Sylveon??? Yeah, it should be steel.... silver = steel. guess we can just assume that for now till further info.
It doesn't look like a steel type to me. I actually really like it, Im hoping it's a flying type, and is actually good.

Then again, with the pattern the other Eeveelutions had, the first part of the name usually indicates its typing (Flare = fire, vapor = water, leaf = grass, etc.) and the colour or body shape can also be an indicator of it's type as well.
And I agree, hopefully it's decent. I don't think it'll turn out to be Flying though, looking at it now and I don't see any indication of wings anywhere.
Syl is more likely to indicate Sylph/s, which are air elementals.

One of the pictures on the official site for it shows it using a move that seems to have feathers in the graphic. http://www.pokemon.com/pokemonxy/en-us/

Just saying.
Yeah, I see what you're talking about. Flying or not, I'm still excited about a new Eeveelution nonetheless.
Don't Eeveelutions' names always have something to do with their type?

Umbra - Shadows/Ghosts - Dark
Esp - ESP/Psychics - Psychic
Jolteon - Electricity - Electric
Flareon - Fire - Fire
Vaporeon - Vapor = Water/Liquid - Water
Leafeon - Leaf/Plant - Grass
Glaceon - Glaciers/Ice - Ice

So if this little guy is named Sylveon, what does that have to do with Normal or Flying?!! Need some name origin info like gnow.

Gonna stick with the whole new type thing and Sylveon is the Pokemon to showcase it like Steelix was to Steel and Umbreon was to Dark.

Plus, if Unova really was the reset (Or Kanto redone), and Gen 6 is basically the Johto to Gen 5, this might mean we will get 2 new types, and Sylveon could be one of the Pokemon to showcase it.

You couldn't take five seconds and read up to where I explained how Sylveon could mean Flying? Really? You posted all of this nonsense, including some weird speculatory stuff about this being any kind of reset, which is obvious bull, without taking any time at all to read first.

Outstanding.
My first thought when I read "Sylveon": Silva - Latin for woods. But then I realized that can't be right because we already have Leafeon as a Grass type. I still think it's flying, partially due to this type chart, Hazel's explanation, and its own appearance.

From the clip, it appears to know Swift, Trump Card, and two other moves I can't identify. One might be Focus Blast.[/color]
Thanks for the post Hazel. To bad the video isn't that long. I've been waiting for a flying type Eevee.
I just noticed something ..

One of the two that are across of each other, are super-effective against it.

Leafeon > Vaporeon
Umbreon > Espeon
Flareon > Glaceon
Jolteon > ???

By the way, that moved looked a lot like Brave Bird or something ..
At this point if it isn't Flying-type, there's basically no way anything about it will match up.
People are seriously considering steel? For that?! Which also happens to be the lightest of the eeveelutions?

lol

It doesn't look like something that would fly, to me (though the ribbon/bow like parts do look kinda windswept), but then it reminds me of Skyla for some reason, and the only two (sensible) leads I found on the name where sylph and silvia - which would indicate flying or grass, the latter being done already. So if I had to put money down, flying type.
As for the move in that picture, if you watch the video it doesn't really seem feathery. The next move is almost certainly trump card and then I don't know what.

I'm still holding out for it to be a normal type though - and hopefully retain eevee's adaptability ability.

As much as I like the design, I must say that the fact the type isn't immediately obvious like the other eeveelutions makes it seem kinda... I don't know, unfitting for the eevee family?
To me it looks like a 3rd evolution of Skitty lol, but I can't wait to see a shiny version of it (if they have one) pink is not my thing ...
I think that Sylveon is a fighting type because at the first looks on youtube it has Focus Blast
So Sylveon is most likely to be flying correct?
Focus Blast is a particularly ambiguous move, because an extremely large number of non-fighting type Pokémon can learn it.
Pshh, we all know Sylveon's gonna be Fire/Fighting!

All jokes aside, it's definitely flying. It's the only one that makes sense. Like th!nk said, it's also one of the lightest eeveelutions. Something that's gonna fly has to be pretty light, no?
Haven't Xerneas and Yveltal been announced as "light and sound types"? If they are, Sylveon could be a light type.

What ? No ...

Sources please ..
It's another rumor floating around the net.

General guide to new pokemon releases: if you hear something, check if it's on serebii.net (generally, either here: http://serebii.net/xy/ or the front page). If it isn't, it's probably not true, and you definitely shouldn't discuss it. 's much like us and beyblades, really.
It'd be pretty sweet if Sylveon is a Normal/Flying type (w/ Adaptability), but that's pretty unlikely. They are eventually going to run out of types if they're going to expand on the Eevee family though.
The eevee family have always been monotyped, and were I a gambler, I'd put good money on it staying that way.

As for running out of types, have you considered the idea that they might just, you know, stop? I mean, for one thing, there's only so many ways to evolve a pokemon - and only so many of them that imply a typing.
I know, just wishful thinking haha.

And I have considered the idea, but I do disagree with you. They always have to come up with new ideas that make new games worthwile. In Gen IV, we had a lot of new evolutions and new items to induce it. For all we know, the same thing could happen in Gen VI. Obviously, there is a chance that it will not happen, but again, wishful thinking.
The main limitation is the typing, really. And given they tend not to introduce new uses for old methods even where viable candidates are available (moon stone and sun stone not evolving eevee into umbreon and espeon confused me a lot as a kid), it will start to get a little confusing eventually. Either way, the main indication is the eevee's evolutionary line tend strongly to being only one element with each being a representation of that element (admittedly sylveon evidently does a poor job of it, but whatever). I'm sure they'd fill out monotype evolutions before they went onto dual types as to not break the pattern without a need to (though to be fair, flying is an interesting argument - all but one flying type (not counting arceus forme) is dual typed - often with normal where flying alone might make sense). By that point, eevee will already have a ridiculous number of evolutions. Cramming more on after that? Sure, I joked about the eventuality of "Gotta Catch 'Em All, All 1000 Of The Darn Things" as a kid before R/S were released and we're getting real, real close to that scary milestone, but this is a single pokemon, and you're adding... well, I am too tired to do the maths, but the number of possibilities before any "completion" in terms of types... I doubt it heavily, basically.
I see your point now. Sorry for wasting your time replying to me.
