RE: NFL Football - Pony - Oct. 16, 2012
The Jets are awful, but so are the Colts. They depended wholely on Peyton. He's with the Broncos now, they're in a crisis. Buh bye Colts and Jets.
RE: NFL Football - DefStamina88 - Oct. 17, 2012
I dunno where Peyton should go. For the Colts, he sat out all season and was declared MVP, and he's not doing good in Denver. Sure, now they're 3-3 and up to #13 in Power Rankings, but Peyton shouldn't be starting on even. At least 4-2...
RE: NFL Football - Sparta - Oct. 19, 2012
DefStamina88 For your power rankings, did you read bleacher report? The writer who does them is very bias and unfair to certain teams. I think ESPN does a decent job, but they don't add reasonings for their picks which is upsetting. I'm thinking of actually making my own website for my own power rankings and other Football news next year. For now, I'm going to offer my own power rankings so we can debate it around and get some convo going.
#32. Browns: Cleveland finally got its first win! - in week 6. Usually that's a sign you have a problem. Brandon Weedon is doing okay, and Trent Richardson's proving to be a top notch RB. So who's to blame? Pretty much everyone else. Their defense is definitely sub-par, their O-Line couldn't stop even Spongebob Squarepants to save their lives, and Weedon doesn't have anyone to throw to! Next stop: New Head Coach, new GM, new team.
#31. Kansas City Chiefs: For a team that has some decent weapons, they can't seem to make anything decent happen. Is it Matt Cassel having a sub-par year and getting injured? Is the defense's apparent lack of run-blocking to blame?
Nope, it's something even worse. The coaching staff. You heard me. Romeo Crennel's team just can't put up any stats, despite having a fair spread of weapons like Dwayne Bowe, Peyton Hillis, and Jamaal Charles. Romeo, it's time to step down.
#30. Oakland Raiders: Congrats, your team has the best kicker in the NFL. Unfortunately, that's about all you have (C'mon, I think we ALL know Carson Palmer sucks)
#29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Again, some weapons on their team, but they can't put it together. MJD is putting up solid numbers so far this season, and Blaine Gabbert is proving he's not a bust. Sort of. But a 41-3 loss against the Bears? Ouch. Hopefully that's given head coach Mike Mularkey something to fuel the fire as they head to an important - and somewhat winnable - matchup against the Raiders.
#28. Tennessee Titans: 1 right doesn't correct 4 past weeks of wrongs. That's the Titans right now as they ride a wave of momentum into their game this week. I have to admit it was a nice win last week, but a 2-4 record isn't going to get you into the playoff's - and certainly not in their division, with the Texans at 5-1 and the Colts looking surprisingly not-flat-out-free-falling Colts team (Save for last week. Ouch).
#27. Carolina Panthers: Where to begin. Cam looks like a mess, Steve Smith is putting up only average numbers, and their defense has more holes than swiss cheese. Ron Rivera's team needs to get some momentum from their bye last week - and fast. Dallas isn't a team to be messed with, not with the...okay, maybe they're not great, but I just want to make it dramatic...
#26. Indianapolis Colts: If you're Andrew Luck right now, you must be on the verge of choking your defense. The guy's not bad - especially with Reggie Wayne as a target. But really, have you seen their defense (Against the run, now. I think they're like #4 in the league for passing now actually...)?! I mean, can the O-Line create a bigger hole for the guy to go through? Watch some clips and see what I mean. It's a problem, if this team wants to stay competitive. Or for Heaven's sakes, pick up a second good WR!
#25. New Orleans Saints: Who'da ever seen this one coming. The 2008 Super Bowl champs are looking headless right now - make that headcoachless! *Ba dum tiss* I mean, what does it matter how good Brees is when Sean Peyton's gone? Lucky for them, they face the inconsistent and overall...erm...bucky Buccaneers. NO is singing the blues right now, for sure.
#24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Speak of the devil, it's the Bucs! Story of the Bucs season, "Freeman, hands off to Doug Martin" or, "Freeman to Vincent Jackson!" because those are the only good offensive players they have (Sorry, I'm just not a Dallas Clark fan). They're two damn good ones, though. So why can't this team get it together?
-I really have no right to say that as they come off a 38-10 domination, but still. Something's gotta give down in the Swamp, and hopefully it'll head them in the right direction. Here's to hoping the Pirates right the ship!
