The question that has plagued many minds since the 90's...
I just got both and started collecting. Genesis seems to have less triple A titles like the SNES, but Sanic..

So, which do you prefer?
(specific details m80's)
Atari 2600. Sorry.
Still the NES.

But out of the two, probably SNES, it's library has mostly better games, it sounds much better, the visuals are slightly better in some cases and Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World dude! The controller also feels much better to me and doesn't need stupid add ons to survive. I love the Genesis don't get me wrong it's a nice console but I think SNES is a little better.
The CD was pretty cool. 32X Doom is still the best port.
And the controller on the Genesis is bulky and way more comfortable then the SNES one.
I still like the SNES games more though.

Good news is you can plug a 2600 stick into the Genesis.
Seriously though, I agree with Jinbee. There's much more "classic" safe games on the SNES than on the Genesis. They are both great consoles though.

Afterthought the Genesis is better than the SNES only for that

So yeah, you can play Sonic only using a 2600 stick because it uses one button.

32x Doom wasn't as good as the Atari Jaguar one quite honestly, it also had less levels than SNES and the only thing better are the graphics compared to the SNES, but still, that's to be expected. People also say the 32x has the worst music port.

I like the round SNES controller more and the buttons are more convenient to press as they're closer. I seem to be a huge retro gamer for some reason.
The SNES' controller is more ergonomic, the NES' is more classy, and the 2600's is the badassest

You got that from the AVGN didn't you?

I honestly remember more games from the SNES than the Genesis and they're usually good ones.
Good games I remember the top of my head
SNES:
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country
Super Mario World: Yoshis Island
Castlevania X
Castlevania IV
Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past
Megaman and Bass
Megaman 7
Megaman X
Megaman X2
Battletoads In Battlemaniac
Buster Moves

Sega Genesis/Megadrive:
Sonic The Hedgehog 1
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sonic CD (With CD add on)
Sonic The Hedgehog 3
Sonic And Knuckles
Knuckles Chaotix (With 32x add on)
Ristar
Streets Of Rage

Yeah, these are some good games I remember, but more for SNES persoanally.

I would have added Crusader Of Centy but I never found it that good, it's music sucks and he game is very similar to Zelda though not as good to me and the story, which it relies on IS AWFUL AND HYPOCRITICAL!
I'd go for the SNES because it just feels like a bigger step up than the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. It has better sound and in my opinion they have better games.
You forgot theses for the SNES :

Zelda Link to the Past
Super Mario Kart
EarthBound

And Earthworm Jim for the Genesis. A great game.

I'm also for the SNES. I never liked anything sonic-related.
It's ones I remember, but I should have added Earthworm Jim for both, I already added A Link To The Past and I should add Mario Kart as well.
A game we should all definitely ignore for both the SNES and the SEGA Genesis is Shaq Fu.
There's so much great games on the SNES !

Shaq Fu is a masterpiece tho

Dude was pretty biased to the Sega Genesis in his Genesis vs Snes video.

Nah, the Genesis just fits well in the hands.
Also, I meant on a 16/32 bit console. Jaguar is technically 64.

Nah, I just know about ports and stuff.
My friends got a 2600 and used a Genesis controller.
Do the math !

I wasn't referencing the SNES vs SEGA Genesis video, I was referencing the AVGN's Atari 5200 video where he mentions that an Atari 2600 controller can be plugged in to a Genesis.

The controller comfortability is personal preference you know.

Jaguar games are rarely capable of being 64 bit, as very few could master it's complicated system, hell I might not even be 64 bit.

I also heard Colecovision was 16 bit and Turbo Grafix is actually 8 bit, but it's only from some comments I read on youtube and not fact, yet.
If we compare, the Colecovision/Intellivision was far more superior than the 2600 in the early 80's.

I know of that. Back when he was relevant but by today's standards he's a ghost slightly. Decided to mention the genesis and snes topic because, thread.

Except their original controllers, they suck.
