I just happened to visit my frequented anime site and I saw this and since it was fairly similar to SAO, heck might as well try it.

Wikipedia's Plot:
"By its eleventh expansion pack, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Elder Tale (エルダー・テイル Erudā Teiru?) has become a global success, having a following of millions of players. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere Pioneers (ノウアスフィアの開墾 Nōasufia no Kaikon?), thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are all logged on at the time of the update, suddenly find themselves transported inside the game world and donning their in-game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer called Shiroe along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki form a guild called Log Horizon so that they may face this world which has now become their reality along with the challenges which lie ahead."

If you do plan on giving this anime a try, let me know what you think!
I'm watching it this season. I do think it is a ripoff of SAO to a certain extent, since there is very little that differentiates the two series', but I like it anyway. The characters are unique at least...I guess we'll find out if the plot is, as well. It's pretty cool that so many of the VAs of Log Horizon voiced characters in MFB! I didn't know that haha
Anyway, I wouldn't avoid watching it just because it's similar to SAO, but depending on how closely related their plots are, it could get kind of tedious or predictable.
watched sao, almost turned into a fanboy. this will probably satisfy it. im going to watch it for free on crunchyroll so ill always be an episode behind members or illegal viewers. sao was not great so this i hope fixes that hole ive had since.
SAO is a ripoff of .Hack, so by extension Log Horizon is a ripoff of .Hack, not SAO.

can i just say, NOTHING IS A RIPOFF! man i say the same thing about digimon. people need to stop complaining about ripoffs an either avoid them or enjoy them.

however yes .hack was the first anime i know of to use the theme of trapped in video game, not that it was entirely good (i heard, i feel like watching it just to get a scope of it).

I'm not complaining. I was just hoping to enlighten The Supreme One to the fact that SAO is hardly original in its premise so that isn't really a good reason to bag on Log Horizon. Forgive me for not adding a [/sarcasm] tag. Hopefully this series second half won't fail as hard as SAO's did.

Eh. I have yet to watch the .hack series. I wasn't bagging on Log Horizon, but .hack started a while ago. Obviously SAO wasn't the first of it's kind, but it's only been a year since SAO was airing & the two are very similar.
