These games are typically called "brawlers", or what I like to personally call "hack-and-slash" games. You might've heard or played some of these games before: Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Sengoku BASARA/Devil Kings, hell even Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Warriors and One Piece: Pirate Warriors. We'll even throw in that Saint Seiya: Sanctuary Battles.

Basically, these type of games are about DECIMATING army hordes with wild and flashy but tactical moves with wide range of movements. You block, you dodge roll, you jump, you swing, and you destroy. You level and power up your characters along the way with new weapons, abilities, and whatever you can get.

I tried Devil Kings because I became a rising fan of Sengoku BASARA a few years back. Honestly, I hate how they made it fantastical than the "fantastical history" the original game had. But it didn't effect gameplay that much, and it was still fun.

I do want to get into Samurai Warriors, though. Anyone play the first Samurai Warriors for the PS2/XBOX? What's the difference between Samurai Warriors and Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legend? As a rising SW player, would it be better to get Xtreme Legend instead?
