Full Version: My thoughts for an uncut redub of the original series - 2001

As a person who likes to watch anime unedited, I personally, am not a fan of the many changes the dub made (not to mention the fact that the English version is very underacted compared to most edited dubs). Below is my opinion on who should dub who (and these are just those I could think of):

Takao - Sean Schemmel (Goku voice; both are similar in many ways)
Kai - Matthew Mercer (Jotaro)
*Max - Joshua Seth
Rei - Skip Stellrecht (Ryu) or Steve Blum
Kyouju - Either Kate Higgins (Tails voice) or Greg Ayres; for his nickname, I'd probably have him called "Doc".
Blader DJ - Eric Vale (World Martial Arts Tournament Announcer)
Rai - John Burgmeier (Tien Shinhan)
Mao - Lia Sargent (Chun-Li)
Kiki - Sonny Strait (Krillin)
Gao - David Kaye (Recoome)
Yuri - Doug Erholtz
Ivan - Michael Yurchak
Sergei - Ben Diskin
Boris (Bryan in the dub) - J. Michael Tatum (Scar)
Volkov (Boris in the dub) - Patrick Seitz
Taro Mizuhara - Kyle Hebert
Judy Mizuhara - Kari Wahlgren or Allison Keith
Emily - Kerry Williams or Cynthia Martinez
Eddy - Phil Lamarr
Steve - Travis Willingham (Knuckles)
Michael - Jason Griffith (Sonic)
Ryunosuke (Tak's granpda) - Richard Epcar
Ralf - Patrick Seitz (Germany from Hetalia)
Giancarlo - Bryce Papenbrook (Caesar)
Shoichiro (Kai's father) - either Tristan MacAvery or John Swasey (Gendo)

Also, I'd want an accurate script that evokes the Japanese version, as well as making it less cliche (not to mention keeping as much of the original JP music as possible, and removing the dub commentators and Dizzi). Maybe even make the English track 5.1 so some people could edit music to their liking.
*Max often speaks English in the JP version, so to bring the language barrier joke over, I'd have him speak Japanese as the foreign language.
As for Takao's voice, I think if Schemmel were to voice him, he shouldn't sound too deep or light; on the lighter side, but keeping many of what makes his Goku memorable. His voice should get slightly deeper as the seasons progress.

Anything you wanna say about it? I'm all ears. Spread the word 'bout this~
Also, check the other two out below and comment your thoughts on them if you haven't already.

A lot of these voices seem solid. I think some of the English VAs are fine as is, but I definitely wouldn't have a problem with say Schemmel voicing Tak. Phil voicing Eddy would be great lol. You would have Judai Yuki's VA voice Max, that's a good choice. If there's anything Yugioh has had for the first 3 series was they had some really good VAs.
Well the English dub of beyblade was mostly edited and many parts of different episodes were removed like the Episode 4 of G revolution...the main comedy parts were removed...
But about voice actors...I think Max' japanese voice I like the most than the dub one...
His voice is faar more better in the japanese version...than the dub..
Check out my choices for V-Force and G-rev if you haven't.

Heh. Thanks. I'm just someone who gets tired of the dub's overexposure, and would like people to give the uncut one a chance.

Tak's ENG VA was Marlowe Gardiner Heslin.
Also U suggested  Mathilda's voice to be Hillary Haag's...I thought U would be suggesting the voice itself for Hillary...it would have quite matched...I mean Hillary as Hillary haag..

Quite a name...

Well, the fact is... Hiromi's the tsundere type, while Mathilda's the sweet type. So... who else but Luci Christian or Monica Rial? I feel they'd fit way better.
Made a few updates, as well as some new additions.
Id really love this to happen man, a redub would be great, due to many MANY people hating the voice acting in the originals.
It's a good idea, I would absolutly love it! The old serie really need a refresh in HD and a unedited version.

For the voice actors , i'm not too familliar with the dub versions since I usually don't watch anime in english beside beyblade (and it isn't my first langage) So I will trust you guys with the choices.
But I would like it if the voice actors could have the proper accent depending on their nationalities ( Majestics , Demolition boys, Barthez Soliders etc.)
