RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Apr. 27, 2009

I bought it because it was $10. I haven't played it significantly because I'm trying to finish the first one.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - MuchWow - Apr. 27, 2009

lol. i finished both... also i finished most of the megaman battle network games back on gba. good games Smile

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Apr. 27, 2009

The first Megaman game I ever beat was Megaman Powered Up! for PSP. I then beat X: Maverick Hunters. Haven't finished a Megaman game since. Although I'm nearly done ZX Advent.

man..battle network games blow starforce out of the water.
starforce is just an overall step down from battle network in every way.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - MuchWow - Apr. 28, 2009

weird, i find the starforce serious more fun. the battles are now more realistic! ya i know less tactics are used now but still. the story line is awesome and the aliens looks kool. + the new character is kooler than Lan.
btw any one watched starforce anime?

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Apr. 28, 2009

DS+Megaman+Aliens= Realism

Wut?

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - MuchWow - Apr. 28, 2009

i said the new fighting system looked more realistic. its 3d you know... not the whole game!

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Apr. 29, 2009

So I hear this PSP thing is gonna be 2009's comeback kid. It helps that Tekken 6, and an exclusive Soul Calibur title were announced last night.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Kei - Apr. 30, 2009

Not that I dislike the PSP, but both of those titles nor a new version of the PSP are going to make it "2009's comeback kid". Relative to the DS, that is.

I disagree.
Psp has been out less then DS and has surpassed it.
A new psp would get alot of people ready to buy,
An these titles are already making my draw my wallet.
It's so easy to fall in love with psp.
And it can do all that camera stuff with GoEdit.
So the DS is lacking.
Only real win for DS is mario.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Kei - Apr. 30, 2009

The PSP will never reach the market penetration that the DS has. Sony has yet to catch onto Nintendo's strategy, and that is why the DS will continue to sell and the PSP will not (in the long run).

The DS has been said and done.
It's strategy is childish but interesting.
Whereas sony has a beutiful stategy.
Taking good games, and making better sequels, portable.
FF7 CC, MGS PO, GOW CO, I mean seriiously.
Anyone who plays a ps1 plays a ps2, who trys a psp, who trys a ps3.
WHo buys one of them.
It's a virus.
(If neeed help with acronyms u r in no position to critisize psp because you don't own one.)

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Apr. 30, 2009

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, man.

The DS is said and done? The DSi just came out and the DS is still selling gangbusters. In what universe has the PSP surpassed the DS, exactly? I think the PSP is a good system and a strong first effort in the handheld arena on Sony's part. However, to say it surpassed the DS is absolutely absurd.

Well the DS hasn't beaten it either.
Let's leave it at this.
If you want a stress break and a fun interactive system go for DS.
If you want a solid strong experiance (People with alot of free time) go for PSP.
I got this from my experiances with the two.
I had a ds.
And I use psp now.
And hav used Dsi.
But nintendo made a mistake taing about game cartridge...Wat r we gnna do wt the new mfb ds game? (I mean the gb cartridge it comes wit)

Let's not turn this into a console war kay Wink

Also you might want to look at sales numbers before you make such sweeping comments about one 'surpassing' the other. Nintendo's sales numbers and profits might beg to differ.

Yeah.
Lol it seems that that is all video games discussions become for me.
But then again my recent post was moderate.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Kei - Apr. 30, 2009

If the PSP and PS3 are so contageous, and Nintendo's strategy is so "childish" (which it is most certainly not) why have both the Wii and DS sold like crazy? Sony has used their existing business model for too long, and frankly, if they don't do something about it soon, I think that the PSP and PS3 may be their last entries into the video games market.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Apr. 30, 2009

I'm pretty sure you don't need the GBA slot for MFB DS. It's that stupid Beytracker, BeyPointer that comes with starters, except it can be attached to the DS. People in the MFB DS thread who didn't exactly do something legal to obtain the game have played it with ease. And this is without the Beypointer.

I do agree it was pretty stupid to remove the GBA slot. And this is from a DSi owner.

Although if Sony goes DD only on PSP Go!, PSP Slide or whatever, they're only admitting defeat. And be sure, if Sony does drop physical media on their next PSP/PSP iteration let it be known, I won't be buying.

