RE: Hasbro's Beyblade Burst – Out in Canada and Australia, international launch 2017 - DeltaZakuro - Sep. 02, 2021 and then there is the change of Variant to Vex which isn't a bad redub but it doesnt make any sense when you think about it. and then there is Curse which by hasbro standards has a bit of a darker meaning than everything else mentioned in this thread. why change Variant which has no bad meaning but not change Curse which if anything has similar meaning to Vex. There's no good reason why not to keep it the same, though Volcanoes can cause massive damage they didn't change Apocalypse and Apocalypse literally means the End Of The World! Nothing's left everything's destroyed, you can keep that but not Dynamite or Volcano? Hasbro, you make my brain hurt. I'm not saying I don't like the name Blazebringer (The Bringer names are one of my favorite dub changes, Especially Blazebringer) but I'm just saying that the name change was unnecessary. Expect less, and you won't be disappointed. I like to think of the names as a translation, so it doesn't bother me too much. The beys are just cheap. They're meant for a Hasbro world, if TT were not here, there'd be nothing to compare it to. That's their goal. Doesn't really change the fact that most of the name changes were dumb. I don't really care much for the first part of the names(Mirage, Victory, Nightmare, etc.), but the actual main name changes were bad, because they are literally making up words and names that don't exist. Drivers, while a bit unrelated are even worse because them adding an ing or er to the original name just sounds so cringe and unnecessary. Back in MFB, most of their name changes made sense and were actually cleverly censored in some cases, such as changing Hell to Hades. It ended up more or less having the same meaning as the original despite the change because in Greek Hades doesn't just refer to the god of the underworld, but also the underworld itself. So in that sense Hell=Hades=Underworld, but at the same time the real meaning was hidden compared to hell, and yet still carried the same meaning. The rest were more or less just Hasbro or whoever was in charge with the English dub changing the Japanese names back to their original spelling/translation. Since a lot of them were altered intentionally or otherwise due to screwing up the katakana spelling. Quote:If every Hasbro Beyblade was named the same and retained the exact same properties of TT counterparts, they'd be no more than cheaper copies, no? You realize asking this is weird given the current state of Hasbro, right? Thought I guess you can blame the bible for this being the case. Look at the Google definition of savior and the definition of Genesis. You’ll find that savior almost always has the word religion while Genesis doesn’t. Genesis has less of a religious connotation than other censored names (like Ashura or Lucifer) RE: Hasbro's Beyblade Burst – Out in Canada and Australia, international launch 2017 - originalzankye - Sep. 03, 2021 got my hands on Jet Wyvron for this review RE: Hasbro's Beyblade Burst – Out in Canada and Australia, international launch 2017 - KinkoUsagi - Sep. 04, 2021 Needle Speedstorm is terrible. Hasbro, you make my brain hurt. You still don't understand that Hasbro actually isn't responsible for the name changes of Beyblades and Characters in general right? 🤔 I mean, they sort of are? TT has some input too perhaps, but they're mostly there to work with Hasbro on making them desirable for their audiences. Some of them are definitely based on trying to avoid undesirable names the international crowd would not like, but most of them just... really not needed at all.
