Haha that's crazy. I spend about half of that a term.

And I bought The Queen is Dead by the Smiths today.
My first semestre at college, my books cost over $3000
Wow; what the hell were you taking?

Even for me books hardly cost a grand a year.

Then again I have friends in Health Sciences who spend exponentially more than I do.

book burning 101
What ticks me off is that we don't even end up using all the books. I can live with having to buy them; but don't tell me we need it, only to never open it once throughout the semester.

Probably could have saved 250-300 if I didn't get those books. Textbooks are such a scam
in newfoundland, up until recently high school students had to buy textbooks as well

I used to go to a school that had those Library Late Fee carp. Ya know, the kind where if you stop paying the fees they'll make you purchase the book and pretty much ask for double of what the book is actually worth..

It's kind of easy to get out of it sometimes.

Mainly because they take random books and assume that's what the person's like from their name and assign a book to them....

"Oh hey, look, this kid's got a Portuguese name! Let's just assume he's into Dora stuff cause she's mexican!" Yeah.... they kept saying I signed out a $40 worth Dora the Explorer book....

maybe bring your books back on time?
annually, my books tend to be about $300. i can get a little less than half of it back at the end of the year resale, but still.

private school sucks in this regard.

I've done that as well. Here in Canada they made me buy the grade 12 books; the rest of the years were paid for by the school. Never really understood why Grade 12....

Dubai, I had to buy all the books. The thing was these books were paperback for most grades, and were dirt cheap so it wasn't a problem. Never understood why Math textbooks here are in color, hardbound and have photos. No purpose is solved.

Back to the original purpose of the topic, I just bought a gym membership at my office; time to get back in shape. Cool

Fahrenheit 451 reference? *inb4nobodyknowswhatimtalkingabout*
Most recent purchase would have to be a beyblade, but that's too generic =P Before that was probably this book on how to play guitar, coming along nicely =3
fahrenheit 451 was the poor man's Nineteen Eighty-Four

hey me too
I read Alex Haley's "Roots" when I was in middle school... Fahrenheit 451 was an option for a reading assignment when I was in 5th grade, but I opted for George Orwell's "Animal Farm" instead.
