Beyblade Burst popularity pull

No way Wakiya beat Daigo???

Wow, didn't see that coming.

Shu was expected to win, not hating on him or anything, but I feel that Shu is pretty overrated.
Okay, I swear last time I checked the popularity polls, Daina had the sixth most votes but to my surprise he managed to just scrape 5th place! Not that I'm complaining, because Daina and Wakiya are some of my favourite characters in Burst so it's really cool to see them ranked very high!

Shu being 1st place is no surprise since he's pretty much the Kai Hiwatari of Burst, in terms of popularity. Free being 2nd place, I can understand why but personally I find him a tad bit overrated to be honest.

I should address some rankings I feel were very impressive for other characters (besides Daina and Wakiya) who didn't appear much:
  • For Kensuke being ranked 14th, it may not sound too impressive but remember that he only had several focus in one season. He was pretty much a background character in Beyblade Burst God/Evolution so I'd say for the amount of screen time he had, it's pretty good (though I'd personally still rank him higher). He's ranked higher than one of the main protagonists, Drum, and he's ranked higher than other major characters who have had more screen time and focus than he did like Xhaka and Rantaro so for someone who didn't appear that much like Kensuke, it's really good!
  • Cuza (or Cooza, according to the poll lol) only appeared in one season overall giving him less overall screen time than Sisco and Rantaro, but yet he manages to rank higher than both of them and reach 12th place!
  • Kris being 9th place, despite not having as much focus as many other characters nor is she a blader is really impressive too! It just goes to show that non-blading characters can be really cool too if done right, unlike Hilary from V-Force.
  • The same case with Delta, who has so far only appeared in one season and has already soared up to 8th place is also very cool! However, since he is one of the biggest focus characters in GT, it's not too surprising he'll get ranked quite high but 8th place is very good and higher than expected!
Hearts being ranked higher than Phi is both awesome and hilarious, since Phi has always upstaged his brother in the anime so this is just kind of funny.
Ok, this has been on my mind for a while, in the anime, Ranjiro evolved R2 into cR and Rantaro evolved R2 into bR. Now, they both have GRg. So does that mean that GRg evolves from cR and bR?

He had a lot of character development throughout the season (even if his losses migigated that for some people). If there's one person that breaks the "you can't be a jobber to be a good character" rule, its him, especially with his relationship with Sisco in season 2. Besides, the man found a way for Wyvern, knocking for being the standard defense type with speed issues, to glide around the stadium like a tornado just to come to Bursting Xhaka. That's pretty damn cool.

Might be too tv tropes for this, but I just realized Delta is the legit Sixth Ranger for BC Sol. Not just because he's the last protagonist to join the team and help tell take down Hell,

But he's actually the Sixth member. Amane, Takane, Ichika, Drum, followed by Gwyn, who left, and then Delta. He's actually number 6 (if we're not counting the random background characters no one cares about who turned traitor for the Spark Devwings)

Yeah, come to think of it, Wakiya is a good character, it's just that I thought people would prefer Edgelord over Goldilocks

No offense to wakiya fans
I don't want to make this into a thread, but I have a question I've wanted to get off of my chest.
Does a character's win/loss percentage (particularly on the loosing side) make them a bad character?

I ask this because with sports anime like this, it's very important for characters to get wins, but at the same time there's three issues.
1) If a character wins all the time, they can either be seen as too overpowered, boring, never getting any development, or only win because plot armor (insert Phoenix Armor joke here).
2) If a character loses a lot, they're only seen as their jobbers who can barely pull out a win but if they actually improve towards the end, it becomes whether or not the character improves, or was their opponent nerfed.
3) Character development vs character wins are always going to be tricky since a character can improve overall and still be entertaining, but still lose regardless, which is realistic, but then again, results trump over effort, which is sadly realistic.

it really depends on how you want to classified if this characters is better thx to his record or just look it overall like story arc,  progression,  impact on the story . characters can easily be good/great even if they don't have a good record compare to others who has great record but aren't really good characters their just strong are had a great battle record but are boring now yes feats sometimes make a character great but it depends on how good he/her is in the story.  at the end imo it depends on how you want to judge what makes a character great . for example I don't know if you watch kuroko no basket but their a group who's so strong that some don't train at basket but they are still good cause the have character arc to justified why are they so strong but not boring because of that . kuroko the main guy isn't stronger the any of the group and would get slaughter in 1 vs 1 . which would give him a very bad record but his character arc makes him great to the point even if he was to lose to them it makes him even better . the other example I can take is captain tsubasa  look at kojiro hyuga he never beat tsubasa oozora in a 1 vs 1 althought he should've won a match against him (team battle ofcourse) but his character is so well built that it actually makes him a better character than tsubasa (at least in my opinion). my last example will be with beyblade look at rei or max the did then dirty with battle records but we were at a point the lost didn't make them bad it made them even better character wise.  their also benkai or Kenta not the best battle record but theur very like by fans . oops that got to long just wanted to catch a few angles cause some might be confusing Lol. but what I'm saying to me a win/loses doesn't effect a character as long as it has a good character arc/debolpment .

In some cases, it doesn't but it really depends on how good the characters are on their own or in the story. If the character is constantly getting beaten over and over again, but has shown to either develop over the course, help push the story a little (not to the point of existing as plot device of course) or are likeable enough for you to care about them then I think they're fine for the most part.

An example I usually go back to when it comes to good character who loses constantly but develops over the course of the series is Kenta from MFB. Now I know a lot of fans don't seem to care about Kenta (which is fine, you can hate him if you want to), but to me he's one of the best Beyblade characters. He has one of the biggest growths as both a character and a blader because remember that back in the first episode of MFB, he really sucked at blading only making it to quarter finals in local tournaments and was scared of confrontation, preferring to give up and run away from trouble and became emotional easily when bullies ganged up on him. He was also heavily attached to Sagittario, to the point of getting scared when Benkei (using a generic background bey combo) when his bey simply charged really fast towards Sagittario.