#23. Miami Dolphins: Ooh boy, where to start. For this year, the Fins may not have a huge shot at the playoffs. But for next year? Keep your eyes peeled. Tannehill's actually looking decent, Reggie Bush is still...well, Reggie Bush, and this Brian Hartline guy looks decent. Their defense looks...able...and they seem to have something going for them. But with the Pats in the same division? A wildcard miracle may be within reach, but let's be realistic and say the division really ain't.
#22. Buffalo Bills: Same story, only the QB problem is not nearly as nice. Fitzpatrick is, at best, solid. It shouldn't be hard to win when you have Steve Johnson, C.J Spiller, and that one other RB that's hurt but good, but I can't remember the name right now.
#21. San Diego Chargers: Oof. Last monday, this team got served a steaming hot dish of Peyton-Manning in the face. Phillip Rivers threw 3 INT's, as well as 2 fumbles on the night. Not exactly the stats you look for from your QB. The Chargers need to reset this week and figure out what went wrong - and get it fixed.
#20: St. Louis Rams: Who would've thought the lousy Rams would be 3-3 so far? Not me, that's for sure. Still with a chance for the NFC West title, still with a Wild Card opportunity. Very, very, very interesting. Sam Bradford is doing average - but it's enough for this team.
#19. Cincinnati Bengals: In a word, A.J Green. Wonder why Andy Dalton's suddenly ranked so high in Fantasy QB lineups? Because all he has to do is throw it to Mr. Green - Basically just like throwing it into a garage. I mean, he's bound to catch it - and watch him go. And what-up with their defense? Looking strong, Cincinnati. Too bad your division is accompanied by the Ravens...there's always wild card!
#18. Dallas Cowboys: God, I hate Tony Romo with a burning passion. Sorry Dallas fans, I just do. Still, hatred has nothing to do with their loss in Baltimore. Even Ray Lewis-less, the Ravens and Joe Flacco pulled out a win. Got to give credit for keeping it close, though. But in Chicago and Seattle? Notsomuch.
#17. Washington Redskins: When the season started, I legitimately thought RG3 was just going to be another Cam Newtown, except more of a bust.
I was way, way wrong.
If RG3 can keep playing like this, even next week against a tough Giants team, then I'm sure - Phil, take it away - there's something coming in the air tonight.
#16. New York Jets: Ooh, boy. Where to start on this Jets team. For a team that looked lost against San Francisco, to a team that looked like it could have almost won that Texan game, to now demolishing the Colts at home. Where's the consistency? I guess that's just the nature of the beast, AKA Mark Sanchez. I for one don't think he's that bad of a quarterback; then again, I seem to be the only one at the Jets games not chanting "TEEEEBOOOOW"
To be sure, it won't be long now before it's #Tebowtime Unfortunately.
#15. Detroit Lions: It certainly is a tough division to be a part of this year, with the Packers a little off pace but strong, the Vikings the surprise of the NFL, and Chicago doing wonderfully. They had a nice win last week and bought some momentum. Now, can they take it into Chicago for a tough division game?
#14. Philadelphia Eagles: Okay, so new Defensive coach, new team. Right?
Wrong. The way I see it, as long as Vick still starts, this team has a huge challenge ahead of them in winning the division. This Giants team is too good this year, and RG3's squad even looks competitive. The turnover machine has to go, or we may have a problem here in the city of Brotherly Love.
#13. Pittsburgh Steelers: Is Rothlesburger out? If so, they have trouble ahead. Deep in the murky waters of Pittsburgh PA lie a surprisingly decent team, led by Andy Dalton and the #1 League receiver A.J. Green. They have to put their two-in-a-row tough losses and get ready for a tough game this sunday.
#12. Arizona Cardinals...?!: What. The. Flack. Arizona is...is...Arizona...is...good?
Is it fluke? Maybe. Is the loss of Kolb a problem? Probably. Still, the stats don't lie. The Cards are 4-2, tied for second in the division, and looking like a possible playoff contender. NFC West has not disappointed thus far.
#11. Minnesota Vikings: Another surprising team this season. Was their win against San Francisco a few weeks ago not a fluke? Are they a playoff contender? It's a tough division, but with Football, it's Any Given Sunday. And Christian Ponder is playing like he doesn't have another Sunday. That is to say, exceptional.
