I have Skull Candy low riders and I think they are pretty decent. I guess they aren't the best value for money ... but they sure as hell look badass, and sound better than the ones you get with your Ipod.

Is Ed Hardy really that bad? Wink

I mean if you want your music to be just overpowering in muddy bass then sure. but a $20 pair of JVC marshmallows (a reference low cost earbud) sound better than $50 skullcandy earbuds

Grado
Senheisser
Audio-Technica
M-Audio
Shure
Etymotic
AKG

these all provide options to fit most users budgets providing superior sound.

Skullcandy and Bose are really ridiculed by the audio community.
i wasn't saying it because i thought they were good, was just curious
sorry if that came off as aggressive. Wasn't my intention.
From person experience, my $10 Skullcandy Ink'd hearbuds are pretty good. Granted, the only thing I can compare them to is Apple standard ones, which are awful.
My $10 Skull Candiy ear buds broke Unhappy
It was probably just me though.

But I just bought another HD camcorder for $350. I'm supposed to get like $30 cash back though through Bing and some other website. I'll be getting paid about $150-$200 for filming a play and editing it.

I also got a pair of ice skates and roller blades for like $45 shipped. I'll be able to get to my classes faster from my parking lot, but taking them off might make the time about the same.
I've got AKG K-55's. Use them for when I'm recording, or on planes and such. Beautiful sound. I'd definitely recommend Sennheiser to the casual listener though, they're really comfortable and they provide a really 'full' sound.

Anyways, I'm getting a 250gb PS3 slim with Uncharted 2 and COD4 tomorrow. Excited XD

why not just wait for COD6? its out next month
Aha, I've been so engulfed in headphone stuffs at the moment.

I hate the stigma attached to Skullcandys, it's so confusing. Some people love them, some hate them. As far as I can tell they're not bad, they're just not as amazing as the super expensive ones, which is understandable as you are only paying so much for them and a good deal of that is for the 'look'. But to go as far as saying that they're worse than dollar store ear buds and so on is just stupid. I'm not sure how people expect me to take their criticisms seriously when they so blatantly over-exaggerate.

That said, I do have my eyes on them, among a few other makes. I'll be getting some headphones soon, there are a number that I like the look of but I not sure what to go with yet. Thing is, I want them to look good as well as sound nice and the ones that sound spectactular, as well as being hella pricey, are not very pretty. =_= Is it so terrible to own sub-decent headphones? I wish the audio buffs weren't so snobby. :X

And Khel....you didn't mean Ed Hardy did you? :\
Ah yes I did mean that. My bad.

Well like I said check out head-fi for low cost options as well.

Because COD 4 came bundled with the PS3, as well as Uncharted 2.
I picked it up today by the way, been playing it non-stop XD
I want to compliment what Khel said. Skullcandy are essentially all style with little substance. They superficially restyle the lineup continually.

It wouldn't be so bad either if they were at least durable, but I've heard and read so many stories about them breaking within a month or two [poor customer service too]. Afaik they're all plastic construction [especially where it counts, hinges and joints].

for $10-15, inked or smokin buds are 'pretty' good buys, I would never recommend buying any of their over ear headphones/cans.

Rocky, what models or type were you considering? also what portable media player you have?

And while I hope me or Khel don't sound that snobby lol I think it is worth being a stickler about this. I'd say all of us enjoy music in some capacity, most of us really loving our favorite albums etc. Therefore buying a great sounding pair of headphones is great purchase.
I see it like this: you buy some thing good, once.
Good is subjective but in this context I mean durable, comfortable, well made and neutral, clear sound. lol

apologies for the diatribe but I hope it make a few people reconsider
PS: never buy WESC headphones. They sound very mediocre; distant, tinny, muffled details, weak bass.
Got an Orangey/Red hoody from H & M - £15
Aha, I know the snobbiness is sort of needed sometimes.....you'll hate me for saying this but the only headphones I can find that look pretty are SKs, WeSC and Aerial 7. I suppose you thoroughly dislike all of them.

Tbh, unless you find something amazing, I'll probably get some anyways. >_>

Still, you're welcome to have a look around though. At the moment I have a Creative Microphoto. I'm not sure if you even know much about that, they're quite old. I might not have it for much longer though seeing as I just broke my grey one (I hast three of them at one point) so now I'm down to one which only has 8GB. :\ I do really like them though, hope I can find a decent replacement. T_T
I just got tickets for Motorheads gig in Nottingham next month, along with a Motorhead jacket/hoodie.

Also Rocky, MP3 player wise Sansas are pretty damn good. I've got one for when I'm out and about running/in a place I don't want to lose my iTouch.
best earphones (buds) under $50, go
of those 3, Aerial7 has designs I've seen before. And lol their Chopper is a rebranded panasonic which are pretty good, I see them often in toronto.
Aerial seems at least to rebrand some decent makes though. Im pretty sure the Tanks are Sony MDR v500 dj phones, which are pretty good. Aerial over SK and WESC imo

I think Koss Portapros would be great

theres these grados, but some find them ugly, i think damn cool

found some old 2006 recomendations on head fi:
Sennheiser PX100 ($33)
AKG K81DJ ($50 - $55)
Philips HP460 ($35)
Philips SHL9500 ($22)
Phillps are new to me but have good reviews, the Senn and AKG are well reputed
hmmmm. check out anything but ipod forums if you have some time too

If you like the aerial7 chopper, buy the panasonic instead save some money.
And if someone is seriously on a tight budget and just want to bump up from the regular ipod buds the JVC marshmallows are a great buy. They go for about 20 USD and they work pretty well. I have a pair and use them a lot for gym use and just general portable carry.

Yeah no doubt, just started using mine again. Especially if you commute, great noise iso [subway].
Hey, did you kramer mod them?
not yet, but have plans on doing so soon.

of course this is getting a little of topic so we can take this discussion to PM or the new gadget thread.
2x PlayStation Network $50
1x PlayStation Network $20

With those I bought:
LocoRoco: Midnight Carnival
Pixel Junk Monsters: Deluxe
Tetris
Hero Of Sparta

I still have PSN money left, thinking about potentially picking up Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Yu-Gi-Oh! R Volume 1
Soul Eater Volume 1

Plan on picking up soon:
DragonBall Z - DragonBox One -
DragonBall Season Two
DragonBall Z: Saiyan Invasion
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time

I was going to pick up DragonBall: Raging Blast, but the demo I played at a friend's house, is ugh. I'll wait for $30. I was going to pick up DragonBall: Revenge Of King Piccolo as well, but like Raging Blast, I can wait for the $30 price point. Since it's quite obvious my wallet hates me.

Glee: The Music Vol. 1
Boo, iTunes gets a bonus track, US Target gets 3 bonus tracks, and US Wal-Mart gets 3 bonus tracks.

Got my copy at wal-mart, and no bonus tracks (And from what I hear, nobody from Canada has found a copy with bonus tracks)

The whole "If you buy from a certain place, you get exclusive songs" is neat and a decent incentive to shop at a specific place, but it sucks when you miss out on songs because you picked one release over another. (Or when the release you have access to doesn't have any bonuses)

Wal-Mart Canada has been dropping the ball recently, they didn't get in the Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen Imax Cut with enhanced footage. It was a Wal-Mart exclusive in the US. Kind of stupid when it's only one of the largest movie releases of this year.
