How is this movie?? I'm gonna get it in some time now because a friend recommended it, looks pretty corny but so critically acclaimed!

It's absolutely brilliant. Not corny in the least.
This film is well worth getting. Come to think of it, I still need the DVD.

+1
Is the english dub high quality or would watching it with subtitles be better?

The dub is so good I've never watched the subtitled version (and I usually use subtitles).
It won an Oscar for a reason. ;p
I honestly can't think of anything that's been dubbed better actually.
I mean, the studio Ghibli dubs have always been really well done, but this one definitely stands out above the others.
I've heard about this from someone whose opinion I trust a lot and I've seen some of it, it looks really good...

But, for some reason, I still haven't found it...
Spirited Away isn't Ghilbi's best work*, but it's still a pretty good movie.

* I am a sucker for Totoro, and Grave Of The Fireflies.
Yup I bought the english dub . . .pretty amazing actually.
It won an Oscar? whoa ok
Just finished watching it . . its brilliant . . wow
After reading this thread, I really want to watch this now. I'll probably DL the dub and watch it sometime in the next 2-3 weeks Smile

He had a post relevant to the topic of discussion, in a discussion that cannot theoretically "expire" or become outdated. Rather than making his own thread for one that existed, he made the right choice, and posted in an existing one.

Try to lose the attitude if you don't know what you're on about, hmm?

I agree completely. Its a little creepy in the begining but it is a perfect example that Japanese anime has a dark side to it. I have it on DVD. Haku's transformation from a dragon to a human spirit was awsome
