Hello Beybladers of the world! I've been a long-time fan of Beyblade, and used to play a little bit back when MFB was the current iteration of Beyblade. Sadly I was an idiot and sold off all of my old Beyblades many years ago and don't have anymore anymore.

Now that Beyblade Burst has been a thing for a while, I've really put some thought into the game and I have one major question to ask you all as a community: What draws you to Beyblade Burst?

"Bursting" Beyblades isn't a new concept. Most of us know that the plastic generation (and sometimes rarely the HMS generation) was heavily prone to bursting. Back then it wasn't an intended mechanic, and was both really interesting to see and surprising. HMS and MFB made strides to remove this unintended side effect of Beyblade design, but Burst brought it back as an intended mechanic. However, the more I think about it, the less I like Burst as a whole.

I'm a fan of more defensive or stamina type Beyblades (more so Stamina than anything else). Back in MFB I feel like the "meta game" was fairly well made, with some notable outstanding exceptions to this rule (Quetz's wheel until it got outclassed, Libra's wheel until it was banned and then later re-released as a more balanced model, etc. etc.) You had a good, well-defined balance of the game between design of parts and design of the tops themselves. They were sturdy and had a myriad of options (assuming you weren't playing for tippy top tier parts.) But Burst... feels like it sort of threw this out of the window. With how the Burst layer system works, your parts become HEAVILY worn down rapidly, and there is a lot more emphasis on Attack types than any of the others just due to how Attack types work in general. (Smash attacks and Upper attacks, both heavily prone to bursting your opponent.) It's like... If you can't knock them around or out, you can just plow through them. It makes Defense and Stamina types feel and seem like they function objectively worse.

It could just be me, I haven't been in the loop for some time. I'm just reminiscing about the previous generations and unsure about the newer ones...
Idk if its just me but I absolutely love the burst mechanic it adds more fun to it when you can get a satisfying burst but i do agree that defense types should generally have strong teeth to guard attack types.
I really only like burst because it’s Beyblade. In short what makes Beyblade appealing is the customization and that sense of mystery and hype as to if the Beyblade you want to win will win (like watching a sports match).
I personally like it in general as a whole the anime and real life
I like burst for some reasons, #1 is that I really find interesting the gimmick of bursting from beys since it gives you another thing to get worried about when making a combination and it balances a little the game, #2 Is beyblade, #3 the characters had a lot of development before GT and the story was incredible, but now that they had to do only 10 min episodes was hard to make a good development, I hope this changes in the next season, #4 Harry is in it, #5 burst was more realistic than mfb (emphasize the WAS), #6 some characters are funny but not cringy like mfb was and unlike most kids shows today there is not fart humor or something (before burst was released I was scared that they would make a series with this weird kids humor), #7 the characters have now different launches like OG and unlike mfb, #8 the animations is clearly incredible, #9 the bladers have more interactions with their avatars than any other series, #10 like ir or not, burst is the more popular series of beyblade (and popular does not mean the best, but the one the most people watch).
Sounds very silly but what attracts me to burst is probally cause of Aiga Idk why I just got attracted to the show somehow because of him and also for the bey probally Drain Fafnir since it was the first burst bey I got.
Cho z just like Phoenix so much
... Interesting how most of the responses are around the anime, and not the game itself.

Actually anime is mediocre.
However I like how It's easier to customize parts (especially during Mfb my best parts got stuck on a lousy bey)
And how the Designs and power/gimmicks (especially superking) are really good
For the anime, its the characters&their personalities that attract me into the series(especially season 1&2 characters)

For the real life part
1-The bursting mechanism always hype me up,getting a win by burst felt more satisfying than a knockout or outspin (sparking double chassis make bursting harder)
2-The easier ways of customization make it better for kids to understand, means more family friendly to customize beys for competitive play
As of why burst series beys worn down easier,it's because of the material, unlike mfb,it was made with plastic(for layers especially)

Yeah, the wearing down of parts is always rough, but especially so when it's the core of what holds the Beyblade together. (Most notable on RCs in HMS and the Layers of Burst. MFB rarely had issues with this. The worst was stripped faces.)
Back in plastics generation, having your Beyblade burst was both a surprise... But also a disappointment for me and those I used to play with. Felt like a robbed victory because of loose parts (mostly due to molding issues between Attack Rings and Spin/Engine Gears.)

