I think that a attack point could rise up to hit the opponent from underneath or maybe a When a attack point gets hit, it slides up and when pushed to its limit put out good smash attacks for a few seconds!
Go on @[TrainiacJ] OR @[LOL-y Rancher]'s threads with beyblade art concepts and you'll find some good ones.
layer with a shadow orochium gimmick where when hit very hard or is at low spin the outer wings of the layer free spin to negate attacks.
A driver with a Semi-Flat ish tip that is surrounded by a POM encased bearing, acting as LAD and precession for the combo using it, along with mobility like Orbit. Or alternatively, a plastic or even rubberized plastic rimmed bearing encased in plastic, so that it can prevent KOs but retain stamina.
It would be like nL, but in reverse. It would be a defensive move where with every click the contact points would be less exposed.

You mean Ark Bahamut?
what about a gZ like gimmick where each click moves the balls closer from the center. or would that work better in reverse?

No. Ark's gimmick is hidden and does not do anything. This would be a more exposed change.
A driver whose aggressiveness is determined by the teeth the layer has. Think like a reverse X : D. Taller teeth would make the sharp retract more, where short teeth would make it extend out, making it's movement completely determined by the layer using it, and it's teeth. Layers like Neptune would have it gradually get less aggressive, Storm Spriggan would be full-on Sharp, Kerberos would have like a Fusion, and God Valkyrie would have maximum aggression. If you wanna get really silly, the sharp can be free spinning and the sort of "hole flat" around it could be rubber coated.

I'd personally prefer a  manual setting change, but seems really interesting.
