The fact of the matter is that Burst characters are shallow. I will go through every single character.
Valt Aoi: Valt faced some development in the start. He was confused and was lost after being beaten by Wakiya. After multiple beatdowns, he realized he needed to just believe in Valkyrie. That is nothing special whatsoever. All he did was try to figure out how to beat a strong opponent, but the real solution was just "believing in your bey".
Shu faced development in God. He wanted to beat Lui, but at the big rematch he failed. He was in despair until He had an answer to his problems, the Snake Pit. They manipulated him and brainwashed him, however Valt was able to make him see that he's fine the way he is. This one was decent enough I guess.
Rantaro had some minor development in God I believe. It was just him facing the fact that Valt was gone and he needed to grow if he wanted to be as strong as him, near the very start.
Ken had some development, before being shunned by the writers. HE had to keep moving, and all his friends were only temporary, so he made none. But then, Valt let him realize that he can still make friends and that bonds won't fade even if he moves. Again, it's stale. Very stereotypical, character doesn't wnana make friends cause they all disappear, main character helps them realize bonds never fade and that you can still have friends. My entire point is that they need more unique characters.
Daigo went through a thing where he wanted to cheat to be as good as Valt. But then he realized he needed to be better not for anyone else, but himself. This one was very fast. My main problem with it is that is doesn't feel like it amounts to anything. You don't really see how that changes him, he just goes back to his old self.
Xander, has no development.
Wakiya, just struggled with some simple pride. He thought he was better than everyone else, upoin losing to Valt he saw the light and was no longer scared to start making friends. Again, not unique, just stereotypical.
Hoji, has no development. He just tried to be a real friend to Wakiya or whatever.
Orochi is just a pile of wasted potential.
Yugo does nothing.
Ukyo does nothing.
Quon does nothing.
Ben does nothing.
Zac does nothing.... I'm starting to see a trend here. Real lack of growth huh.
Gabe, nothing.
Lui? After Valkyrie lost he deemed it unfair and swallowed his pride, wanting a fair rematch. Literally just a stereotype of a cool edgy character.
Naoki can't relate to other people, but Valt recognizes his data as a cool thing. This guy is just boring so I don't feel anything for him. He doesn't really have an actual place in the plot, he just comes and goes.
Jin literally appears for like 2 episodes.
Akira didn't really get development. He just shifted his interests after battling Zac.
Silas? Well, he was just prideful and didn't acknowledge other to be as strong as him. Over the course of the series, he does. Literally a card board cut out of a stereotype. Cool, mean character eventually warms up to others.
Cuza didn't really get development actually. They just showed that behind the smiles he got sad, but he didn't change as a person.
Free is just Silas' type of character. It doesn't even feel like the kid has a real personality.
Ghasem does nothing outside of battling like twice.
Same for Joshua.
Boa just started to listen to his bey after previously feeling down cause of a loss. This is not unique at all.
Ren Wu Sun didn't do much at all.
Clio is just a plot device for Cuza, thus meaning he's the equivalent of a rock on the side of the road.
Sasha didn't change as a person. Actually just a plot device for Free........if only they didn't do that stupid thing with him leaving for like 4 episodes and getting nothing out of it.
Theodore just vanished.
Kurt just goes from ruthless to nice after battling the main character. That's never happened before at all.
Norman did notihng.
Every other Eye outside of Shu did nothing.
Now we're getting to the bad stuff.... brace yourselves
Aiga....I could go on and on, but I think we all just unanimously agree that he sucks. Plot armor galore.
Ranjiro went form mean to nice cause of a battle.
Suoh did not do anything.
Fubuki did not change as a person at all.
Hae-jin Oh was just cold but after a battle he turned nice and supportive. Getting sick and tired of this.
Phi is just a bad character, but most importantly did not change as a person.
Laban didn't change.
Xavier didn't change.
Kyle can go choke on a rock for all I'm concerned, also he didn't change at all.
Hyde was a plot device for Phi and didn't change as a person.
Evel didn't do much of anything actually.
Count Night battled like once.
Drum didn't change over the course of the serious.
Delta was mean but gradually became nicer and sacrificed his ring for Drum. Aw man, mean guy turns nice.
Amane just tried to get stronger than failed but he had to believe in his bey to get Gold Turbo, ah yeah. Sick and tired man, not unique at all.
Fumiya was just a cardboard cut out. Mean than nice. Didn't even amount to anything.
Joe did nothing.
Lodin was a bit mean than nice...... you already know how I feel.
Pot did nothing.
Blindt didn't actually change as a person, he just stopped working for the bad guys.
Arthur didn't change.
Gwyn couldn't make friends and didn't try, but when he did he realized he could actually get friends. This isn't unique and already has been done in the series, making it feel kind of stale.
Hyuga and Hikaru had 0 development.
Lain was just mean cause of flare then he got good flare and became nice cause plot said so.
This mostly made me realize how much wasted potential there is, they have lots of characters that just appear to appear then leave.
