Despite some initial hiccups with me accidentally leaving some players out of the Challonge bracket, and a few players that dropped out a few rounds into the tournament, I would say the event was mostly a success. Apologies to everyone for the issues at the beginning, it was my first time trying to run such a large tournament (we had a turnout of 21 people!). Special shoutout to bladerpro for getting 4th place at his first tournament, that Meteo combo sure gave a lot of people trouble!

Hey! I'm sorry that we couldn't include you in the tournament, but we were already halfway done with Round 4 by the time you showed up.
I'm glad you still had fun though! I don't know when the next tournament will be unfortunately, but at the very latest there will be one next summer.
You never put my match against Kierafaye (although she left early) in the results. i believe that still counts as a win for me
when someone leaves im pretty sure all remaining matches count as losses for them

I'm pretty sure it only counts as a win in the context of the tournament bracket (as in it counted towards your 4-1 record going into the finals). If the match was not actually played, it shouldn't be added to the spreadsheet since that's what will (hopefully one day) get processed, and those forfeited matches are not included in the BP System.

Actually, players who drop in any format are ultimately given losses for unplayed matches. Players always retain their wins for matches played in the WBO Rankings, but it is within the context of the Round Robin or Block Round Robin event only that they would be given losses for everything so that no players who actually lost to the dropped player are at a disadvantage in comparison to those who didn't have to play them and got an automatic win.
In Swiss–which is the format this tournament used–they retain their wins within the context of the event, but are given losses for the remainder of the event for the purpose of allowing the tournament to proceed. Make sense?
In both cases, all matches should be listed in the spreadsheet. Unplayed matches are always counted as losses in the WBO Rankings. See below from the

For all formats, if a player drops before the conclusion of the event their battles played will be ultimately processed into the rankings as normal. However, for the following formats:
Dropped Participants in Round Robin & Block Round Robin
If a player drops from an event before completing all of their matches in a Round Robin-based event, they will be given "losses" for every match both played and unplayed.
What this means is that the matches the dropped player has played will be counted for the WBO Rankings (meaning it should be listed as a win in the results spreadsheet), but will all be considered "losses" within the context of the event.
For example, if someone wins four matches in an eight-player round robin and drops, they'll get the four wins (for the matches played) and three losses (for the matches missed) within the WBO Rankings, but will receive seven losses within the context of the tournament. This will ensure that the flow of the tournament is not disrupted in any way; players who lost to the player that dropped won't be at a disadvantage compared to the players who didn't and get free wins as a result.
Dropped Participants in Swiss Format
If a player drops from a Swiss tournament, they will retain their wins but receive match losses for the remainder of the tournament. Players who drop from a Swiss event will not be eligible for additional Credits beyond the +1 Participation Credit due to the greater inconvenience it places on the tournament organizer and all participants in comparison to other formats.
However for all formats, if a player stays to complete their round robin/swiss round matches and makes the finals, they will only be given losses for their battles in the finals.

I've gone and updated the spreadsheet with the forfeited matches, and I understand the reasoning behind dropped players retaining their wins in Swiss, but I was always under the impression that matches involving dropped players
after they had dropped out would
not be processed in the rankings? That's certainly the precedent that was set by the past two Anime North tournaments.

The clarifications for dropped participants were brought on partially because of what's happened at Anime North events, so we decided to enact the changes moving forward from the time they were introduced back in August to be fair to past players who may have left an event previously not knowing they would still receive losses for dropped Swiss matches. We need there to be some level of punishment for leaving an event that's more meaningful than credit reductions or something because it does disrupt the flow of things for organizers and players.
Yeah, that's how it works. Everyone receives a win within the context of the tournament against the dropped player if it's Round Robin or Block Round Robin.
