Originally titled Metal Gear Solid 5, Peace Walker is the return of the stealth action franchise on the PlayStation Portable, which previously was the home to the Ac!d series, and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Set after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Peace Walker continues Big Boss's story. Directed by series creator Hideo Kojima, and developed by a staff as large as Metal Gear Solid 4's, Peace Walker promises to mix elements of every previous Metal Gear, as well as adding it's own. With stunningly lush visuals, and innovative gameplay, Peace Walker is one of the must own titles of 2010. Announced for a release on both UMD, and on the PlayStation Network, the Japanese launch is set for late April, European and North American launch is set for June 2010.

Very much looking forward to this game, getting a psp for it. I've been meaning to get one for a while but kept putting it off, PW gave me a perfect excuse to do so.
“Spirited Green” PSP-3000 system D:
That thing is hideous...
A stack of information came out today:

Crossover with Monster Hunter:
-Felyne's will be asisting Big Boss on his journey in special missions
-Big Boss will be able to fight the monsters of Monster Hunter in special missions

Crossover with Front Mission:
-Wanzer mechs will appear as in-game items in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, will be used as items

Also, Square Enix will be making a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PlayArts action figure line. I want Big Boss, and some Metal Gears.

Some interesting product placement; Doritos will be used as a health item, Axe body spray used as a recovery item, Walkman's can be found to listen to music. Sony will also release a special edition Walkman, Famitsu, Dengeki Playstation, Dengeki Games and Shounen will be featured in the game in some form.

all that placement is embarrassing
Kojima, would you stop it with the product placement already? Geez.

Seriously, It was awkward in MGS4, but this is just overdoing it.
Snake pulling out an iPod was one thing, but using AXE BODY SPRAY and eating doritos???

I admit the Monster Hunter stuff could be funny for a quick bit, seeing those creatures and the MGS people in the same space. But other then that, It's really getting out of hand.
I find the product placement hilarious.
wtf does axe body spray have to do with healing?
If it's like the product placement in previous MGS games, they should be rare items that you can only find in specific places, and that the normal health, and recovery items would be the more commonly found ones.
SCEA lays down the smack down and announces a Gamestop exclusive camo PSP 3000 bundle:

I read this pretty in-depth Peace Walker preview, the game sounds really, really good.

Heard from someone who played through the Japanese release that they think its the best Metal Gear game they've ever played.
Seems like from those who played it, it earned the 40/40.
The new thread title is not a troll.

From those who bought the Japanese version of the game, I have heard only praise. It's apparently the reverse MGS4, Kojima has focused on the gameplay, making it fun, and keeping it different, instead of the nonsensical storylines (that we will all fawn over anyways). Apparently it also pulls a Pokemon Gold on you, that is, when you think it's done, it's not.
IT'S OUT NOW. ZOMGOSH DAMN YOU GRACE CHEN, I WANT IT NOW BUT I'M AT THE MERCY OF SOME PSN MONKEY, ARHAHFDSFSDF
Got this game sitting in my hands right now.
Yes yes yesss.

Edit: Played through the tutorial, did a mission.
So far this game is a ton of fun. Controls took a little getting used to, but they work really well.
This game rocks.
It's so beautiful, it's scary. I'm using the "Shooter" style of play as it's a bit like MPO which I own, and have played a lot of.

Also, as a tip, if you're running the UMD version, do the 800MB install, as it'll decrease load times, and allow you to listen to audio codecs that were simply text before. For the PSN copy, the 300MB install is fine.
To, take off the "5" because, this is not five. Who confirmed it was a sequel to four? Exactly.
I might get the pack if I get good results Wink

I don't think you know Metal Gear if you think that a new main series iteration to the franchise has to be a sequel to MGS4. Heck, MGS4 is not MGS3's sequel, this is.

Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions had the game under the development title of Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker. Konami was fearful of it potentially hurting the brand, as well as fear of overshadowing Rising, they asked him to remove the 5 in the title. All of the "5" appearing in images of Big Boss in those teaser images from Famitsu last June were in regards to this game. The crew had prepped the logo for the "5" as well. I think I might just trust the creator of the franchise on the numbering and naming schemes of titles in this series.

I'm using "Action" style. It's pretty good. "Shooter" style just seemed a bit awkward to me.

And yeah, as soon as I loaded up the game, before I started playing, I did the 800MB install, I had to delete a PS1 game off my memory stick but I hadn't played it in a long time so it was no biggie.
Still in chapter 3, haven't seen a lick of that product placement minus the Walkman. In fact, apparently there is no product placement in the game outside of that in the North American release. So much complaining for nothing, huh?

Being in chapter 3, I can safely say this is the second best MGS made. It actually has convincing gameplay, missions that are actually fun, production values out of this world, etc. Only thing it doesn't beat is its prequel, MGS3.

Konami expects it to sell 3 million units worldwide. Konami is clearly still smoking whatever they were at E3. They didn't spend a $1 marketing the game outside of Japan (more so, they were marketing Kojima) and they took out the 5 from its title, and they expect it to sell in the range a numbered MGS does.

The product placement was removed from the NA version, yes.
Mountain Dew is now "Lime Soda"
Doritos are "Tortilla chips" and so on and so forth.

I would most definitely call Peace Walker the best Metal Gear game next to MGS3.
And one of the best outright games of the year, it's just so good.
Game's $20 at K-Mart this week in the US. If you can find a copy, Rogers + should also have them for $20. Just for those on the fence.

Hot Shots Tennis took me away from beating the game. Now it's taking me a bit to get back in gear (pun intended brothuh).
i go the bundle and this is great to bad the online is adhoc only none of my other freinds have a psp one of the bundles has a code that gets you a stealth gun witch you can use in co op to turn other players invisible and an otherwise exclusive shirt with fox-hounds symbol