#10. New England Patriots: You can't deny it any longer. I'll probably get a lot of hate mail for this pick, but I'm sorry - a 3-3 team does not deserve to be in the top 5, or 7, or 9. Not when there are much better 4-2 teams that deserve the spots. Tom Brady better get his act together, because they got upstaged last week. It's a younger team, and certainly not one that Bill Bellichick is used to, but they have potential this year. Now, prove your worth.
#9. Denver Broncos: I'm sure Elway's very happy right now to have Peyton Manning over Tim Tebow. Right now, the older Manning's got magic in Denver right now. That comeback win against the Broncos last week was nothing short of electric (No pun intended).
#8. Seattle Seahawks: Seattle fans, don't blame last night's loss on Wilson - there were 5 dropped passes that should have been first downs or even that one for a TD. That's what hurt your team.
That, and Frank Gore ran on you lights-out.
Seattle falls to 4-3, but don't count them out just yet. This is a team with one of the highest rated D's in the league, and if the Cards lose their game this Sunday, there's a distinct chance this one's still up for grabs.
#7. Green Bay Packers: What, never seen a real live hypocrite before? The difference between the Packers being 3-3 and the Patriots is that a) They really should be 4-2 (God damn replacement refs...) and b) That win over the Texans - the only undefeated team in the AFC at that point - was a statement. Can you say "He's back, baby"? Aaron looked more himself that game than he has in a long time. I'll tell you what: Right now, the Packers are one of those teams everyone else is worried about facing. You just never know if the real Rodgers is going to show up and kick the carp out of you.
#6. New York Giants: Statement win against the Niners last week. I mean, huge win. Why am I not putting them higher? Because their two losses were inter-division. That's tough. It always seemed to me that the Giants play well against teams they aren't supposed to beat or are going to be tough, but lose to the sucky teams. I for one will never understand that. One thing's for sure, though: Eli is making a case for himself this year, and showing the world that Peyton isn't the only Manning brother worth talking about. The defending champs are in position to take their division - and maybe another Super Bowl.
#5. Chicago Bears: Damn, Jay Cutler looks actually decent. But in Chicago, they don't even need him. Their defense alone has scored more points that the offense in the past 2 games. Holy smokes, that is such a good Defense. If you're a quarterback, you're quaking in your boots for that game. I wouldn't want to have to go up against them, that's for sure. I'd come out in less that two pieces. Again, they're in a tough division. But that doesn't mean they can't win it.
#4. Houston Texans: Arian Foster. Andre Johnson. J.J. Watt. Matt Schaub. Some big names in Football on this team. So what happened last week against the Packers?
Houston, we have a problem.
A defense that was once impenetrable looked like a Connect 4 board against the Packers, allowing Aaron Rodgers to throw for 4 TD's. How the HELL do you let that happen?
It's the only thing holding me back from ranking them higher. After last week, I just don't know what to expect. They need a win this week. Bad.
#3. Baltimore Ravens: In a word, Ray Lewis. Damn, he was basically the driving force of this team. With him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, this team needs to bounce back. Hard. They've got a few tough games ahead of them, including a Texans game next week. Another defensive battle? Probably, unless the Ravens prove to be incompetent without Ray, or if the Texans lay another egg like they did last week. Only time will tell.
#2. San Francisco 49ers: You have no idea how much I want to put them in the top spot. Really, I do, but records do matter. Even if it's an ugly win, it's still a win *Coughs in Atlanta's direction* A true defensive battle last night, and a game that was too close for comfort. Frank Gore broke the gates of hell, rushing for 180 yards through the night and receiving for another 56. Thank God I had him on Fantasy.
This is a team that is 5-0 after a loss under Harbough, and they certainly came back from last weeks embarrassment. Next week is the Monday night football game against the Cards, and a chance to be 2-0 in the division and start taking over the running for division leader. LET'S GO NINERS!!
#1. Atlanta Falcons: Last week was an ugly win, but it was still a win. 6-0, a perfect record so far. With weapons like Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Michael Turner, Matty Ice has a lot of choices on the field. Next week's game against the Eagles is a must-win, because they need to show they didn't just get lucky against the carppy Raiders last week. If they can stay undefeated through week 8 (They have a bye this week), I'll start considering them Super Bowl favorites. And so far, their record is untarnished - a hard feat to come by in Football, and certainly the reason they are #1. What did you agree with? What did you disagree with? And please, don't be bias about the team you like. If anyone here says "The Browns shud b #1!!!1!!!!!!111!1!!!" then...well, 1-5 speaks for itself. Sorry cleveland fans. That's a tough team to root for.
