I purchased a Takara Tomy Beyblade lot from ebay (linked below) for my kids for $40, based on what you see would you consider this a bad, good, or fair price? (i know little about these other than it's best to buy name brand Hasbro or takara tomy)

You definitely sold that for too little. You probably could have gotten $70 for that lot.
You could have sold that for 75-80.

I’d say $15-20 is a good price range unless it comes with a launcher or extra layer bases.
OK cool, thank you all for the replies. I think I'm set for awhile with the used lots I purchased but if me and family continue to enjoy beyblading I might be interested in a few more additions to our collection and knowing what a good deal looks like is very helpful.
