i dunno, i bought both films because they were highly rated by anime fans but whn i watched the first 1, i didn't like it. the second one has been sat on my self un-watched for 2 years 0_0

Basically people who like Akira, generally like GITS, however its not the other way around. Most people who love GITS hate Akira.

Because GITS fans generally find that Akira in terms of plot and animation is WAY inferior.
