I have been working on Gryph for a long time now. I just knew this wheel had major potential, and have come up with several Gryph combos that I never posted because they were just not quite competitive enough. I finally decided to step away from pure attack combos and focus more on a balance style force smashing, grinding combo. So I present to you.....
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230(normal)BSF
MSF:
Extra weight is always good for anything that force smashes.
Gryph:
Gryph's major strength lies in its force smash or its upper smash depending on how it is connecting with its opponent. So I decided to go the force smash route and stick it at the 230 height. The reason for going with Gryph Gryph is because when it is Synchromed with itself also has the unique ability of having an extremely high spin velocity. That coupled with E230's disk works a lot like a plastic Compact in that it grinds away at the opponents stamina. However, that only works in this way if the opponent is only making contact with the disk, because Gryph tends to have a decent amount of recoil which makes it unable to grind against the opponent.
E230(normal):
I have already explained the grinding that E230' disk provides combined with Gryph's spin velocity. E230's disk also works as a scoop and sometimes lifts lower opponents up into the bottom Gryph which can cause a "pinch" to happen that will often KO the opponent if there is not a wall in the way. E230 also has the added defense boost that will help a little in case you end up staring at a Flash across the stadium. Another interesting thing the disk does is that it helps keep Gryph from running head first into defensive combos that could possibly take advantage of Gryph's recoil and end up KOing it.
BSF:
I have been working very hard to find a home for this little guy. BSF performs very similar to MB (which is probably a good substitute). It can tilt to help "scoop" up lower opponents, or force smash them. BSF also gives this combo the aggressive movement it needs, and a decent amount of stamina.
Tests:
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. Duo Aquario 230D
Duo always launched first.
Gryph: 8 (0 OS, 8 KO)
Duo: 12 (12 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 40.0%
Duo at a 230 height is probably this combo's biggest weakness. With Duo's lack of recoil and the fact Gryph does not have much smash from the side, makes KOing Duo 230 hard. However, very skilled attack users could probably up this win %.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. Phantom Cancer W145WD
Phantom always launched first.
Gryph: 15 (5 OS, 10 KO)
Phantom: 5 (5 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 75.0%
The key to winning this is to launch at about 90%. Otherwise, if Phantom gets a wall save, Gryph can end up outside the stadium because of their combined recoil. Other than that, Phantom's only hope is to use its recoil to stay away from Gryph without getting itself KOed.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. Duo Aquario W145WD
Duo always launched first.
Gryph: 10 (7 OS, 3 KO)
Duo: 0 (0 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 100.0%
I only did 10 rounds here because Duo did not have a chance at this height. If Gryph and E230's disk didn't pinch it out, then E230's disk would just grind Duo's stamina out and left Gryph with plenty of rotations left. This is one situation where Duo's lack of recoil really hurts it, because it has no choice but to sit there and take it.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. Phantom Cancer 230D
Phantom always launched first.
Gryph: 9 (0 OS, 9 KO)
Phantom: 1 (1 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 90.0%
Again, only did 10 rounds because the only hope Phantom had here was a wall save. You still want to launch around 90% just to be safe. Since Gryph doesn't have as much smash from the side, that also means it doesn't suffer as much recoil as it did when it was force smashing the lower Phantom combo.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. MSF-H-Saramanda Reviser BD145RDF
Reviser always launched first.
Gryph: 10 (10 OS, 0 KO)
Reviser: 0 (0 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 100.0%
This was probably a pointless test because Stamina should be able to beat defense. But I just knew that someone would say "why didn't you do vs. Defense test?", so I did a quick 10 rounds. However, there is something to note here, Gryph can actually KO defense combos if you bank it enough to where the disk doesn't get in the way. It is just much safer to straight shot to stall them out because it has no problem OS them, and so that you don't chance a recoil self KO.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. MF-Flash Orion S130RF
Flash launched first on even launches, Gryph launched first on odd.
Gryph: 17 (16 OS, 1 KO)
Flash: 3 (0 OS, 3 KO)
Gryph Win %: 85.0%
Because BSF is so tall, Flash was doing nothing but hitting the disk and under the disk. Gryph moves so fast that Flash would have to not only get lucky to connect with it, Flash also had to hope Gryph was at enough of a tilt that it could make contact with its metal wheel. Flash will have to be at a higher height to KO this combo consistently.
MSF-Gryph Gryph E230BSF vs. Gargole Dragooon BD145EDS
Dragooon always launched first.
Gryph: 0 (0 OS, 00 KO)
Dragooon: 10 (10 OS, 0 KO)
Gryph Win %: 0.0%
This combo is going to have the same weakness Duo 230MB has to spin stealers/equalizers. However, since Gryph has more attack than Duo, hopefully it will be able to KO some of the other popular Dragooon combos like SA165EWD and B: D.
Not only could this be competitve but it is also extremely fun to use, and to watch. Seeing an opponent get "pinched" out of the stadium has to be one of the coolest KOs to witness. I hope everyone enjoys the new combo! I would love to see others test this out. I will appreciate any suggestions, and I will try my best to do any requests if I have the parts. The next tests I have planned is vs. Duo 230MB, and vs. other Dragooon combos.

The Launch: (Click to View)
Very simple...Do a normal bank shot against anything that is not a defense combo. Against defense, just straight shot and stall. I do not do a sliding shot with this because BSF tends to hop which makes it lose some of its starting stamina.
