It's an okay idea, but it just seems like the kind of thing only applicable to a board with a smaller population and administrators with no lives.

Yes, I was thinking someone would say that about the example but they could also have it cover all most situations/opinions by
Ex. What are some of the good tracks to use with Vari Ares
Answer: BD145,CH120,R145 (I may be missing a few that are also popular)

They commitee could also assign some members to do it; like you said we got tons of members and a good amount that aren't always busy. And the members doing it could switch out often so they still have a chance for faces
Not much to stop people from cheating, and it would be very clearly dominated by Advanced Members/Veterans and frequent Tournament Goers.

Face Boosters are already easy enough to get - bordering on too easy, in fact - in the eyes of The Committee. I have pitched suggestions to them in the past that were met with some consideration, but I'm not really up to sharing at the moment as I do not know where they currently stand on it.
Reminds me of this: http://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-Guess-The-Beyblade

But, there was a reason why it was closed...
Cheating as in using the search function?
;]
Yes. Assumedly the object of such a "game" would be to test inherent knowledge...
Apparently, it takes a lot of knowledge to search correctly Uncertain
Not Beyblade knowledge, however...
It is kinda impossible to have a Q & A based game on an online forum...
If only questions asked were fool proof, and 'twas impossible to search it out... But that is not possible altogether.
My suggestion- I was always thinking of a 'Hall of Fame' thread around this Forum...
It would be great to see these categories-
Most Helpful Member of Year ____
King of Collections (Person with highest no. of beys in his/her collection)
Combo Suggestions King (Most active in Build Me a Combo thread)
Best Answer Giver (Most active in Ask Q Get A)
Best Consulting Agent (Most active in Purchase Consultation)
Best Sig Maker
Best Story Writer
Most knowledgeable member
And as a comic relief-
Best Joker!
I can imagine that causing loads of argument and debate ect...
A month would be a more suitable time span for that. Whilst I actually love the idea (almost any step towards acknowledging the contributions of our members is something I support), I doubt it would ever become a reality.
Yes, I certainly agree that the acknowledgement of certain members might lead to a lot of agitation...
But, as th!nk said, its good to acknowledge the effort of certain members...
The best option IMO, would be an 'OP-only' thread, similar to Competitive MFB Combos thread in the BeyBlade Customizations Forum. Any Admin/Mod in charge of that thread might keep it updated.

@th!nk- Yes, a month might be a more suitable time span, but it would get tiring for the thread maker, considering the thread would certainly be handled by some admin/mod. Smile
I know the idea is far from reality, but if this happened, the WBO would have more than just Faces to acknowledge people. Smile
In general, recognition systems that focus on objective criteria are much easier to administer than those based on subjective criteria, so I wouldn't expect the WBO to mandate a whole new set of subjective criteria on a monthly basis.

Take a look at the face system here for example. Basically there are only 3 faces that are primarily based on subjective criteria: Amethyst, Peridot and Lapis Lazulli. (Antique is subjective in it's award but the initial criteria of 1000 posts is objective). In 2011 only 3 of these faces have been given, they were all Peridot, and 2 of those were given for obviously important tournament saviors.

That being said, I agree that member recognition is important, and think that to the extent the criteria can be made either objective or based on metrics it increases the likelihood of being implemented. How about something based on user votes for example? Would the hall of fame idea work that way? Maybe nominations could be made over a 1-week period, with voting over the next 2 weeks or something like that? This would minimize the work while allowing members to recognize each other.
Janstarblast, this is actually an idea that I have seen on Digimon forums several years ago, and I was thinking that it could somehow work here too even if the demography is a lot less mature and a lot more vulnerable to fights. For sure, it would have to include only purely positive 'positions', so nothing even suggestive like "Most Comical Member" that could be interpreted as "Joke Member". Of course, like all of our other topics, each mention would have to be explained thoroughly too.

I do not think there should only be one list in the opening post. For each person, the list can vary. It does not have to be unanymous.
Honestly, a vote system would turn it into a popularity contest, and create unnecessary animosity between those who are in the selection. Heck, you may have seen some of the odd voting during the graphics tournament thingo, Kai-V mentioned it during one of the battles.

Let's be honest, I see issues with certain members in that situation, anyway.

That, and read the last post of the thread. Some members were making the game really bad, and it needed some better rules.
I don't disagree with your assessment th!nk, I'm just trying to put forward ideas that might be easier to administer.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I certainly understand that, and I don't totally oppose the idea, it is just I have seen that occur basically every time similar ideas have been implemented elsewhere, and it is a major concern of mine.
We don't want to produce more self-entitled, brattish members like me, for example.
It is not even a sense of trying to determine a winner at the end though. Each post would be completely individual, and there is no more worth in someone getting mentioned a lot because nothing will be compiled at the end. There would also be no selection except : {All WBO Members}.
I don't quite get your meaning, but I trust you wouldn't implement something that would encourage what I described, and as I said before, almost any step towards recognising member's good work is a good one.
Ah, that is an interesting take: A spot for members to recognize each other publicly in certain categories. No more "work" than an ordinary thread. Sounds good to me, and there are certainly members that I would like to recognize. Smile
Ahh, that kinda thing. Well, we'd risk it going down the path of "Favourite Member", but yes, with better direction etc, it could work well.

That concern hasn't stopped anyone in recent days (facts about mods anyone?) but I'm ever the optimist that it could be done well! Wink
A shortcut to put quotes in Pm's, like the shortcut when using the quick reply
Ok so have you ever posted on a thread and then forgot to check back like a week later to see if anyone has responded, but the thread has like 800 post on it and it is hard to find your post or a response, or the if the thread has died down and you can't find it. Then how about we make an alerting system ,like a pm notice, that tells you that some one has quoted your post or responded to it. So what do you think?

Those who responded to it would be all those eight hundred new posts ... However, I might have seen something for if someone quotes your post.
