if they gave me the wrong bills by mistake, the amount would be less than what I would have expected. IDK if they are paying more per day now or what but I'm embarrassed to ask them and I don't want to spend it, lol I guess it is a good problem to have but it g ot me all anxious

Convocation was yesterday, and with that, I'm freed from my 5 year CompSci/English academic hell. It's kind of surreal, seeing your name written on on a very plain looking certificate that I paid like $150 to get a nice frame for. Back in Brampton, I have this piece of notebook paper pinned to my wall, with the words "BSc Goes Here" written on it. I look forward to taking that down.
I feel pretty light. My insomnia seems to be a thing of the past, and it feels a little like I don't know what to do with myself now. I'm firing off resumes to whomever will listen, even if it's just to get a retail gig that'd let me continue living in Toronto. Long term, I'm more or less open to whatever this degree allows me to do, be it strictly Computer or English related, or a combination of both. Although, after sleeping on it (the first sleep after exams was practically a coma) I realize that I want to build and repair computers. It's a long standing hobby of mine and people keep finding the most creative ways of breaking things, so it sounds like an adventure to me.
It's almost like you've jumped off of a moving train and even though you need to take a moment and compose yourself, you know you can't take too long, as the looming specter that is student debt is closing in behind you.
I also kind of want to start a band again. Ah well.

Well, I missed grades 6 to 8 and I'm doing okay in high-school. Here's a tip though: Catch up isn't fun, try to miss as little as you can.
