RE: The music of old vs the music of today - 3-Dog - May. 08, 2012 To you guys who said you can't stand country, I was the same until I heard these. Country is great! Give these a go: Hank Williams- Hey Good Lookin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ3xDxcr2rk Whitey Shafer- All My Exes Live In Texas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJT5XOtoi9o Statler Brothers- New York City http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPbdU5j3UoU Statler Brothers- Bed of Roses http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE000LFyuik Asleep at the Wheel- The Letter That Johnny Walker Read http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMU7kFIszis Jerry Reed- Amos Moses http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLDtNsIKOhs Desert Rose band- One Step Forward http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTHCwU9rUdY Eddy Arnold- It's a Sin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wlgd8XSNgUg Okay, that's a lot of links but I think all of them are good! Country is a hidden beauty... most people think it's annoying high-pitched whiny voices and banjos but the songs can be so deep. Check them out whenever you have time! RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Hazel - May. 08, 2012 As someone who personally grew up with nothing but Country music, exposed entirely exclusively to many of the artists Zain just linked, I can honestly say I was glad to be rid of it when I was allowed to listen to my own choice in music. The lyrics carry meaning, but Country is just not comparable to most other genres at all. I am only now capable of listening to a fiddle without having intestinal distress. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Anchor - May. 08, 2012 Both are good, both have its pros and cons. I hate rappers like Mac Miller,Wiz Khalifa,etc......all there songs are the same stuff ![]() ![]() RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Annoying-Fork - May. 08, 2012 Neon Trees.... Hmm. Family Guy needs to accuse them of making nothing but "whiny bullcrap" instead of Coldplay. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - spfan99 - May. 27, 2012 given everything everyone has posted; who do you and by you i mean everyone, think is the greatest artist of all time. for me it's The Beatles without any shadow of doubt. doesn't mean they're my favorite but there's no one better. their influence on music is so severe you don't even realize. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - ƛnubis - Jun. 04, 2012 The music today is absolutely awful in my opinion. Taylor Swift holds no candle compared to the females of the 60's and 70's (Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Linda Rondstat etc.) Coldplay needs to write a song that isn't whiny bull carp. Rap songs are all the same, and Nikki Minaj needs to read a mother lovin' dictionary. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Blazeburn - Aug. 06, 2012 To any dubstep haters who think it is carp, at least accept how much work goes into making it. Pop music and rap are completely carp in my opinion. Many of the artists of those genres have no talent whatsoever. A lot of the time people generalise all new music as being pop. Keep into account that many singers from the 60s and 70s were good in their time but now there is new music and we have to accept that. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Dual - Aug. 06, 2012 Ok, i would like to start out by saying that i like REAL music. Not people who make there voices try to sound good by using computer, not people who cant play instruments using computers to make "music". You dont need talent to be a singer these days. Now im not saying all these people dont have talent, have voices that sound like a constipated frog, and coudnt play a kazoo for the life of them, thays just the way i see most of them. And of course, i could be, and probably am, very wrong. Anyway, i saw someone mention the monkees very early in this thread. I would like to say that they are me favorite band. In case you guys didnt know, only one of them played an instrument and two were singers. They were brought together, some not knowing how to play an instrument well, and made music. Real music. Anyway, favorite bands- Monkees Beatles Journey Bon Jovi Queen Rolling Stones Singers- Elton John Billy Joel And of course, the other bands/singers i cant remember at the moment. Point is- my opinion is modern music=blech RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Trainer Red - Aug. 06, 2012 Beatles FTW!!! Todays music is in for the money, and drinking. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - Blazeburn - Aug. 08, 2012 Yeah,I agree. All you have to do to be a pop singer is be hot,and before you know it you're famous. RE: The music of old vs the music of today - SoulEater57 - Aug. 08, 2012 Rock, Jazz, and video game music FTW!! |
