you're the first person in history to enjoy owning an acer, congrats

*argh<3*

Yeah well I know you like macs but I'm not so keen on them and they're pricey for a good one.

And don't worry, it's a nice one. Smile Plus I get stubborn about these things, now I have it I won't want anything else for a good long while, even it if becomes suicidal or something, I tend to be blind to problems when I become enamoured with things. ^^;

How come you don't like Acer then?

Oh and thanks TJ, will do.

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Bey Brad - Oct. 27, 2009

ahaha i'm not talking as a mac fanboy, just that every experience i've had with acer has been awful. which model did you get?

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Rocky - Oct. 27, 2009

Acer Aspire 8930G.

At first I just liked it because it was the only one in the shops that I went to that had a keyboard I liked the feel of. And it had blue glowey bits that match my other electrical stuff. >_> But it has other good points too. ^^;

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Khel - Oct. 27, 2009

I'm still using XP. I'll switch to Windows 7 this summer when I get a new laptop.

God Windows 7 is so much better than Vista. My computer seemingly runs faster now

As an early adopter that's been using 7 since launch I have to say that I'm honestly really impressed and happy with it. I honestly do not have a single complaint to leverage against it.

We'll see if that's a long-term satisfaction though. I don't foresee myself running into any issues though.

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Ash - Oct. 27, 2009

I just put windows 7 on my netbook yesterday, runs suprisingly good for an 8GB netbook with 512MB Ram...

(well i am using my SD Card for windows readyboost)

I just spent 20 mins making that Blazing Computer banner below Tongue_out

I'd rather XP than vista.

My laptop still runs 2000, though all I use it for is word processing.

Anubis that sounds great for you man!

as for acer, I am really impressed by them. I liked their earlier products but then again never owned one. They seemingly sprang out of nowhere though (well taiwan actually) and have practically leapfrogged to second largest computer manufacturer worldwide. They were third behind Dell and Hp[#1] until last fall.

I 'd like to make the jump to 7, but alot of school software is 32 bit... Oh I dunno, but I really want it for my desktop. I'm trying to get a license through school.
The converse to popular opinion, I actually like vista. I have had next to no issues at all and it has been very stable for me. Go figure?

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Bey Brad - Oct. 27, 2009

um blue 32-bit software works in 7 :\

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Blue - Oct. 27, 2009

carp, I have no excuse then, except to get it from school.
In this case, the laptop program is clueless too.

RE: Random Thoughts 3 - interesting posts only please - Ash - Oct. 27, 2009

Yeah I actually liked Vista too. I didn't game on my PC or anything though, so I assume that's why I never ran into a lot of the problems and/or annoyances that everyone else was having with it when it first released.

It was really stable for me but the start up and shutdown/resume from sleep times were absolutely awful. Luckily, Windows 7 has righted those wrongs and now my computer is running faster than ever. I love being able to open the lid of my laptop, punch in my password and be on my merry way -- no waiting at all for the PC to resume or load, it just goes. The new Search is also one of my favorite things about 7 -- it's so fast and it makes finding things on my PC so much easier. Personally I'm a search-addict (I ctrl+F for like everything when I'm online lmao). Search rules. Everything should work like that.

Reading this, makes it sound even better. I shut down and use sleep very often, though its been smooth for me, I read about the no-load times, like it hit the desk top and was ready to go, but didn't really believe.
Snappy search sounds great too, I would definitely make use of it, I try to use keyboard shortcuts all the time. often type into start menu to find a program, mousing is slow!! sounds sweet.
