Can’t say I disagree, Variant is a really weird name for the ring.
I think it's just a mistranslate, maybe the name is Valiant

It's name is confirmed to be Variant, not Valiant. From what I've seen from Google Translate the words don't even look remotely similar in Japanese.

Variant: バリアント or 変異体
Valiant:  勁                    or  勇ましい
I think it's the romanization, they may put the English name Valiant, but spell it Variant, ex: duragon

you can still make out the name dragon from duragon, but that could be a possibility given how similar Variant and Valiant might sound in japanese.

The ring's name isn't unusual at all given the whole "shifting" theme it has with its armor. The chassis has a "variant" set of armor spikes but you can't really name the chassis "variant", so why not apply that descriptive name to the ring instead? The name makes perfect sense in the context of what this bey is trying to do overall, so why is it unusual at all? The word is rarely used, yes, but that doesn't make it bad.

It's 100% not a mistranslation of the Japanese though, as I've said before the words aren't even remotely similar. I don't think we've seen the name in English yet, but the Japanese name is clear as crystal as "Variant".

They have never done this with any Beyblade I'm aware of (please, correct me if I'm wrong), short of the Pegasis line in MFB which they admitted to being a typo they were hesitant to fix due to having to retroactively change the whole line's name. They do sometimes pronounce foreign words strangely (e.g. seeing "dragon" but pronouncing it like "duragon"), but that's due to how Japanese as a language handles foreign words and isn't a typo or mispronunciation at all as much as a language quirk. Heck, I can't even find a "duragon" in TT's lineup of anything, so I don't even know where you're fishing that up from as your example.

To claim the name is actually "Valiant" is to presume they're going to screw it up in English, and I have better faith in TT than to presume they will screw up the name like that over actually getting the right name on the box like they do with almost every single thing they make. If we start presuming they're going to be wrong all the time like this then we're just going to make a mess everywhere, so why bother adding confusing "but what if they mistranslate it" scenarios into the air?

It's a lot better, and less confusing, for everyone if we assume they know what they're doing in terns of English translation.
"Variant" and "Valiant" are both spelled the exact same way in katakana, so until they actually show the english spelling of the ring's name, it's not worth getting worked up over.

Yeah, you're right, but this bey's name is very controversial, i dunno, it's name could be Loki and fits with Valhala, but losts it's evil being, so, it's the name.

The bey itself caught my eyes offguard anway i think the chassis will be super thicc
I think we'll be seeing a lot of "I broke my Variant Lucifer". Oh and I noticed that it doesn't have a removeable core like the other sparking chips. [Image: 4904810160267_15fa969efab24ff0a3938de2f1b9f528.jpg]

I agree with the former, and noticed the latter almost immediately. I feel like they'll have to do the same "no removable core" thing with Spriggan too.

Now that I think about it though... the center crown almost looks like painted metal. Could this be a thing?

We shouldn't be judging it now the bey hasn't been released yet and who knows if the blades are sturdy And if it turn out to become a competitive part we'll just have to wait But i do agree
They look like wooden ice cream spoons PFFFFF
This is going to be like gaia dragoon.. a diaster waiting to happen. Those blades on chassis or ring will create a lot of stopping force on itself and will suffer from poor stamina.. this is just my opinion
Packaging looks pretty good! despite it looking kinda goofy I think Lucifer will be a GREAT bey. Hopefully those big blades are sturdy.

At least there's a launcher out of it, and we haven't seen much about the driver yet either.

The plastic for the prong things look decently thick.

Ohhh yeah, it does look like painted metal! If that's the case, Solomon will no longer be alone as the metal infused chip Grin
Y'all remember the MFB  SFX Kerbecs with blades that pop out? This definitely reminds me of that
the bey looks good
i don't known how I feel about that gimmick though it's as someone mentioned very similar to Gaia dragon blade thing my memories are falling me fir sfx kerbecs lol, but we all know how that ended for Gaia hahaha . but we can't judge until we have it or see it but you can bet they anime will make it look cool lol
I don’t have high hopes for this one, definitly more hyper for coast uranus. Launcher looks cool, but who knows I might be wrong

Lol I was just thinking the same thing.
Hopefully the blades don't break like crazy.
Don't get me wrong
It's a great idea(In theory)
Problem is that having this blade idea just doesn't seem like it'd work.
If one blade is messed with then guess what happens?
-It'll screw up the angular momentum of the bey as well as it's inertia
If you move one blade then guess what happens?
-The center of mass shifts and bey is more likely to fall or shift towards a specific direction

Now luckily TT seems to understand this too since from what I can tell, the blades aren't too rigid but the only way to mess with one is by pushing the blade directly and not at an angle which will lessen the chance of any of these happening

The only way to fix these issues entirely would be if one blade is pushed then all of them fall in(or if one blade is pushed then the opposite blade from it falls in)
But I doubt this will be the case since it seems kind of difficult to implement.(especially since all the room it has is only in the ring)
Gaia Dragoon was an epic fail and the blades were free spinning on it...
Those blades look like pretty flower tines. It contrasts with the diabolical look that’s Lucifer has.
A unique gimmick! I'm stoked. No one believed Revive Phoenix would be good either, and guess what?

Let's just wait and see. Either way, this will probably have some really good parts and a fun gimmick.
It's definitely an interesting gimmick to say the least.
KinkoUsagi has a good point. We should wait and see how it does before judging it.
I guessing the chip has some metal in it