Yup I remem5the plastic era as well I ran. Red Vortex Ape!
I love beyblade burst its .are beyblade more entertaining nd enteraction!
I would say the only real reason I got into Burst at all was because it is Beyblade, I don't think that it's really all that great having grown up seeing the development of the plastic era and being invested heavily in the Metal Fight saga, but one thing that I can say about Burst is that each bey is given more of it's own uniqueness with the individual rings and now with Superking, the Sparking Chips, as well as the gimmicks that are introduced. However I do stand by the Metal Fight generation as being my favorite mainly for the heavy dose of nostalgia I have for it.

In regards to the anime, it's always been less than satisfying with there being a few battles out of dozens being truly great battles. The Burst series excels here with being more believable to an extent since there is no "cosmic enemy" out to destroy the world with it's terrible darkness. Instead the focus is on the sport of beyblade and the interactions between individual characters and the bey spirits, with animation and cinematography that makes it feel like the viewer is in the action it just puts the previous generations of the anime down low in my personal opinion.
I got into Burst mainly because that's what the people who were playing it at my local game store were using Burst Beyblades.

Truth be told I never thought I'd get into it, and now I have a bunch of Takara Tomys. Honestly, the burst mechanic adds to the excitement of the match for me. It's not Beyblades bashing each other until one stops spinning, there's the potential for one to pop apart and the tension and thrill when it does keeps things engaging.

I once had a joke launch where I took the energy ring off, with just the chip, forge ring, and driver in the stadium. Somehow I managed to burst another's Beyblade.

That's what makes it fun for me. Not to mention it allows for a lot of customization, which has me hooked.

And no, I've never seen the anime. And with how little I watch tv and movies, I probably never will.
Beyblase is just the best 👌
Probably because of the fact that it has plastic contact points and that the designs look much more intricate compared to mfb at least to me, and of course the burst mechanic also draws me to it. Just the moment where you burst the other beyblade or you are burst yourself is just epic.
To be entirely honest, it just seemed like a breath of fresh air when I first was introduced to it. My brother recorded the first few episodes of the dub, and I watched them. It rekindled the passion of beyblading, and I bought multiple Hasbro Beys. My collection increased, and I was introduced to Takara Tomy. It's been 3, going on 4 years now, and I'm not going back. The rush of participating in Tournaments fuels me to continue to improve, That is what draws me to this game, and this site.

Is it better put the discussion in here ?
Well that in all actuality is a very interesting question,i think what draws me to beyblade burst is probably the

characters: some of the characters are just so well written none of them are perfect thats what makes them good take ginka in the metal series he practically has no flaws man literally beat a god hes perfect which doesn't make him a bad character it just doesn't make him relatable, then take shu he is so incredible flawed which makes him relatable take his fight with lui when spriggan broke shu broke the became red eye and he became stronger and wanting to become stronger is relatable.

The realism: I love the realism in beyblade burst granted its not all realistic but its like they are actual kids competing in a real tournament not blowing things up and saving the world from the god of destruction

( no hate to the metal series as its my favorite)
I simply just want to Prove to the World I am the Best Beyblader!!!!
I do like my physics experiments, and though Metal Fight serves as a good way to experiment with height changes and harder blows Burst has its own drawing factors in figuring out how to improve LAD, improve launching strategies to control drivers like Drift, make right spin Attack work, and just generally trying to put in work to "solve" the game as best I can. With the constant influx of new parts I'm always left revising my strategy and ideas time and time again, and it hasn't yet gotten old.

In older formats, finding the right mix of power and burst resistance is a fun thing as well. Classic especially has some new options to experiment with like Wave', and seeing them fly apart in these older formats is quite enjoyable too.