RE: NFL Football - Byerg - Oct. 20, 2012
You forgot to mention that you were being a hypocrite when putting the Broncos at #9. I loled, very hard.

RE: NFL Football - Pony - Oct. 20, 2012
Sparta,
First rankings I've seen in a while that are virtually unbiased. Maybe the Falcons will win this year. Or the Giants, I'm good with both. And thank you for not putting The Jets on top. I'm tired of seeing, "They have Tebow, they can do anything" etc.
@Zancrow,
I never really thought of Ryan as a rookie, as much as a force of nature that had yet to be released, that seems to be being released this year.

I'm surprised by San Fran at #2. I'm rootin for em, and surprisingly, they are doing good. Alos nice to see the Ravens at #3.
I'm just glad Brady and the Pats are 3-3 as of now. No big record that my friend can shove in my face (LOL). My teams fine, Pats are in a normal spot, and my reserve Ravens are also fine. So far, so good.
Also, FYI, In my Swami, coming into Week 7, I am 24-6. Maybe we can bump it some more with a couple more wins...
RE: NFL Football - Sparta - Oct. 20, 2012
24-6? That's really good. You mean picking the spreads, right? I'm betting one of your incorrect's was the Colts-Packers game two weeks ago. I don't think anyone saw that coming.
Or the Titans beating the Steelers, for that matter.
I've only started doing mine for this week, but I'm 1/1 so far (Niners beat the Seahawks last night)! Who else thinks Tampa's gonna get a win this week?

Seriously though, they just look incompetent whereas the Broncos under Peyton look solid and Green Bay is starting to pick up again. The Patriots looked shell-shocked after last weeks loss to the Hawks at home. Gillette was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

First rankings I've seen in a while that are virtually unbiased. Maybe the Falcons will win this year. Or the Giants, I'm good with both. And thank you for not putting The Jets on top. I'm tired of seeing, "They have Tebow, they can do anything" etc. Thank you
Actually, I'm not a fan of Tebow. Give Sanchez time in the pocket, a few good receivers, and a decent coaching staff, and I bet you any money he could be good. Everyone remembers the days when Eli Manning was ready to be run out by New York, but the team worked around him...and guess what? He's in line to maybe even make hall-of-fame. The Jets don't have a receiving core right now, so he has no one to throw to. I don't even know half of their names. It's that bad.
RE: NFL Football - Pony - Oct. 21, 2012
Sparta,
I don't know any of their names besides Sanchez and Tebow. It's that bad for me. I bet even half of New York doesn't know the team. Half of New York is smart and cares about the statistics, while half is just watch the game and see what happens.
RE: NFL Football - DefStamina88 - Oct. 21, 2012
Sell, so far its 25-6 for my Swami. San Fran over Seattle 13-6. ust gotta wait out for those other four.
Also, who's interested in Washington and NYG today? That game's one that's quite anticipated by me...
RE: NFL Football - ChinaBladeâ„¢ - Oct. 21, 2012
Ah, Washington vs NYG! I've been waiting for this one! I don't care if everyone's picking the Giants. Redskins better tough this one out. Especially since they're playing the Stealers next week. To be honest, I'd rather have them lose to the Giants and beat the Stealers then them lose to both or get beat by the Stealers. But, I want them to win against both. Sorry Giants and Stealers fans, but RG3's got this!

Stealers? LOL.
And dang, they lost it, 23-27, NYG got it. That's 25-7.
GB bested STL 30-20, but NE beat NYJ 29-26. Looks like we wait for tonight...
Speaking of that NE-NYJ game, how about it?? The Jets almost rushed back for it, down 23-13 in the third.
And that score was down to the last 2 minutes, 4th time this season!! That Rob Ninkovich guy was quite the hero that game. Had Tebow been in that wouldn't have happened, but oh well...
So yeah, depending on this Detroit-Chicago game, I'll either be 27-8, or 26-9...
RE: NFL Football - DefStamina88 - Oct. 23, 2012
Sweet, 13-7, Chicago got it. 27-8 now...
