Hello, I am just getting into Beyblades with my son and wanted to ask some advice. I am a complete newb at this, but i have been looking up things and wanted to see what a good place to start is.
I already got my son a Takara Tomy Xeno Excalibur and Takara Tomy Drain Fafnir. For myself i got a Takara Tomy Nightmare Longinus and Takara Tomy Drain Fafnir.
I am not sure what customization packs i should get to make these Beyblades better, could anyone point me in the right direction of what to research or buy?
Also, I was hearing that the Xeno Excalibur is not a good Layer. Is there a better Excalibur Layer i should get?
I was looking at the getting the Spriggan Requiem with the Beyblade Burst God Customization set for the 7 Bering Driver in the future. Is it worth it, or should I look at other Beyblades instead? Does this need another Disk to work well, or does the stock Disk work best in this set up?

Xeno Xcalibur is outclassed by Sieg Xcalibur, as it is heavier and the sword is bigger.
The Spriggan requiem starter pack has 3 good parts: 0 disk, launcher, and layer. The layer was so good it got banned, but you can use it at home.
the 1 disk that comes with Sieg Xcalibur is fine, but you may want to get Xtreme or Atomic as a driver for it. Xtreme will work better for moving attack, and Atomic is better for stationary attack.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had understood that Xeno was outclassed by Sieg before i purchased it for my son ..... and that Fafnir has been outclassed by Spriggan.
The links in your signature is helpful. I have been worried that the Beyblades i ordered would end up being scams.
Is there an easy way to tell what Disk and Driver come with a Beyblade? Or The best way to get a good Disk or Driver? I was looking for the Atomic driver, but i only saw it on the Tornado Wyvern set, and that is too expensive for a single Beyblade IMO.
The basic trio I've come to recommend for anyone new (and what still holds after all the rule changes):
- B-98 God Customize Set ($50) -- This is the kit every serious TT blader should get their hands on. There's many competitive parts for a good price. It just doesn't come with a launcher, for which you'll need right and left spin. The WBO has a mostly accurate video here, but it was later found that Arc Bahamut is pretty interesting (read page here and wiki article here).
- A Good LR Launcher -- I'm guessing you already have some launchers, so you might not feel you need this. But in case you don't have enough left-spin and right-spin launchers to go around, I'll still list it. LR launchers are for both left and right. The top options are the B-88 LR Beylauncher ($25), the launcher that comes with B-100 Spriggan Requiem 0 Zeta ($31-32, WBO review), or the B-112 LR Long Light Launcher (same as B-100 launcher, but by itself).
- Burst Standard Type Stadium -- Stadiums get forgotten or overlooked easily, but you need one to play at all. The Standard Type Stadium is the best one. It's difficult to find because the best sellers don't seem interested due to the extra shipping costs from its size. You can find it alone as B-09 (white), B-33 (black), or some special releases. Otherwise, you can get it in a set such as B-107.
B-98 GCS has the Atomic driver in it, by the way. Drain Fafnir may make a comeback now that Spriggan Requiem is banned.
Best way to check for how to find parts is on the wiki. If you look up a specific part, it will list all the releases that have it.
Also,
the tournament-winning combos thread is your friend. With more parts banned, the lists will be different from here on out, so keep an eye on what's to come.

I was on the fence about buying the God Customization Set, but after checking out the video I suppose I will be picking up two of those and two of the Spriggans.
In your opinion, is Takara Tomy or Hasbro preferable?
TT is preferred by most competitive bladers. If you do get Hasbro parts, then remember that only forge disks (the metal part) and frames (used on the core disks) are interchangeable with TT and Hasbro. Drivers and layers are not cross compatible.
SO.. Much good info here. haha. As a competitive blader, Fox and motone hit the nail on the head. I only use TT myself.

