I like Shu too but Kai from Original Series is on of best beyblade charecters ever!

Kai curbstomps. Dranzer has supernatural powers and Kai seems physically tougher than Shu. Let's pretend Spriggan can't burst, the counter break still won't ever beat Dranzer because it, alongside the others in the old gen universe are on a different tier from the burst one due to raw power and supernatural abilities, and Kai has pure skill even without the powers.

Kai would absolutely decimate Shu in a battle, but I like Shu more as a character because he's not as overly edgy.

IDK, in the first gen all bladers rely too much on their respective bit beasts. And I feel that in Burst the characters have all the technique by themsalves, not needing a magic power to save them whenever they need it.

Although a crossgen battle in the Beyblade universe is very complicated, since all systems are different, and each gen has their unique fantasy touch, except for Burst that is more down to earth. I feel like if you remove the fantasy of having a bit beast and mind control from the first gen, they'll lose to the Burst characters that actually got skills. ^^'

In G Revolution, Holy Beasts are barely summoned, so they were relegated to the same metaphorical role as in the whole Metal Fight Beyblade series.

Idk if you put kai into bursts anime, i feel like shu would win, but if shu went to any of the 3 originals, he wouldnt stand a chance... Both would still be good battles though i think.

Let's put it like this even if you put them in the same Gen of anime, Kai was basically raised in solitude in an evil monastery in Russia by Boris where he had hundreds of beyblades fired at him and he had to beat it, this was without the use of his bit beast. Also as shown in that gen aswell, they could ran faster than a car going at the speed limit and reach 50,000 to 70,000 RPM on their launches.

Kai would obliterate shu and any of the burst buddies even without his dranzer using any beyblade, especially that lui guy i'd imagine he'd just put him in his place, he is just too skillful, sorry man Kai is too OG
