I think he deserves it, Here's my explanation 

King Crimson ability is to erase/skip time just examine it like how you skip 15 seconds in a YouTube video, you don't know what events that occur in the skipped time and in the skipped time diavolo can't attack the enemy but he is completely invincible in that skipped time. With that diavolo can easily avoid Fate like how he avoided his death in the fight against Rissoto, now you might be asking why does diavolo can kill narrancia in the skipped time well actually it's not diavolo who kills Narrancia he it's actually narrancia fate to be killed at that moment fate in jojo is definitely something that is very complex. Furthermore altering/avoiding Fate is a big sin

Nope. Although he did avoid Fate that just seems way to cruel. Bruno did the same thing and he just died so don’t see why Diavolo deserves to die in every way.

Avoiding Fate is like altering the very universe to your liking, and Diavolo was using it for evil. I think he deserved it.

Yugi can only use the puzzle to swap with Atem and mind crush at the end
