Well, finally Leon managed to get the go-ahead for us to make this thread, something that I think will be really beneficial to the BeyWiki Project.

So, basically, a suggestions thread, the title basically says it all. I will post some of my suggestions later on, I'd rather not abuse the first post thing.

This is not a thread for requesting articles - it is for discussing the direction of the BeyWiki project and making suggestions for improvements to it. Articles are written when users write them.

I'll also be trying to maintain a list of "good" suggestions here - basically those that are well-reasoned and that other members generally seem to agree with, as well as updating it with any official response.

So yes, post your suggestions (and the reasons behind them)!
Is the team idea gonna happen since I know he's busy with beydays and all but Kei was supposed to have time now that he's off school. Also the thing we were discussing in one draft about related versions and stuff should be done.
I don't think it's been aided by my own inactivity here of late (I've only been slightly above Kei's practically vegetative state in relation to the wiki), something I've just sent a message to Kai-V about... There are reasons for it that I'd rather not go into here, but either way, Kai-V and Shabalabadoo have been the only really active people in terms of getting drafts up to scratch and writing things of late, from what I've seen. From what I understand, people have to show that they are capable of it, and of doing what Kei usually does with getting drafts up to standard, adding the finishing touches and so on. Obviously, I still strongly feel a team is the right way to go, but yeah.

And yes, I'd like the related versions thing to happen to, but until we get anything from the committee, there's very little we can do... At least this thread should let us keep track of that stuff better. I'll be going through the errors on the wiki thread for suggestions like that in the next couple of days and summarising them for the first post.
As Shinn has brought it up elsewhere, I'd like to see an option to organize beys by numerical order, instead of alphabetical. It would help me greatly when browsing the wiki. I understand it's a somewhat difficult task, haha.

We have a release lists for that which has links to all the ones we've got articles for(I put them there for the plastics and HMS).
Ah, sweet! Hopefully one for MFB will be up soon, as it's relatively easy to categorize. Thanks Ultra.
There's a version for MFB too. They've been there forever (not with links though).
Haha, homie, you mean this:

?

Edit: and by homie, I meant Raigeko13, haha.
I think? But I really need some information about Phantom Orion BGrin actually. So,I'm waiting..
That isn't really what this is for. This is for suggestions toward the general direction of beywiki and stuff like that. Also there is a draft created for it.
GAH HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE!?

Well at least now I can see it all! Thank you both for your help.
Added a bolded passage to the OP to prevent further misunderstandings about the point of this thread. Will have some proper suggestions myself tomorrow, probably, as well as hopefully getting together suggestion stuff from errors on the wiki.

Just a general one, that we do need to get hasbro product lists up, and have them updated like the Takara ones, and perhaps the "MFB Product List" and so on should mention (maybe in the title) that they are takara lists.
OK, I think I need some suggestions : include Zero-G products inside the MFB Products List because it is technically still part of the Metal Fight Beyblade toyline, or make a whole new page ? Ideally I would do both, but it would just seem dumb.

Alternatively, I think I could make a redirect of "Zero-G Product List" -> MFB_Product_List#Zero_G or something. If "zero" even works in the searches ...
I would include it in the MFB List for sure, seeing as the parts are cross-compatible.

Redirects are basically always helpful, we need more of them for a few things.

Post redirect suggestions here too then.
I think you should just put them in the MFB product list.
Yes, same here.
After BB-126 just give it a small space separating them and begin with BBG-01.
Glad to see this finally up...

My idea for the related Beyblades section of the article still stands (mentioned by Ultra in this thread) and I am in complete agreement with th!nk about having an article for every bey; that way people can evaluate just how good their specific Beyblades are, and if they are worth buying. On top of that, Beywiki would be more comprehensive, and be able to compete with Beyblade Wikia, which may be inferior to Beywiki, but is still ahead of Beywiki on search engine ranks, which is a problem.