Hasbro is easier to get if you can buy as it comes out, in-store or from somewhere like Entertainment Earth. Or if you have stores that carry old stock. Older parts online are expensive, increasingly so, due to lack of stock. TT prices are mostly stable, it's the best pick in the random boosters (the "prize" pull) that get rather expensive.
Overall, buying Hasbro late in the game online will probably work out to be more expensive than TT, and you will have to watch other people get the newer parts.
Hasbro made some changes to the molds. Some pieces end up worse or better than TT's. Some parts they never release, some parts they make of their own.
At the end of the day, you pick what side you want. You can get a bit of both if you really want. (Most people stick with one side or at least highly focus in one.) Just know that you can't mix drivers and layers, as already mentioned. The parts will become damaged, and they become illegal in WBO tournaments from even trying.

They list it with the names usually. You probably should k of that they are listed as abbreviations on the box. Examples - Knuckle disc, K. Number discs are represented by the number. Flow frame, F. The layers and drivers are more complex. There are different kinds of layers, Single, Dual, God, and Chozetsu. Single has the first letter of the beyblade, dual has the letter and "2" after it. God and Chozetsu are the first letter of the first and second word of the name. Then the first letter is lowercase and the second is capitalized. Example, God Valkyrie, gV. One exception to this is Spriggan Requiem. Since there is already a S and R beyblade, the first letter is capitalized instead of the second. That's the only exception so far. For most of the Single and Dual layer's Drivers, (exceptions Cycle and Spiral) they are the first letter. For the God and Chozetsu (and Cycle and Spiral) it is the first letter and the next consonant (Even though Cycle's might be used as a vowel). Ultimate Reboot is named using the first word, not the second. Examples, Loop-Lp, Cycle-Cy and so on. Here are some link to help you. Abbreviations on left and Chozetsu isn't finished and is incomplete.

Thanks. I purchase Beyblades online almost exclusively, and everything has been TT so far so I will just continue down that path so I can mix and match as much as i want.

Thanks. I tend to have the most issue with Drivers and Energy since most online sellers I look at dont list those details. I will check out the wiki page you linked to figure out what comes with each set.

To expand, buy recommended beyblades on the WBO reviews (Go to their youtube, read the reviews about each bey part by part)
To get help and ask for combos/questions/Q&A/discuss things, feel free to make threads.

One other question if you dont mind. I saw that the WBO is going to be having an event in Central Park, Manhattan on June 30th. I was thinking about going and taking my two kids. Is there anything I should prepare for in particular? This would be our first Beyblade event. I figure three Beyblades a person, launchers and whatever else we would normally take to the park would be sufficient. Not sure if i am overlooking something.
I saw that it is free play from 10:30 - 12:00, and that is when the tournament proper starts. Would there still be arenas for more free play games for people who get bursted out of the competition quickly?

Each participant needs their own WBO account. You should be able to find any other information in the created thread for the event, and that would be a good place to ask questions.
Every tournament here is run and organized by volunteers, and what resources and support they have will affect how it is run, I'm sure.

While Nothing can minimize the chances of a mis-launch causing a self-Knock-Out, the drawbacks of poor stability and stamina drain from two points of contact render Nothing outclassed by Revolveand Atomic.
As such, this tip is suited for collection purposes only.

I'm saying for semi-stationary attack, which dorsn't need that much stamina.

Launch Patterns:
Bank Shoot - Angling your launcher at the same angle as the slope of the stadium. This can do many things depending on the driver/tip
Sliding/Rush Shoot - Tilt your launcher downwards toward the center. This makes the bey go towards the center and get a barrage attack in.
Normal Shoot - Don't angle the launch at all. This is the most basic launch.
Soft Shoot - Launching the bey softly, not pulling that hard on the string/ripcord/winder. This can make defense/stamina/balance types go toward the center quicker.
Hard Shoot - Launching the bey at max power, giving the best stamina and performance. The problem is when it goes toward the edge of the stadium, which risks getting a stadium-out.

Thanks for the info. I originally skipped those WBO videos, since i figured the information was for the Metal series and wouldn't transfer over to Burst. Watching them now, i can see how it is just generally good knowledge to have.

A hard launch will make your Beyblade easier to burst as well.
I recomend getting drain Fafnir and maximum Garuda from random booster vol7 sieg xcalibur !!!! And blaze ragnaruk and 3 on3 set and god custom set
