The things we actually do know is that it was defeating the 2nd ranked blader that allowed Lain to take Shu's spot. Wracking up a lot of points in multiple battles against Shu I don't think really fits given that Lain was all the way in A rank. I don't it's reasonable that if it was a point system, that he would get enough points to jump 14 ranks up just by battling Shu multiple times back to back. It would have to have been a rank up match, which is what it seems is the way you move up the ranks which is what I was getting across in my previous comment.

Yes I understand what you mean. That also seems to be the most logical way how lane ranked up so fast from A1 to S2 which is something I agree with you about 100 percent. But that one example isn't really solid enough to deny that it's a point based system. Just that rank up matches have a heavier bearing on the rankings compared to normal battles. If thats the case then valt would have lost his rank to last person he lost to.

But at the end of the day there is really no definitive answer just that the ranks change when the author decides to change or add to it. So it could be points just like most sports like God Dragruler said or it could be completely different. We really dont know. All we know for sure is that the Ranks represent where each blader stands in the world.

That isn't the only example. It was simply the one I used. We also see it in how Hikaru reached A rank #1. He had to defeat the previous A Rank 1 blader, Fubiki in order to take his spot, nothing to do with points, and that battle we see full on. Based on what we are shown, rank up matches is how people progress through the ranks, not via points.

No that still proves my point. It was a special ranked match which allowed hikaru to claim his ranking if he won and by that logic Bell Should be ranked 1 and 2 in the world by beating rashad and Valt, lane would be Rank 4 and 5 by beating lui and free and Hikaru would have been ranked 1 by beating free, Valt, sisco and rantaro.

You do know official Battles are all ranking matches/effect rankings right? Thats why they are called official because they are all battles that take place in the Wbba league and have a overall effect on the rankings either if you win or lose. Placement battles, tournaments, small events, hosted matches all of those are official battles that effects rankings. 


The reason why they hop in the rankings so fast is because these are Special ranking matches which helps bladers rank up faster than normal official ones. Example the reason why lane bltized through the rankings was because he was doing the special rank up event rather than normal battles. Hikaru just like Lane participated in battles that can SkyRocket your rank. Under normal battles ranks dont blitz like that. Under normal circumstances beating someone usually doesnt grant you their rank unless your points are high, have enough wins, in a similar range. Like for example Valt Vs Rashad it was a title match not a special ranking match but still an official one which is how Valt reclaimed the No.1 rank because despite being No.2 Valt was still in close range with rashad.

The only time when ranks aren't effected is when the battle is either unofficial, an exhibition or if its a tie and the battle cant continue. Usually it all depends in what event you participate in. Some events grant more points, some events override previous ranks based on performance, and some are battles for direct ranks

Ok at this point we might as well just stop. You have your opinion on how the ranks work, and i have my opinion on how the ranks work lets just leave it at that because lets both be honest neither of us have a definitive answer on how the ranks actually work. Only the author knows how they work and even then they kinda change it at random sometimes. Plus burst is technically over so why would the ranks even matter. I feel like we were getting a bit heated over nothing really. We both like Valt, we have zero issues over the current ranks, were both chill and fine.

I'm sorry but whoever says this just dislikes creativity. Dread Vertical and Dread Gyro are such awesome and creative moves. And honestly, that makes Blind one of the greatest bladers I have ever seen in Burst. Sure, Blind got the worse win record out of the rest of the Bahamut users, but that is because he only battled against Delta and Drum, GT's strongest bladers. I felt like if Blind went against bladers like Fumiya, Lodin, Joe, or Pot, he would demolish them.

Zero G was supposed to be a longer series, but since the fans hated it, it was rushed and that's why it had 26 episodes. I don't think they would have made another season.
