What the hell is with that trailer? 0_o Anyway, cool I guess. I mean, nice to see some new DBZ. Will this be considered part of DBZ Kai? And also, not that the creators even care, but where in the hell will this fit into the canon? As we all know, Dragon Ball movies just love to destroy any official timelines or relevance to the show, and I am sure this will be no different...

Oh, ya, and if past experience has taught me anything, this is probably going to suck too Tired
This looks great!! :o *dies*
Thank god its not another Dragonball Evolution! This looks great. Smile

"The film is set between the 517th and 518th installments of Akira Toriyama's original manga. Specifically, it is set during the "lost decade" of story time after the end of the battle with Majin Buu. Kuririn, Piccolo, Vegeta, and other familar characters will appear in the film. The film is not a spinoff, but a story in the official history of Dragon Ball. "

I don't know why you'd think this has anything to do with Kai. It specifically states "DRAGON BALL Z". Tongue_out_wink
Can't wait to see this in English

Funimation will more than likely get the license to dub it at some point after the film is shown in Asia, count on it.

...Can..can it be? A movie that won't destroy DBZ canon?! Joyful_3

Thanks To for the info there. Now I actually have some hope for this movie.

I only assumed it was Kai because of the newer animation style, it was the latest installment of DBZ, and to my knowledg, Kai did not receive any movies on its own. But what does it matter really? DBZ is DBZ, so it wouldn't matter if the word Kai was there or not. Plus, Kai was just a directors cut, so making a Kai movie wouldn't make much sense now that I think about it.

And ya, I was really scared for a second that this was going to be another live action piece of garbage. Thank goodness I was wrong...

Kai was a flop and in that series this movie wouldn't be able to take place given the fact that it takes place after a storyline that doesn't exist in Kai.

Because Funimation sure picked up and dubbed Yo Son Goku & Friends Return!, Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans, and Episode of Bardock, right? Nothing is guaranteed.

Bardock's episode was dubbed. I think both were, actually. o_o

Personally, I enjoyed Kai. Not that I don't love the old DBZ, I grew up with it, but the old filler was so annoying at times...
No, Episode of Bardock has not been dubbed into English. This is Episode of Bardock:

You're probably confusing it with the TV special.

Episode of Bardock, and Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans have/will only be released in North America/Europe as subtitled only bonus features for video games. PtetSS was a bonus in Raging Blast 2, and Episode of Bardock will be a bonus in Dragon Ball Z for Kinect. The 2008 special has never been released outside of Japan at all.
i was about to face palm so hard when i saw the real-life settings i wonder what will it be about
I really, really hope this gets dubbed by Funimation and released in cinemas over here
i need to watch it!!!!StupidStupid
hope that this movie is gonna be good
25+ years, and this anime still isn't dead Smile
I wonder what it will be about, since last we saw Goku, he absorbed the Dragon Balls, and in that preview hes an adult, not a kid...
Maybe this will take place in between the Buu Saga and GT.
I also wonder if this will start a new series...

As To already stated, it will take place before GT and after the Buu Saga.
When was it stated? I looked through the topic and I didn't see that unless I wasn't looking good enough.

I'm willing to bet that this will be the same as those movies, Funimation hasn't been dubbing the more recent films, although I must say, after watching the Funimation. dub of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, with Funimation anything is possible.
