Screw Trident Testing - Dragunix - Dec. 27, 2017
As the title states, this thread is all about testing the "absorber" layer, Screw Trident. I really doubted the usefulness of this layer, so I decided to test against several meta combos and some more odd options...
Equipment:
- B-33 Standard Type Beystadium
- Beylauncher (with Beylogger as grip)
- Beylauncher L (for easy weak-launches for aB)
Note: As for why I am not using Beylauncher LR, I sadly have inconsistent launches due to the smoothness of that launcher handle.
Note: As for why I am not using Beylauncher LR, I sadly have inconsistent launches due to the smoothness of that launcher handle.
Tested Layer: Screw Trident
Point Counter: 1 point for burst, survivor, and over finishes.
First up was Screw Trident (A Mould) 7G. O vs dF. 7. Br (A Mould for both):
sT. 7G. O (hard launch): 2/10
dF. 7. Br: 5/10
3 Tie
Win rate: 20%
Not sure what happened when sT insta-bursted dF once...sT's protrusions lower burst resistance, but on Orbit it seems to keep up in terms of stamina with dF...some matches were very close. Bearing's LAD helped dF. It seems that sT's gimmick may reduce impact force when hit at a face-on angle. Additionally, sT had greater burst resistance in this setup than expected, although it did lose 3 clicks on a couple of occassions. Tbh, dF mainly won through Spin Finishes, although sT did burst a couple of times.
sT. 7G. O (soft launch): 2/10
dF. 7. Br: 6/10
2 Tie
Win rate: 20%
In terms of stamina, this battle seemed a bit further in gap. dF actually got more rotations after soft launching sT, and even stayed upright on Br, which is ridiculously mocking...When sT won, it was due to it being able to get under dF and destabilize it...
All in all, dF seems to be a reliable counter, as other layers definitely will be...
Screw Trident (A Mould) 7 Glaive Atomic then faced Nightmare Longinus Bump Destroy:
sT. 7G. At (hard launch): 3/10
nL. B. Ds: 6/10
1 Tie
Win rate: 30%
As a nice surprise, sT had better chances, most likely due to nL being a worse equalizer than dF. However, sT still faced greater burst risk due to harder launches against nL's soft launched status. nL even insta-bursted the tangerine bey. If sT made early contact, it had far greater chances to be KOed---or worse---bursted.
sT. 7G. At (soft launch): 8/10
nL. B. Ds: 0/10
2 Tie
Win rate: 80%
Unlike dF, Destroy's lesser precession and nL's lesser equalization properties gave sT a HUGE advantage in terms of outspinning its opponent, and it was very clear this time around.
Alter Chronos (A Mould)(balanced) 7 Atomic was the next to battle Screw Trident (A Mould) 7 Glaive Orbit:
aC: 1/10
sT: 8/10
1 Tie
Win rate: 80%
sT seems to work well on Orbit for stamina, and does have a smidge more stamina than aC despite At's LAD. I believe that if sT was more rounded in shape, it could have been easily top tier for stamina/defense hybrids. However, against aB, sT actually clicked twice, but only once.
now sT has Atomic rather than Orbit:
aC: 3/10
sT: 7/10
Win rate: 70%
sT seems to be better for pure stamina, though Atomic did work well with it against nL. _. Ds based combos. Sometimes, if aC was launched a bit soft, it would be more likely to outspin or tie with sT.
@[Kei] requested this matchup (due to lack of availability for some parts)---sT 7M. At vs dC. 7M. At:
[spoiler]
sT: 4/10
dC: 3/10
3 Tie
Win rate: 40%
So far, sT's blocky shape seems to be countering dC's destabilization to an extent...either than or aB's kinda sticky Atomic messed things up...the LAD wasn't affected, but as for movement, it did seem slightly more aggressive (aB's Atomic...). Tbh, the match was pretty close, with sT and dC possibly being the best layers for pure stamina? sT has greater burst risk IMO, but seems to be able to click dC when both are equipped with A Mould GCs in this scenario.
Reversed Atomic drivers (to see if aB's Atomic drastically changed anything the first time)...
sT: 3/10
dC: 6/10
Tie
Win rate:
sT had a much harder time, possibly due to aB's Atomic locking up and letting dC destabilize it. Despite this, it managed to pull off some wins. I still believe it has potential, just not necessarily as good as dC. I don't have another perfectly lose Atomic, so I will probably retest this one if and when I do get one...aB's Atomic still has LAD, just not the same stamina as RBV6 or other versions.
If you have any combos for sT or any custom combos of other beys you want to suggest, please present them and I'll try testing it...here is a list of parts...

7Glaive dosen't exactly make a condo easier to burst, it's only use is facing opposite spin, and even then it's outclassed.

No. Thi s combo is actually pretty decent against mG
RE: Screw Trident Testing - Dragunix - Dec. 27, 2017
Jerk sucks
And have you tested this?
RE: Screw Trident Testing - Kei - Dec. 27, 2017
Some straight-up mirror match Stamina tests would be nice. This isn't the ideal match-up, but with the parts you have this might be okay: Screw Trident 7 Meteor Atomic vs. Deep Chaos 7 Meteor Atomic. Thanks!
RE: Screw Trident Testing - Dragunix - Dec. 27, 2017
Ok @[Kei]
Although dC may rek sT idk...
Shape wise, sT will prolly get held back due to shape alone...
RE: Screw Trident Testing - Dragunix - Dec. 27, 2017
@[Kei] I'll retest your suggestion later on...I need a better Atomic for mirror matches...
the good one is the RBV6 tW version...the one that is kinda sticky is aB's

Either way, 7G does better. Nobody uses a light, IWD disc.
Ok, so why Yell? 7G has more advantages...more stamina, frame support, just to name a few...

7g has far better stamina with comparable lad and burst defense. yell isnt competitive anymore its too light and has bad stamina, its lad is that exceptional either polish and glaive(left spin) are better
