Most of those members are inactive and a huge portion are bots/spammers. I wouldn't put much stock in that number.
It would be interesting to have a bot that counts how many members have posted in, say, the last month, so give a better idea of the size of our active community.
Using the Members List and last visit info, there are just over 900 users who have logged in in the last month.