A drastic solution would be to change the name of Beywiki so that we are no longer confused with the Beyblade Wikia...but a plausible solution none the less...

A while ago, I also PM'd Kai-V, suggesting that the WBO and Beywiki need more "allies". Essentially, this means making agreements with other forums, shopping sites, and maybe even some non-Beyblade related sites in order to gain more pages to link to us, to boost our Google rank. And the sooner we hold another event with Toywiz, the better. Beyblade Wikia is not ahead of us because they are better; they are ahead of us because they are backed by Wikia, which is a highly reputable organization that uses MediaWiki like we do. The only difference is, Wikia has a wiki for almost everything, while we have one for one topic. Reputation and information value is also a key factor, and because Beyblade Wikia is under the division of Wikia, and we are an independent site, naturally, they will come up 1st in search results. That is why our information here on Beywiki must be that much better. I wont go further into this though, as Kai-V did say the committee was discussing this exact same issue and possible solutions. These are the techniques I have applied to Zoids Wiki (the wiki I run, also powered by Wikia), which is now the 1st search result on Google for "Zoids". (was not before). I have already offered the possibility of linking certain Zoids Wiki articles to certain Beywiki articles, given some minor connections the 2 franchises share. So Kai-V, if you ever want to take me up on that, shoot me a pm, and I will tell you what articles would have the link.
Yo, "Beywiki" was ours first, and they are the ones who removed the 'a' from their name later on. But I already discussed it with them anyway, so I suppose it is not really worth reviving the issue, although it still angers me when someone posts here calling the other site "Beywiki" ...
Wikia is the organization that is made up of several Wikis. Anytime a Wiki is made through Wikia, the full default (and preferred) name of the IP address will be something along the lines of, http://www(insert name here).wikia.com. That Wikia is then referred to as the, (insert name here) Wiki, because it is one Wiki that is part of the larger Wikia group.

Technically, the "Beyblade Wikia" is just the "Beyblade Wiki". We merley address it with an "a" here in order to prevent further confusion within our own forum community. Even though we came 1st, their name is not as flexible as ours, thus why things are the way they are. That is why I recommended a minor name change to Beywiki. But that is up to the committee, not me.
Wikia and Wikipedia are affiliated, they are just different areas of the same thing. Both are backed by MediaWiki because they are both affiliated. Even though MediaWiki can be used by 3rd parties, I have seen posts on Wikia's main pages that they are affiliated. If I am mistaken, provide a source, and I shall recant that part of my statement. Regardless of if I am right or wrong about Wikia and Wikipedia being related, the point of my post is not diminished; my advice still applies even if that is true or not.
Very well, I was wrong about that then, you have my apologies.

Still, the ideas and concepts still stand. I will edit my posts to reflect this, so that is is more clear
I have removed the sole mention of Wikipedia from that quoted post, and replaced it with a correct explanation. Thanks for letting me know.

Do not worry, I know you were not trying to diminish my points, but I just want to make sure that the validity of my post itself is not doubted by others, which now it will not be. If that mistake had gone unnoticed, then it would have been a problem later on, so thank you Grin
Honestly, I don't think we need to be so worried about "beating" the Wikia site. In the end, we're both aiming for the same thing, so unless there is an issue in terms of plagiarism, which was sorted out a long time ago now, there's really no need to be concerned. Sure, there is the issue of confusion, but there's nothing that can be done about that, even a name change would not help matters that much, at least nowhere near enough to compensate for how rash it would look. Yeah, we could compete for google pagerank, but that time could be better spent on improving the quality and scope of the wiki.

If there is to be any competition, it should be waged on the grounds of content alone, which will directly benefit both of us as we all strive to improve.

I mean, if you really want to take a more directly competitive route, then we should aim to make our articles more engaging, especially for younger readers, beyblade's target demographic, as from what I've heard, they come across a little dry, haha. Of course, it would be no small task.
Having a video in an article with the combos given is my suggestion for that. Not sure if that's possible but I think it would be good.
