In my senior year of high school, I was in our theatre's production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. The props were pretty off the chains, as the clothes looked really authentic and the swords were the exact same ones used in that 1991 movie, Hook. All of us had a fencing teacher as well, to make the fights seem realistic.
There's a scene in the play where one of the characters, Sebastian, is engaged in combat with Toby. It's a pretty even fight, and near the end the two actors clashed their swords in a way that it would form a pretty large spark. However, Toby's supposed to come out on top.
During our second performance, the fight scene went as planned at first until it was time to do the sparking trick. Sebastian and Toby clashed their swords, but Sebastian literally cleaves straight through Toby's rapier. It was pretty awesome, but the sword was pretty friggin' expensive to replace.
tl;dr - in a play i was in, some dudes broke some swords

I don't even know yet since the woman who hired me hasn't called me back, but I'm not accepting anything below minimum wage for two kids, with one dollar extra for each one after that.