You're arguing very bad things there, more so on the Wii's front then the DS's front. Shall I give links to E3 2008? The thing has sold crazy because of cheap gimmicks that have been successfully marketed to a casual audience. Games like Madworld did not sell the platform. Games like WiiFit did. And if Nintendo continues with the casuals one day they will strike out, and one day their bubble will burst.

This is coming from an owner of a DSlite, DSi, and Nintendo Wii.

It is sad though that the GAF thread for MotorStorm PSP has people saying it's got better graphics then most Wii games. Yeah, an unrelated jab.

Also, Sony makes a carp tonne of money on each piece of PSP hardware sold. They have high margins on that little device. And it has been selling really good in Japan, and modestly in Europe, US sales haven't been good though. Saying Sony is going to bail out after this hardware cycle is pretty low. Especially since didn't it take until the 360 was well launched for Microsoft's game division to produce a profit? Sure the economic climate is hostile. But I suspect Sony can do it.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Roan - Apr. 30, 2009

I am not at all surprised to see this thread being overrun by pointless arguments.

Anyone curious as to why I've lost interest in video games? This is exactly it. Why can't people just enjoy what they enjoy without others trying to tell them they're wrong? Oh wait, because this is the internet and everyone thinks their carp doesn't stink.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - flamerx1231 - Apr. 30, 2009

um has anyone played crash tag team racing

The expanded market ("casual", as you call it) bubble will burst? It has only just begun! I would say it is the exact opposite. Throughout video game history, especially in the last 10-15 years, you can clearly see the shift towards more cinematic games, with epic plot lines and higher development costs. This, combined with a declining "hardcore" market does not equal profit. Nintendo realized this and took the opportunity to disrupt the video games industry (watch this speech by Reggie, way back in 2005: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5foJ-cwj4Mk ), and expand the market to those that had been excluded from gaming for far too long.

Read both of these articles: The Disappointment of 2008? The Console War that never was and Why Iwata didn't mention Motion Plus. They should help you realize the reason for Nintendo's focus on the expanded market at E3 2008. I do not think you fully realize the paradigm shift which has occurred this generation; you should really consider reading through the some of Sean Malstrom's articles (yes I realize this is the third time I've mentioned him on here lol. His articles are too interesting!) on both his wordpress and other websites (just google his name). There is too much for me too cover here, and even I do not have a grasp on it all yet.

A few more links:
Theory of Cycles - Sean Malstrom
Age of Disruption - Sean Malstrom
The Third Era of Console Gaming - Sean Malstrom and Deja Vu - Sean Malstrom (The amount of parallels between the NES era and Wii are scary. Seriously.)
Iwata's E3 2008 speech, seemingly ignored by EVERYONE for some reason
Why Sony will not win anymore Console Wars - Sean Malstrom

As for my comment regarding this generation possibly being Sony's last, that is only if they continue to stubbornly think they can continue to do the same thing and be successful. If "PS4" has more sophisticated graphics, and a marginally improved controller; it will fail just as the PS3 has thus far. Same goes for the "Xbox 720", although I am not as concerned about them since they have made an effort to join the expanded market that Nintendo has created. It isn't because of the hostile economic climate that the PSP, PS3, and even the 360 (relative to the Wii and DS of course) have performed poorly this generation; it is because they chose the a stagnant market to focus on.

The "hardcore" gamers had built up a barrier between themselves and everyone else; Nintendo has simply broken through this wall.

These arguments are not pointless. The reason I get involved is because I enjoy talking about the video game industry. However, to people who just like playing games, I agree. I do not scold people for liking certain types of video games, that would not be fair.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Roan - Apr. 30, 2009

Yes, they are pointless. Whether or not you enjoy discussing the industry and its trends, at the end of the day it still accomplishes nothing.

To is firmly planted in the land of Playstation and you aren't going to change his mind no matter what you say and vice versa. Arguing for arguments sake is pretty frivolous if you ask me. :\

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Kei - Apr. 30, 2009

It may accomplish nothing at the end of the day, but the fact that I enjoy it makes it meaningful!

I'm not trying to change his mind. Simply trying to make him aware of things. Whether he chooses to accept them is another story though haha
