I highly hope you would not get a game simply because you like a specific letter. Both of the legendaries look awesome imo.

I saw this live and freaked out. The introduction and buildup was pretty cool (as was Mr. Iwata's accent haha) and when I saw the full 3D I'm pretty sure I squealed. Boy character's design looks overused, at least it looked decent in the Gen V characters. The girl is updated like always. Legendaries are freaking cool, and they played off X and Y as pretty decent honestly.
Like everyone else, my only complaint is the starter. The fire one though, Fennekin aka the one I'm choosing, looks like it or its evolutions will be part Psychic from the battle scenes, which is freaking awesome. Something other than Fire/Fighting is nice.

I need to get a 3DS it seems, though I would've liked to have been part of the Ambassador Program way back when. At least now it's at a lower price. The graphics were also pulled off very nicely, despite the still rough finishes on the movement and such. This region is so very heavily taking design elements from France, which is good and bad I guess (though that is rather obvious).

Looking forward to this game in the end, despite being 9 1/2 months away. Maybe Serebii will soon be able to release more information, along with any possible Gen III remakes. We all want them. I mean come on Emerald was damn awesome.

The international release and multilingual advertising from the get-go was also a smart move on Nintendo's part. Instead of playing translated ROMs and not buying the game due to already playing a free version, we'll be able to get an officially translated version right off the bat and increase sales for Nintendo overall. The lure of immediate wifi and competitive battling is also great.

Besides, Mr. Iwata is a pretty cool guy: (Click to View)

Really, is this gonna happen every time new pokemon design are released? This is just as bad as all the kids screaming "90s kids are the best!!!". News flash: every gen has its good and bad, so we should stop worshipping the earlier gens because some people are a little too high on nostalgia.

i have a collection of gameboy and pokemon, if you add up the value on todays market that would sell for well over 2000 dollars. all of this was from a small amount of nostalgia when i was little. the reason people praise the 90's are because that (and before) is currently where all the nostalgia is. not a single person misses something they have full access to. also the reason people prefer the old games is because the majority of people like the earlier gens. and when they make new ones people feel as if they are going to be replaced, giving a certain feeling of hatred towards a certain gen
Plus it was season 1. It gets less original when you reuse designs (and start making food based Pokemon). Anyway, no ones answered my question. Which game has mr huge horns as its legendary? Cuz that's the one I'm not buying.
i think that it is x
another thing i noticed was the music. in all of the new trailers the game has music that branches off of the original. this majorly resembles crystal

I hate to be the pessimist (That's usually someone else's job), but Ninetales could use Extrasensory, correct? It was not a Fire/Psychic type. That does not mean Fennekin will not become Fire/Psychic though, it's just a thought.

Also, given the "remake pattern" Nintendo/Game Freak has been using, sadly, there will most likely not be an Emerald remake. They tend not to remake the combination/third version. There was no "LightningYellow" or "MindCrystal" for example. My bet would be the Ruby/Sapphire remakes come next year, after X and Y.
that is true, but notice all of the times they emphasized change, and new in the video

Appearance-wise, yes. It is basically Poliwhirl with an angry face and thicker arms. If this happened now, people would be screaming bloody murder.

really? how about that ice cream thing. they changed a color. and gurdur, and just about every rock type ever.

theyve done this in every gen. no one really complains.

I wasn't arguing about originality... They looked way better than the more recent pokemon. By my count generation five only had like 20 good looking pokemon. Most of the were down right stupid and wierd. Also please don't talk about originality. In comparison to the earlier games generation 5 had a lot less. There were many pokemon that were pretty much revamped ones of pokemon from other generations whereas that generally didn't happen in the previous generations and if it did it was pretty minimal.

Gonna stop now since this is off topic. If you want to continue PM me.
Guys, chill with the whole OLD WAS BETTER thing. I get that several people here are nostalgia hounds and are blissfully unaware that they have wildly outgrown the target audience for Pokémon, thereby making their only attachments/blinding love factor to the older things nostalgia and letting new things free of it trigger this reflex, but there is basically no information about this game yet and we've only seen five Pokémon, so coming in here and fussing over it just makes you look juvenile. This is for discussing the information at hand and as it comes out, and I'm not going to watch page after page fill up with people throwing tantrums and fighting about old generations.

If you're going to extrapolate from only five Pokémon what the entire game's contents will be, grow up.

THANK YOU! I mean seriously people do you not know what goes into a game? Also We shouldn't hate these pokemon we should embrace them with open arms and make new friends, go on new journeys and take on this region full force! I say Its Sixth generation time baby! And Clone is wanting some of that paris influenced cake!
Response to all of the "new gen sucks, old's better" whatever (Click to View)

Genius. That makes some great sense, actually., even though it wasn't you who noticed it, haha.

The people look fairly correct, in terms of past games. (I.E. Large heads, small bodies.)

Chespin looks... Interesting. For once, the Grass starter looks to be my least favorite of the trio.
Fennekin looks to be the coolest out of them, I just like it so much. I don't know why, haha.
Froakie is kind of cool too. I like the overall design of it, and since there are only a handful of frog Pokemon, it's still somewhat unique.

