This Ban List is out of date. For the most up to date ban list, please see the Metal Fight Format Rulebook.
The new MFB: Limited format is unique among the other Beyblade formats in that it employs an extensive ban list, meaning certain parts are not allowed in tournament play. The reason there is a ban list is to remove parts deemed too powerful for the format, with the goal of creating a metagame where parts previously deemed uncompetitive have a chance to shine!
The process of determining which parts are too good and which aren't is more of an art rather than a science, and as such the current ban list is more than likely not perfect. There might be some parts that are legal that are truly backbreaking, or there might be some parts that are banned that might not actually need to be banned at all! As such, another goal of the format is to have a dynamic ban list, one that is updated frequently to remove parts that are problematic and to give currently banned parts a chance if they deserve one.
That's where this thread comes in: in order for the ban list to be dynamic, we need input from you, the Bladers! Is there a part that you think is way too good? Do you think something shouldn't be banned that is? As long as you provide a reasonable amount of detail in your posts, feel free to share your thoughts on the matter here!
This section is no longer going to be updated frequently, but it is being kept here for reference if anyone was interested.
This section is a list of the parts that hold a questionable state in the metagame, meaning these parts might need to be either banned or unbanned depending on how they do in testing. This list is by no means exhaustive, but is rather a list of the more obviously questionable parts. There is also a list of parts that have not been tested very much at all; these parts are legal, but only because there isn't a lot of good information on whether or not they need to be banned. If you have the opportunity, please test these parts against popular customs in the Limited metagame and then let us know what you think!

Limited Ban List v1.5, 9/20/16 Wrote:CHANGE LIST
Newly BannedNewly Unbanned
- CRYSTAL/ELEMENT WHEEL: Dark Knight/Ronin
- WHEEL: Gravity (and all Perseus Clear Wheels)
WHEELSCRYSTAL/ELEMENT WHEELS
- All Synchroms
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)Synchroms (that is, Zero-G wheel combinations involving two chrome wheels) are simply too heavy for this format. We are looking to use wheels close to or under about 40g, and the 60+g Synchroms would be far too oppressive in this metagame. Note that non-Synchrom Zero-G wheel combinations (that is, one chrome wheel and one crystal wheel) ARE allowed!
- All 4D/Hyperblade Metal Wheels EXCEPT Jade
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)While not as bad as Synchroms, most 4D wheels are far heavier than this format's ideal weight, and as such these metal wheels are banned. Note that this only includes the metal wheels from Takara Tomy/Sonokong's "4D" series and Hasbro's "Hyperblade" series; Hasbro's "Metal Fury" metal wheels ARE legal, as they weigh substatially less. Also note that other parts of 4D beyblades, such as their tracks, tips, clear wheels, etc. ARE legal; only the metal wheels are banned!
NOTE: As of v1.2, Jade is now legal for Limited play! Test results showed that it would not be too powerful in the Limited metagame despite its relatively high weight, and thus is has been unbanned!
- Basalt
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)Compared to the rest of our meta, Basalt is extremely heavy. When it was first released it dominated the metagame, and some argue it should have been banned prior to the release of the 4D series (a series whose weight creep is likely mostly due to Basalt's presence, in fact). If it were legal in this format it would almost certainly dominate, and as such it is banned.
- Hell
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This might seem like an odd choice, but Hell is very heavy compared to the rest of the Limited meta and is better at just about everything than other Limited wheels. As such, at risk of it becoming a dominant wheel, it finds a spot on the ban list.
- Libra
Explanation (Click to View)Libra has, and always will be a threat to the metagame due to it's ability to perform well not only as one of the–if not the–best Defense Wheels, but as a Stamina Wheel with a slight offensive upside. As a legal part up until v1.4 of the Limited Format banlist, it has proven itself through competition to be too strong to allow it's continued use. While it was legal, it appeared in close to 20% of all Winning Combinations. It's versatility is why it has been placed on the banlist.TRACKS
- Dark Knight/Ronin
Explanation (Click to View)Since the previous v1.4 ban list update was announced where both Libra and Omega were banned, Dark Knight has risen to prominence in the Limited Format metagame. Its use in powerful Attack types with incredibly wide reach in terms of their ability to KO Beyblades of all heights, its ability to outspin some Defense types if it doesn’t KO them, its ability to be paired with any Zero-G/Shogun Steel Chrome/Warrior Wheel, and being left-spin in a predominantly right-spin series have made it into a choice that is undeniably versatile and safe, making other powerful but less versatile and more specialized Attack types less likely to be used. It is for these reasons that we have chosen to ban Dark Knight for this iteration of the Limited Format ban list.BOTTOMS
- BD145
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)Ever since BD145's release, tracks with huge plastic disks tended to dominate the metagame. They are not only extremely heavy; they also provide nigh-impenetrable defense against low attackers, and generally shut out any attacker using a wheel that falls within the ideal Limited weight range. Because they would make defense far too dominate in the Limited meta, all of the tracks based on large plastic disks are banned, which obviously includes BD145.
- SA165
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This is banned simply because it is based on a large plastic disk, which makes it both too heavy and too powerful for the Limited meta. See BD145's explanation for detailed reasons why this is banned.
- E230
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This is banned simply because it is based on a large plastic disk, which makes it both too heavy and too powerful for the Limited meta. See BD145's explanation for detailed reasons why this is banned.
- SP230
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This is banned simply because it is based on a large plastic disk, which makes it both too heavy and too powerful for the Limited meta. See BD145's explanation for detailed reasons why this is banned.
- RS
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This bottom is banned because it is far too powerful for defense, such that it can completely stonewall every Limited attacker that tries to KO it. For the sake of balancing the four main types of Beyblade against each other, this bottom is banned from Limited play.
- RDF
-=-=-Explanation (Click to View)This bottom has the same ability to stonewall Limited attackers as RS and RB, and it comes with the added bonus of hosing opposite-spin as well. As such, it is far too powerful, and is thus banned from Limited play.

* Wrote:* The L-Drago Destroy/Destructor and the L-Drago Guardian wheels come in two parts: a "Metal Frame" (the heavy metal part) and the "Core" (the light plastic part). The Core used by L-Drago Destroy, L-Drago Guardian, and their various Hasbro counterparts is considered the same part throughout all releases and as such is interchangeable between them. This means that the Cores of L-Drago Destroy, L-Drago Guardian and Hyperblade L-Drago Destructor (referred to by Hasbro as the L-Drago III Energy Wheel in both Hyperblade and Non-Hyperblade Releases) are legal within Limited Format when used with Hasbro's Metal Fury "Guardian" and Non-Hyperblades "Destructor". The only things that are banned in Limited are the listed Metal Frames.

v1.3, 5/3/15 (Click to View)
Limited Ban List v1.3, 5/3/15 Wrote:As of v1.3, RS is now unbanned! After seeing the power of Attack types in a format with only RSF and RB available to Bladers for Defense, it was decided to bring back RS to give them more of a fighting chance. Attack types can actually defeat RS, but it is much more difficult. This is balanced by the fact that unlike RSF and RB which can be used for semi-aggressive Attack types, RS has a singular use for Defense. This means that it is a high-risk, high-reward type of part and should therefore accomplish the goal of curbing the power of Attack types in Limited Format, if only slightly.
