SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 23, 2015 The SEGA CD...Hmm. The add-on of the SEGA Genesis. Is it good, or would we rather eat a roadkill skunk and down it with beer? Personally I like the good games on it. I.e., no FMV games. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 23, 2015 Well it really depends on the games and their worth compared to the price of the Sega CD and all boils down to how much you think they're all worth. Personally, very few games to me are any good so I don't believe it's worth it. It's got certain positive aspects but has lots of negative ones too, it's main gimmick while a good attempt just doesn't work as well as it should. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 23, 2015 You can still burn games for it. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 23, 2015 Burn games? I'm not sure if that's literal or meaning something else. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 23, 2015 Burning the Roms onto cd-R disks. Anything basically. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 23, 2015 Yeah but isn't that basically modifying? Either way, I don't think it's intended to do that. Plus I'm sure there are many better alternatives, at least I think? RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 23, 2015 It has no protection on it. If you have a Sega CD game burned to a disk, it will work. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 23, 2015 (Aug. 23, 2015 10:44 PM)Neo Wrote: It has no protection on it. There's actually quite a few good games on it. Mostly the japanese games aren't so FMV centric, like NA releases. Don't let the reviewers fool you; because there are a lot of games that are good and are just higher quality Genesis type games. That's opinion based, I have tried a few and admittingly they aren't that bad as a few people just can't play them, however, depending on much the Sega CD are sold to you, it will decide if it's worth it or not and honestly, compared to things like the SNES and other systems, you might as well buy those. I'll stick to NES, anyday! RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Meta madness - Aug. 30, 2015 oh Neo <3 Wasn't gonna be on the forum today but i seen this thread and well, couldn't resist! The Sega CD is a piece of love from Japan, while it is one of the pioneers of CD based gaming and the pioneer of LOAD TIMES. The Sega CD of course has a special spot in peoples hearts including mine, can't let a game like shining force CD go to waste let alone the Lunar games and Night trap. Seriously, all the cutscenes in night trap and you put them in a movie is astounding! It's actually a pretty decent movie...though I wouldn't remotely classify it as bloody though people do get blown up so... errr, anyway what I'm trying to say is... Spoiler (Click to View) RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 30, 2015 I think I love you. I have a Model 1 CD with the loading tray. Easily the sexiest piece of machinery I own. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 30, 2015 Well I'll give it one thing, it at least used the CD technology well considering it's early stage, the videos look really good and the sound quality is nice, on Sonic CD and Terminator, the music is fantastic, but then again it's enhance by the fact that it's IIRC MP3 format. It's also not Jaguar CD... RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Meta madness - Aug. 30, 2015 loading trays I prefer over the butten activated open and manually force down. Though I prefer the super slim, attractive, plastic shell of the second model. But that first model has that magical opens and closes feature... I mean Mmmmmmmmmmmm! Also, jaguar CD is the wrong way to make a game add-on. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Aug. 31, 2015 Eh, I think the Model 2 is a bit odd looking. I use a "High Definition Graphics" Genesis Model 1, so model 2 ends up being too wide and odd looking. Today my friends and I burned some games for it. After hours of failed attempts, we finally got 3 games. Final Fight CD Snatcher The Masked Rider: Kamen Rider ZO (the only FMV I'll get. Novelty.) We also burned a physical copy of a Sonic 1 port to Sega CD. Added fantastic musical remixes. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Aug. 31, 2015 The hell do you transform a 16 bit format into an MP3 format? RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Meta madness - Aug. 31, 2015 The model 1 does actually look pretty edgy(For the time) slick clean and what not, very attractive, like the second model just edgier.....It hurts! Should play some Lunar:eternal blue, that's some good FMV quality:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jD9Qv5ZdUA I don't see a shining force CD in that selection there brah! Made me cry a bit~ Though I can respect your love RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Sep. 01, 2015 Believe me, I'll burn them all. I own Lunar 1. Actual copy. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Neo - Sep. 03, 2015 The CD addons are also CD players, so it's no wonder they have MP3 quality. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Meta madness - Sep. 03, 2015 Sounds just like every CD based console in the 90s. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Jinbee - Sep. 03, 2015 No, guys, that's not my point, I mean how does 16 bit music even turn into MP3 styled music? The only I know that would happen is if they completely remaster them. RE: SEGA CD Discussion - Meta madness - Sep. 03, 2015 (Sep. 03, 2015 12:13 PM)J.I.N.B.E.E!
