Long ago, in a time shrouded in a thick veil of mystery, there lived a magic known as alchemy. The art of alchemy was known across the land for its fabled ability to transform metals and give them magical properties... The ones who practiced this art, the alchemists, yearned for one common goal - the creation of the Magnum Opus, the Philosophers' Stone, an alchemical feat that was said to give immortality to all who touched it. However, the process to create this mythical gemstone was rigorous. To create the stone, one had to complete four rigorous stages of alchemy: Nigredo, the blackening, Albedo, the whitening, Citrinitas, the yellowing, and Rubedo, the reddening. To this day, no alchemist has ever completed these tasks, and the Magnum Opus remains a distant dream...

Part I - The Alchemist

I step inside my fiery lair
Prepared for this grand undertaking
For many months I did despair
Gathering the tools for the treasure I'm making

The Philosopher's Stone
The Magnum Opus
The dream of the alchemist
Many have toiled
All have failed
The synthesize this gemstone
That breathes eternal life

I stoke the hellish flames ablaze
And prepare all of my incantations
Four stages over four long days
To reach a potential salvation

Black, White, Yellow, Red
The ritual has begun

Part II - Nigredo (The Blackening)

Fury, rage, chaos
A need to disintegrate
I must burn
Until the metals cannot be
Singed anymore

Nigredo, raze all that can be razed

Blacker than the souls of the damned
Blacker than the darkest of nights
Blacker than the eyes of the devil
Reduced to the size of a mite

Nothing left but the essence
Of what had been before

Part III - Albedo (The Whitening)

The smoke has finally parted
And the light shines through the glass
I bless these charred remains
As it returns to form and mass
From blackest black to white
I purify the soulless gems
Darkness purged from every crack
And light takes its place deep within
Albedo brings the sunlight
And calms the storm within my soul
The magic stone I'm holding
Is now condensed and pure and whole

Part IV - Citrinitas (The Yellowing)

Sadly the pureness of this silver
Does not hold the magical properties
Something more grand and regal
Is needed for the right qualities

I call upon Citrinitas
To turn these common jewels
Into gold

Part V - Rubedo (The Reddening)

Finally the fourth and final day has come to me
One last step is needed for the stone of immortality
I cast the incantations and I stoke the hellish fires
And close my eyes and pray for the result that I desire
A force pulsates deep down inside the chasms of my bones
A bloody red light overtakes the lair and stains the stones
The red is known as Rubedo, the last step towards my dream
Though all have failed, I hope that I may be the one to succeed

Part VI - Magnum Opus

I awaken from a slumber
Brought from the overwhelming force
I slowly rise to see
What magic things have taken course
I prepare myself to see
That after all of this, I failed
A mist surrounds the stone
But slowly begins to unveil...

A glowing stone rises through the air
Shimmering with glorious sheen
I recognize the gilded designs
Drawn in books of ancient dreams
Tears spring to my eyes, for I have
Finally made eternal life
With this heavenly hand of power
I can end all death and strife

I touch my grand creation
And I feel a surge of energy
A wondrous spark of inner fire
Awakens a strength inside of me
I look into a nearby basin
And I can't believe the vision I see
I'm staring back with long lost youth
And glistening with immortality

Finally exists in this earth
And by my hands
I'll vanquish death
And we will all face rebirth

Fear that makes the world seem to swallow us whole

One nation under terror, divisible by the picket fence
With liberty and justice withheld from those without defense

From the dark ages to the modern day
The human race has come a long way
Superstitions, fear and destruction
Traded for knowledge and construction

When we all unchained our minds
The world was graced with endless finds
End of plague and end of distrust
And the galaxy met with a rocket thrust

But there are some restrained by fear
Who stick with the old things they hold dear
And sometimes tricked by tales of old
They believed the lies that they were told

Don't let their hysteria pull you in
No matter how distressing
These modern day supervillains
Will stop the human race from progressing

They'll tell you that you are deceived
By the proven info you receive
Somehow, some way, they deny
The things that all us humans pride

They'll want you to trade in proven fact
For what they sell, not so intact
Spreading lies and hatred and fear
Just to justify their wasted years

Yes, there are those restrained by fear
Who stick with the old things they hold dear
And sometimes tricked by tales of old
They believed the lies that they were told

To let them do their oppressing

They'll try to pull us away from all
The progress we're caressing
These modern day supervillains

I think I'd like to try an Asian girl,
I bet that would be quite fun.
I gotta say they look very pretty.
I bet an Asian girl could be the one!

All I've ever gone with was white girls!
It's starting to get too bland.
It's time to mix up my life a little,
And an Asian girl would be grand!

So I went down to the downtown bar
To find a dame of Eastern roots.
And sure enough, I found one
Wearing a dress and fur trimmed boots.

So I sauntered over, and she started screaming
As I opened my jaws and ate her.
Oh yeah, it would probably be good to mention -

Since I do nothing, I guess that makes me an ographer.

What should the name of this poem be?
"Untitled" is currently its name.
But since this poem's about being untitled
I guess that title 'aint lame.

My friend Jake likes obscure bands
It makes him feel superior.
He only listens to bands whose names sound
Like they pulled them out their posterior.

He lists off bands no one's heard of
Like Amish Pie and Paranoid Cyst
But the scary thing is, some of these bands
Don't even actually exist!

It turns out Jake is crazy (big shock!)
He's making up bands in his brain
So now he's locked up in a ward
I guess hipsters are kind of insane.