Now, next week, it appears we got:
-GB VS Jacksonville
-Miami VS NYJ
-Falcons and Eagles
-Steelers hosting the Redskins
NE VS STL (A given for NE)
-Giants VS Cowboys (Oooooh)
-Saints and Broncos
-And my favorite Monday night game so far, 49ers VS Cardinals.
Looks like Week 8's gonna be fun...
RE: NFL Football - Sparta - Oct. 26, 2012
My favorite, too I get the feeling the Niners will play a lot of Zone Defense and Blitz a lot in order to put pressure on the rookie QB John Skelton (He's SO bad...Never thought I'd miss Kolb). They have some nice receivers (Floyd and Fitzgerald), but Chris Culliver and Goldson are 2 excellent corners. And with Zone D, Patrick Willis has the ability to read out the patterns and provide an extra man-on. They have no running game to speak of, which means the Niners 2nd-Ranked Pass Defense will take over the game.
On offense, the Niners learned to stick to their Ground-and-pound style of offense, meaning keeping th ball on the ground through Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter, and staying ahead on the scoreboard. Alex Smith does not play well when behind, so they have to score early and hold the lead. This style of offense matches up well against an Arizona defense that's one of the better pass-protection teams out there, but has a 15th ranked run D. Look for Gore to have a breakout game, and the Niners D to get a few sacks on a QB that has taken the most hits out of any QB in the history of football this season.
I'm taking the Niners 21-13
RE: NFL Football - Byerg - Oct. 27, 2012
My prediction would have to be;
San Fran
21-6
Niners have one of the best defenses in the league, going against an Arizona Cardinals who have been troubled for the past two games.
RE: NFL Football - Pony - Oct. 29, 2012
How about them Falcons? Amazing. 7-0 for the first time in history!! I believe in them. I believe, they can get to the super bowl! And for all you bandwagon fans who were rooting for the Jets last year or something, that's typical. Don't worry, half of GA is like that.
RE: NFL Football - Sparta - Oct. 31, 2012
@Zancrow, you were pretty close! 24-3 if I remember right. The Cards O-Line sucks, period. They've allowed 37 sacks so far this season - more than any other team in history for 8 games. I almost feel bad for John Skelton (But not really - I never pity division rivals).
Meanwhile, the Niners take a 2-game lead in the NFC West and now have a bye-week to rest up for a big matchup against Chicago coming up (But first, the Rams).
RE: NFL Football - *Ginga* - Oct. 31, 2012
I am very happy with my Giants. 6-2, and a 3 game lead ahead of the rest of the division.
I actually think the Giants are the 3rd best team in the NFL behinds the Falcons, Bears.
RE: NFL Football - Sparta - Oct. 31, 2012
The only reason I hesitate to put them in the top 3 is because they are inconsistent. They had outstanding wins against the 49ers and Cowboys last week, but lost to the Cowboys (Week 1), Eagles, and almost lost to the Bucs, Browns (Well, sort of. In the first half it looked bad), and 'Skins. That kind of statistic worries me, because it looks like the Giants play better against better teams, but either narrowly win or lose to worse teams that they are supposed to beat. Eli Manning is a powerful 4th quarter QB, but if continues to get pressured he can get frustrated and make poor decisions. If I had a say, I would put them at #5 or (maybe) 6.
Chicago I wouldn't put at #2, either. I'd put them at #3 (Not much change), solely because of Jay Cutler's poor stats. They have a solid backfield, powerful receivers, and a top notch defense.
RE: NFL Football - Lincolnea - Nov. 03, 2012
I really like NFL and my favorite team is Chicago Bears.
RE: NFL Football - Pony - Nov. 05, 2012
Look at that. Cowboys Falcons, 6-6, after the first half. Cmon Ryan, I expected at least one touchdown from you in half of the game! I hope to see a more touchdown oriented 2nd half.
RE: NFL Football - Byerg - Nov. 05, 2012
I doubt that anybody expected a the defense of the Cowboys, which was completely exploited by the Giants, hold Matt Ryan to no TDs, and Michael Turner only a single TD. Neither team could keep the opposing QB from getting 300+ Yards Passing and a completion % of over 70%. Kind of disappointed in Falcons, and impressed by the Cowboys.
I still hate you though Tony...
RE: NFL Football - iVtechboyinpa - Nov. 06, 2012
So how about those Bears? That game yesterday was PURE annihilation. Now, I'm not a fan of the Bears, but I give them respect. My team? Those pitiful Philadelphia Eagles
