RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - JCx06 - Oct. 19, 2011 I have a '11 MacBook Pro 13" and my mom has a '10 MacBook Pro 17". My dad is considering a 13" MacBook Air. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Chups - Oct. 19, 2011 iOS 5 anyone? I really think this is one of apples best ever updates. As soon as I was sliding over to Android apple has got me hooked once again. Any got any thoughts? I think the best updates are the various lock screen notifications, the camera/photos (If you dont know you can focus with one touch, take a photo using + button and crop and edit photos on the actual phone) and of course iMessage. Android 4.0 is bad news to Apple. Just read all of the customization and polishing their doing. ANd now theres the new RAZOR from Motorola that is .7 MILLIMETERS THIN. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Chups - Oct. 20, 2011 Motorola has no threat to apple. That OS beats iOS 5, they even admitted it on Yahoo!. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Oct. 21, 2011 These petty Android vs. iOS wars completely ignore one important aspect: They appeal to different audiences primarily. It doesn't take a fanboy to see that. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Jaygrazer - Oct. 21, 2011 I know. Im not a fanboy. What Im excited for is that now that Android is on Apple's level, 2012 tablets will be AWESOMENESS. Just look at the new Asus tablet. And when the iPad3 come sout? And all the ICS stuff? RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Oct. 21, 2011 What I meant was, I say that in the way nobody can pick up fanboy gestures similar to using the word "Audience". Sorry if you thought I was calling you one. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Oct. 24, 2011 I'm getting so sick of a particular Apple blog site now. I've seen some pretty ridiculous BS in a few articles sneak past the radar and these journalists in question were never called out on their bullcarp. Why? Because they have an approval system, which means they can call the Palm Pre an iPhone ripoff and you won't be directly able to call them out on their childish behavior. This is a true story by the way, if you are going to be the one writing for a web blog and basically advertise AT&T on it then don't accuse a manufacturer of making a ripoff device in the process. I called out the publisher and told him that "if you actually decided to look at the image there are no ripoffs to any iDevices. Don't worry your little heart out dude." and this wasn't approved. So I came on the next day to find comments agreeing with said writer and nobody disagreeing with him. I was also downvoted because I had interest in a Solar Powered iPod Shuffle. They're both smart phones OS's that offer a load of multi-media options. In fact, isn't the reason Android became so popular largely due to exclusivity deals Apple signed with the iPhone making people look for alternatives on their carrier? Isn't the fact that Apple has a half billion lawsuits ongoing against Samsung, and other companies for infringing on their patents so they can create eerily similar looking devices show both OS's are targeting the same demo? They compete head to head for the same market. It doesn't matter if Android attracts a larger techie crowd than iOS does. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - BeybladeStation - Oct. 24, 2011 I have 2 friends that both got iPhone 4S this past week. Honestly the interface seemed much friendlier and quicker than the previous, and while it was much easier to text (because of voice-to-word), write down a note, or FaceTime because of the new camera. Surely, I did not forget our friend Siri. Siri was quite an interesting concept, not a fiend, but definitely had its "attitude". Hell, I doubt anyone is using it for its real purpose: to help you. I played with it for 3 hours, and I can tell you not one question other than the "Hey Siri will you get ruined in the rain" question was serious (that question was an indirect or rhetorical weather question). Great stuff, I'm gonna try some new things soon as well. Tbh Siri is the only plus to the 4S. And wait bro, 2012 is going to be Year of The Tablet 2.0. ALL of the tech reviews agree that we will see awesome sauce next year. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - BeybladeStation - Oct. 25, 2011 You're wrong there, the camera is a huge upgrade. Also notice things like Newstand, download speeds, upload speeds, etc. I'm not a Tablet guy so I am not sure how it would work. But hell I'd love to see the iPad HD Apple is talking about, but hell I doubt it'd have anything. iPhone 5 is where it is at. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - SilverPoseidon - Oct. 25, 2011 I hope iphone 5 has 4g. It should since iphone 4s din't. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - To - Nov. 12, 2011 www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdeWK6G3p5U This is why no one buys your phones Nokia. This is truly outrageous. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Nov. 17, 2011 Welp, my Google Chrome updated succesfully. The only problem? The plugins are burderned greatly. Sometimes Adobe flash will just give up after about the third video I play. My memory is fine, Hard Drive reads GOOD. So outside my occasional impulse-downloading, I downloaded this interesting browser which makes a great backup browser in case even Chrome messes up. It's called SlimBrowser and even though it's based on IE's Trident layout the problems associated with Internet Explorer aren't there. It's made by a group of every day developers who put what we want in a truly basic web browser- such as Adblocking. For those who aren't in the know, it's a poor mans Chrome. Sans add-ons whatnot. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - bugturtles - Nov. 23, 2011 seems like I have to return my new iPhone 4S today turning off by itself despite being updated to 5.0.1 checked diagnostic logs, see THREE "panic" plist files logged panic plist = apparently a hardware problem (iphone 4s is kewl though, i had a samsung intercept and i hated how it kept force quitting everything when i needed it) RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - bumpyfelon - Nov. 24, 2011 (Nov. 12, 2011 9:41 AM)To Wrote: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdeWK6G3p5UWhat the hail? C'mon, really? MUUUUSSSTT BBBUUUYYYYY.... Nyarrg. Also, for some reason, even though my HP Pavillion laptop works great, I feel like I want another one. I would either want the Macbook Pro 13" or the Alienware 18" gaming laptop. Those 2 things are huge monster powerhouses! I really want to try the OS X (Love windows 7, but I want to try something new.) and experience the amazing Apple build quality everyone seems to love. I wish it had its own graphics card, people say that under intense graphics, it doesn't work as well as you want for a $1500 laptop. The Alienware starts at $1999 is by far one of the most customizable laptop out there. It has so many customizable categories! You can even get it so that it comes with a game! Like I said, my laptop works just fine, but I have no clue why I want to get a new one... I think one reason might be the ease to take it around the house and have a good battery life. Kei knows RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Nov. 26, 2011 Various hardware designers make ambiguous concepts all the time. It was rumored one time that Sony would start developing a paper thin PSP. I don't think people looked forward to it. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - T. L-Drago 9207 - Nov. 26, 2011 [Image: _SUN1.GIF] Have you ever seen an old-school computer like this before? This is the Sun-1/100, first-gen UNIX computer system from Sun Microsystems, desktop version. LucasFilm used one of these for the original EditDroid NLE (Non-Linear Editing) system. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Annoying-Fork - Nov. 26, 2011 I always wanted a commodore for my game collection. Oh and nice find dude. It's just that the concepts on display are terrible, haha! Who would want ads on their phone, as well as having the public be aware of what you're doing since the screen is the device? As long as you didn't sell your soul to Rogers, or pay an exuberant amount (they were on firesale recently) the Playbooks seem swell. Though, that thing still doesn't have an email application does it? RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Blue - Nov. 27, 2011 Nah really, you think so? I think for sure the metaphors are little rough, but the device being all screen is pretty cool tho. and people already show off their phones, so i dont think privacy big consideration. many if nokia dropped that even a year from now media would be all over it. $199 at chapters and hell no, I've never been or will be a rogers customer. mobilicity has been pretty good. also yeah email is missing, i guess, but i prefer it on my phone anyway, even over the touchpads very nice email app. RE: Computers, Gadgets, Etc. - Deikailo - Nov. 27, 2011 Somebody actually bought a playbook? |