The legendaries don't really remind me of anything, except for the deer one. That reminds me of Axebane Stag, a Magic: The Gathering card. They both look great, IMO. The overworld looks astonishing to me, for a handheld Pokemon game at least. The entire basis of the game is being redone in 3D and isn't sprite based anymore, which I love. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sprites, but it's great to see something new come out, and it's also cell shaded at that. Looks great.

The worldwide release is another great thing. While GameFreak will lose international sales of the Japanese version of the game, everyone can start playing it basically at the same time. That way, we don't have to wait 6 months - a year to play online with others, and only loyal Pokemon fans from other places are left online.

Can't wait for it. Will pick it up on release date, just like I did with Black 2.

Keep my hopes up, no?

I know there probably won't be an Emerald remake per se, however, I was using Emerald as an example for 3rd gen. If R/S remakes don't include the Battle Frontier though, I will be annoyed.

Hopefully they do. I just want a remake...

You are awesome thanks for posting that. Like others I was hoping for a R/S remake.
Same here, 3rd Gen was always my favorite.

Anyways on topic, I'm hardly familiar with Unova anymore considering I lost my DS, so this new place will be crazy. Sorry if this is off-topic, but will this game be able to be played on the DSi?
3DS games can only be played on a 3DS/3DSXL.
Dang. Well played Nintendo. Going off topic for a sec, I actually liked first gen the best. Not sure why...
This thread is not in any way about an R/S remake or what gen you liked best. We have other threads more appropriate for those discussions.
Looks like I'm finally buying a 3DS, haha. The starters look okay, and I'm probably going to pick the fire or water type, depending on the evolutions. The exploration for these games look a little strange though, but the battles and stuff look fun.

I hope someone hasn't posted the same thing, but it just clicked me
Pokemon is mostly about mutated biological Pokemons fighting against each other,in order to earn a badge and finally win the Pokemon league
so biologically speaking,This game may have some genetics involved in it,who knows?

This is a joke, right? Please read posts for once.

Wow. This is only 3DS/XL compatible? Way to force fans into purchasing more, Nintendo. Tired Good thing I already own a 3DS. Well, I dislike the 3D feature, but otherwise, this seems like it'll be a great new generation! I have high hopes!

Now, for my personal opinion on the Starters:

•Fennekin - It's cute, and looks like it holds a lot of punch. If the speculations that it's a Fire/Psychic hybrid, I'll definitely consider it. My only complaint is that it's a bit of a Vulpix rip-off, however I choose Fennekin's design over Vulpix's any day.

•Froakie - Very cute. Somehow, the nodular nasal attachments don't bother me whatsoever. It seems to be very stable and reliable, and it's probably the Starter I'm going with. I don't really have any complaints here.

•Chespin - Highly unattractive. It does seem to carry some punch, but if the speculations are true that is a Fighting/Grass hybrid, it's chances of being my choice Starter are definitely zero. Overall, it looks like an Oshawott/Sewaddle/Nuzleaf hybrid. Not cool.

So, that's my opinion. Overall, I have high expectations, I most certainly will be purchasing, and I'm almost certain I will be choosing Froakie as my starter.

This isn't like B&W 2, they are changing the player's view of the game entirely. Yes, the DS could easily take the Over-the-top camera of the past Pokemon games, and with the much more anime, drawing style of them as well, but this is actually called a "3DS" for a reason...*cough*3-D*cough*
And by the way, this is completely expected...
Did you seriously think that they were actually not going to use the new and better tools set in front of them? Why would they not use the new capabilities of the 3DS?

I wasn't saying that it was unexpected, hah. I was just commenting on how 'slick' their move was in making the VI Generation only compatible with 3DS/XL. You see, now every hard-core Pokémon fan that does not already own a 3DS will be forced to either buy a 3DS or not play the games. It was a sneaky way of making more money, and it was quite expected, also.
Once again, I don't think you understand why it's only 3DS compatible...
They can't do the same things with a DS as they can with a 3DS. Just because they are trying to bring a new way to view Pokemon entirely, it shouldn't be misinterpreted as "THEY ONLY WANT MOAR MONEE". You could turn pretty much any perspective of change into "for the money". The WBO wants us to donate money to make our experience better, CUZ THEY WANT MOAR MONEY.

Yo, first off, it was expected for Pokemon to come out in 3D for years now. We have been waiting since the 90s for a Pokemon game to come out in 3D with a story line, gym battles, and legendary-catching-pokemon missions. Anything similar to the franchises for the Gameboy-Nintendo DS. THe creators and fans like myself had to wait for new and newer technology to be able to have a 3D handheld game. It's not like they're forcing you to go out and buy another console just for that one game. It's a choice of your own. Maybe they wanted to end pokemon with a bang and put 3D for the 6th generation which might be the last but who knows? Pokemon since '96 like wow.... I was only one years old at the time xD.
