OK my friend suggested I should make a thread on this, given its obvious what forum it goes in, I went and did it. Anyway, this as well as this is MY custom R/C Car, it is my competition RC and I have won 3 competitions with it. NOTE: im a really big R/C fan, if you would like more of these, just say.
this car is the Quantum Vandal.
Chassis: Quantum Vandal Chassis Kit.
Servo: BlueBird 10.8kg 6.0v Analog servo
Motor: 10.5T Turnigy 540 size brushless motor
ESC (Electronic Speed Controller): HK 45amp system
Controller and receiver: HK-GT2 2CH
top speed out of this thing is about 28mph. not the fastest R/C I have, but pretty fast still. (Fastest R/C of mine is my Tacon Thriller, goes 47mph)
the battery it runs on is a large 2 cell LiPo (Lithium Polymer)
altogether this makes one awesome car, now when I mean custom, I mean that these parts are not ment to be used together, but 5$ worth mods and running this thing is easy.
Now right now im buying a better set of tires, bead-locks are what im getting it, tired of gluing the tires to the rims, even though im using really strong adheasive glue.
but altogether this R/C was well built.
I got this thing to go up high dunes at Depoe Bay Beach.

I'm just getting into 1/10 touring in the UK, got a Tamiya TA02 I've converted to comply with the rules - bumper, 13.5t brushless muchmore in blinky mode, better gearing. I managed all of 8mph on it's old gearing haha. And just finished yesterday a Mardave R12 mini updating it with V12 spur gear, modern electrics, etc.

US in oregon, just raced in california at NORCAL union city, it was vacation tho, and so im now back to the looking for racing competition status. it was like a whole 4 months ago, the car is still running like it did back then!
got 2nd place twice and 1st place once in NORCAL hobbies. and i need to know how to put pics on here then, I have no links for them, just files...
one day im just gonna make an R/C club, for the fun of having everyone want to race and do R/C stuff.

not trying to double post, but how i practice racing is simply by playing R/C games that my friend and i made!

Depends, is it hobby level, if it is this would be very easy, if not and its just toy level, things wont go very well, using certain components that perform really well together is key to performance, also, the most durable chassis is best for use on that part
just say what is really good about your cars performance AND the bad parts about it.
then I will see what I can do. also, what battery does it use, and how many, the battery is another thing that is an easy upgrade to any R/C, if you know what the car runs on.

EDIT: instead of double posting I thought I might as well just say it on edit, here's tips to make any rc car better:
1. dual rates, you should set them at max, for the best control over your car
2. do trims, this will make driving much easier
3. use softer compounds on dirt and dust where traction is hard to get, use harder compound on-road for there already is some traction, on soft surfaces like clay, use hard tires, for you already have traction and using harder tires will last longer.

Im not an rc expert so i dont understand words like chassis,etc...
The first car has two small front wheels and two lage back wheels.Also,there is a wheel on top of it so if it falls back. Keeps ging.Gg to scyol

chassis is the part under the body, it holds the electronics, the body, the batteries, main thing that it runs on aa will not make this easy, to start, aa dont do well for performance, this part will be tricky, find things like rechargeable batteries, now your car runs on 6 aa's that would be 1.5x6=9V, using a 9v battery or a 8.4v rechargeable battery would work, the other one let me see 1.5x4=6v, using a 6V rechargeable would work best, the car that runs on 4 aa's has the ability to run on rechargeables, and it must be a richiche, and R/C that runs right side up or upside down.
now exactly where did you get this car? knowing who made the car for toy-level R/C is best for upgrading, for then you know what that rc performs like, along with what should be upgraded.
I never like to double post, but given somebody on here might actually know this, would putting the servo on the other servo slot on the traxxas slash mini 1/16 reverse steering? I do not know this so only post an answer if you really know this, I'm fixing my traxxas slash's servo, given it stripped, and the remote lacks features (Needs reversings, and it does not) I need to know how to reverse steering then.
EDIT: a servo is a special motor that controls steering on a car for anyone who does not know that.
auntie gave it to me.One is a thunder tumbler and other is a new bright 150 pickup.

I actually had one of these once, accidentally drove it down a flight of stairs.

There is a fairly easy way to improve speed in an relatively simple R/C car like that one; however, it may or may not work and is fairly likely to damage it. You can replace the standard AAs with these things, which have more than twice the voltage. However, it can easily burn out your car or other device you put them in, so I suggest you be very, very careful. Additionally, these batteries are lithium polymer, which means they are somewhat volatile and require a special charger to use them. Again, be careful!

yes, true, lithium polymer batteries give double the volts, just be careful when recharging them, ive seen pretty bad disasters caused by these batteries Smile
Just to say as well, honestly, voltage is not the only thing effecting the cars performance, weight is another aspect of speed, if you want insane fast, try this, use only two! given it still is more power, but another aspect is playing here: weight, you dont have as heavy of a battery so the motor has more power to use for speed, top speed out of this car is roughly 4mph, on this setup i told you, it should run at about 7mph, noticebly faster. most R/C motors can handle a little more volts, the standard R/C motor can usually handle a max of 9V so 7.4v will give what you want. im pretty sure that there are only a few things you will need to do to make this upgrade. oh and, Cake, you forgot another aspect of LiPo batteries, you need a low voltage cutoff to use them safely.
so heres my tutorial (You will need a little mechanical know-how to do this)
1. take out old batteries
2. get the LiPo AA's
3. Take out the battery tray in the car, this may take some un-screwing given this is a toy-level car
4. get a two-AA holder and solder this in the old terminals of the car remember, get the polarities right, dont want to short circut these batteries. (red to red, black to black)
5. put in a low voltage alarm in the car (This is neccesary for safe running)
6. turn on everything and test the motors and steering, if working, drive and be amazed at better performance.

7. still not impressed? just tell me! ill think of anything that will make it better.

Additional step: when out of battery, good luck finding a charger for the batteries.

EDIT: a good alternative is NiMH they still have a higher C rating than AA's you could use rechargeable NiMH AA's and still get a little speed boost, honestly any battery is better than AA and AAA. phew! giant post!
EDITEDIT: the lithium AA's are single cell, so balancing wont be required, but a charger that charges lithium batteries that stops when done is a must.
