How is there not a thread for this game and a thread for Heavy Rain and Kingdom Hearts?

The battle system is far more fun and involved than it's most recent predecessors. Only two flaws I've found is not being able to switch to other characters or weapons mid-battle like in "X".

I'm only 6 chapters in, so avoid story spoilers like your life depends on it because it just might Smile
I like it so far, but the extreme linearity of the first half of the game is annoying. I hated and loved the switching of the teams. I hated parts with Hope but I loved the character development between Sazh and Vanille, easily m favourite characters as well as Baby Chocobo.

Yeah it's really terrible how they do this.. I seriously think the developers might be a bunch of cynics who think their core consumers are functionally retarded. I can understand them not allowing free party control for the first several hours of the game, but the hand holding thing is just absurd and will probably drive some people away from the game.

On the other hand, Hope and Sazh are very believable characters. They aren't blindly heroic and have limitations that they are fully aware of.. Hope behaves very appropriately, so it's really hard to legitimately dislike him. Even Vanille shares this trait in a different way, despite being so damn abrasive.
I see your point. I still don't care for Lightning so much. Fang...well, I don't know what to say about her...
Lightning is a pretty standard archetype - I think the only difference between her and Cloud/Squall is that she's a female lead. It's too bad Square hasn't realized that all soldiers aren't cold emotional shut-ins.

I don't know anything about Fang yet.. I despised Zell in FF8 and Snow is his talking reincarnation with maybe the added perks of being slightly more competent.
I got this recently and I love it. I'm not too far into the game yet but the amount of cut-scenes is annoying I hope they decrease as the game continues.
Really sucking at this game, I just can't seem to beat Odin..
Just been running back and forth trying to get enough material to upgrade Lightnings weapon, I wasted too much of it on stupid Sazh's guns Tired
Love it so far though.
edit: Beaten, was using Aquastrike instead of water, was really easy this time.
I have played it for a little while but I think it is an amazing game and once I have finished with some of the games I have been playing (I've been playing a lot of different games at once Pinching_eyes). My brother on the other hand is already up to the last three bosses which he says you have to fight one after the other and I believe he died on the first one so he has got training to do. XD

All in all, the game is unbelievably good and I really don't see how people could give it a low rating.
Genuinely want to punch Hope, he just doesn't stop blaming eeeeverything!
If he can't blame snow, he'll blame Nora, if not Nora then Fal'Cie, if he can't blame a Fal'Cie, he'll blame Lightning, argh, I'm just waiting for him to start blaming the carping walls!

His character is like 13, and he witnessed some pretty messed up stuff.. The way he behaves is entirely appropriate for a kid imo

Also, I'm really hoping he murders Snow.

Hope overdoes it a lot. I know he saw his mother die and the Purge, but he's whiny and if he noticed anything, he would have saw his mother chose to fight and she died because of that. Also, you must still be on disk 1 then.
Should probably put that in spoiler tags..

I'm not going to really discuss this much more.. If you can't grasp why his character is that way after the first 15 minutes of the game, then you are severely lacking the ability to sympathize on even the most simplest of levels.

Also, I only have one disk Wink
I don't have a PS3, but i have played FFXIII, It is amazing!!!!

Lol, what I said happened in the beginning of the game, within the first hour. Hardly spoiler.

I can connect with characters, but he just isn't a good one. I seem to connect with older characters more now, which is why I love Sazh. His story is more interesting than Hope's by a longshot. Hope is just the remainder of Cloud that was left after they made Lightning
im at chapter 9 Tongue_out its porbably my fav ff game ever since ff7
I just started it like half hour ago XD I don't really have an opinion yet =P

EDIT: On Chapter 2 now
nice beyblade ^

Sazh is awesome, but pretty much everything else you said was pure nonsense for reasons I've been over. The only character who really acts out of place is Snow.

I can sympathize with Hope completely, I can't even comprehend what it must be like to loose someone you love with all your heart, but as a general rule, in times where the world is on the brink of complete destruction I would have thought he would have put things in to perspective at least a little bit.
Then again, I suppose you could argue that his world has already been destroyed.
But at the same time, there are still people in this world who care about him.
Surely it'd be worth fighting to keep those people alive, and not just running on pure fear and anger?
I just feel that his character is quite shallow from what I've experienced so far, a lot of kids his age now a days are at least a little more advanced..

edit: Has anyone here beaten Aster Protoflorian yet? Spent an hour on it last night, got it down to the last quarter of its health bar and it finished Hope, then finished me as I was using a Phoenix down on him =_=

A good deal of adults aren't able to put things into perspective when their car keys go missing lol
Haha, pretty good point actually.
I'm seriously disappointed with the way they've managed summons. In previous games like XII, they offered somewhat useful summons in the main story, but rewarded you with far more powerful ones in side quests. Summons usually become obsolete in most games at certain points, but I feel like that's going to be even more so with summons in this game.

First off, they require technical points to utilize, which as far as I know can only be replenished through a couple actions. That already puts a severe hindrance on their use since they aren't easily accessible, and so far don't really provide any real incentive to utilize.

They are good in a pinch for their pseudo-phoenix effect, but that's about it.
FF XIII is really good. I'm currently in chapter 10 and I'm loving it so far. However I liked XII better because we had much more freedom.
I thought it was kinda weak, at first, but it got incredibly epic as I the story advanced.

Galenth's voice actor, although I never heard about him before, gave chills to my spine. The bosses are awesome and the graphics are mind-blowing. My favorite character is Snow. He's hilarious XD
Just got to Chapter 11 a day or so ago, and they really don't pull punches with it.. Struggled to find a place to safely grind for C-Points. Not really interested in moving on till I have my three mains primary roles maxed for the time being.