Later on, Ginga's influence over him starts emerging as Kenta slowly started changing and adapting Ginga's way of blading as he most likely saw him as the set standard for the level he should should be reaching. He was more determined and started becoming assertive when someone pushes him. It wasn't instant mind you, as Kenta was still losing quite a lot along the way but he improved as a blader over time. Skip to 4D/Metal Fury, he becomes a great blader who can now easily win a lot of tournaments but was still falling short in comparison to everyone else and thus was feeling useless, his determination to help his friends any way he can by trying to convince Ryuga to join led to him becoming more independent and we see that not only did he could even stand up to Ryuga at one point and even though he still lost to him, he was one of the few at the time that could damage L-Drago.

He also never gave up like he used to and even when facing more terrifying characters like Ryuga, he didn't quit or run away but actually kept trying even though he still kept losing a lot. To give an example about how his determination surpasses a lot of characters, at one point (I forgot which episode) where Nemesis was overpowering all the Legendary Bladers to the point where all of them (even Ginga and Kyoya!) were on the verge of giving up, Kenta was the only blader at that point to keep fighting and trying to take down Nemesis (and was only using Flame Sagittario, which isn't even a 4D or Legendary bey). He didn't even care that Sagittario was getting destroyed anymore as long as he could help his friends save the world and take down Nemesis, despite getting pushed back constantly. This level of bravery and determination led to him finally gaining Ryuga's respect who in turn entrusted his powers onto him and thus, Kenta became a Legendary Blader.

Overall, even though Kenta was losing constantly throughout his journey, he was a great character and had some of the best growth in the franchise (well, him and Valt from Burst). His journey and development felt slower, but more natural because of it and really explains why they wrote Ginga was an almost over-powering main character since Kenta needs a set bar to reach.

On a side and off-topic note, Kenta saves Ginga and Ryuga's characters in 4D/Metal Fury as they both act as the goal post's for Kenta's determination since they're both the aces. Yeah, they're both overpowering which may lead to some thinking that Ginga was becoming a flat invincible main character, but I think they're both important for Kenta's growth.

3) Character development vs character wins are always going to be tricky since a character can improve overall and still be entertaining, but still lose regardless, which is realistic, but then again, results trump over effort, which is sadly realistic.

Now I know a lot of fans don't seem to care about Kenta (which is fine, you can hate him if you want to), but to me he's one of the best Beyblade characters..
...wow you said it better than I could. I never actually hated Kenta, yeah he had arguable the best character development in the whole franchise.

Wait....HOLY CccccccRrrrrrAaaaaP I just realized, all this time I kept saying that I wanted a stamina blader and defense blader as the main protagonists of a series....Kenta was that (and Sisco for God too since he was basically the deutragonist besides Free and Shu) and that's exactly what we got with Kenta. HOW DID I REALIZE THIS EARLIER!

LOL. Thank you. You've opened up my eyes to a perspective I did not consider before.
Hold up. Yugo's english voice actor is Nick Wolfhard. Brother to Finn Wolfhard...who's one of the 4 leads of Stranger Things. Guys, that's pretty awesome, I didn't realize that till random google searching.
I have the Japanese RAWs to the Metal Fight series but I don't have English subtitles ;c , does anyone know where I can get them

That's literally just Cho-z Spriggans avatar without any changes. It could be similar to the Sparking Spriggan's avatar, but not exactly the same.
Cool well I'm throwing this entire thread into Anime and Manga Random Thoughts where it belongs.
I like Shu, but he’s overrated.
I love Shu but he is a bit overrated in the aspect that he’s a cliche deuteragonist in his story writing . But his actually character and personality is very likable.
since people seem to be posting their Shu opinions, I like Shu. I would say he's been done dirty in the past seasons then again he did get the spotlight in God. You really just cant go wrong with a spriggan (except the dual layer one but we don't talk about that). He is a overrated, bu nowadays the only fanboys I see are Aiga fanboys (granted Im not actively searching for them so a shu fanbase is prob thriving right now but idk)
Eh Im 50-50 on Shu. His fangirls are annoying but his character is featured way too much imo. Give the other characters some spotlight
I feel like because of Shu, Aiga is very underrated as a main character.
I think Shu is a good character and I can see why he has a lot of fans but much like Free, I think he's a bit overrated and as someone pointed out, he does get a little too much exposure at the cost of other characters which is a shame. He's like the Tommy Oliver of Burst, in terms of popularity and worship.
Anyone noticed how the drivers are very similar to the original drivers the beys came with?
Valkyrie -> Evolution' since it is better than Variable' (Same gimmick)
Ragnaruk -> Revolve (again it proves my point of having the original drivers to give a throwback)
Satan -> Universe (similar to Loop, but no Loop' but it is sort of similar and does the gimmick properly)
Fafnir -> Nothing (again like I said)
Longinus -> Destroy' (They already released Sprial' so I don't see why they would re-release Sprial. Destroy is highkey better).

So what that being said, I want to make a guess on the future beys.
Dragon -> Charge' ?
Achilles -> Extend+' ?
Spriggan -> Unite' OR Merge' ?
They could give the new Dragon Ignition Dash again. It would be the perfect time to release a single chassis for attack, though that sounds like a horrible idea due to recoil an attack type produces.
I find it weird that in the anime Choz ended with Aiga winning by burst, and the manga ended with Aiga barely winning by a spin finish. I think the manga had a better ending here I think
