this is just a thread to discuss the new call of duty, just share your're thoughts on it here is the trailer if anyone hasn't watched it http://www.callofduty.com/blackops2/videos/reveal
It was amazing. It's like ME3 and Halo combined. I might order it early for a couple extra dollars, but it'll be worth it. I'm glad the XM8 is coming, so is the ACR 7.62 Model. Apparently the Intervention is coming back to the game, and there will be no support killstreaks Grin
Personally..I dislike it. Mostly because since MW2 it has gotten stale. It's become nothing but a cashcow.
me too, i don't really that seance it's like 2025 why is graphics so bad and i wish they made a game just for zombies, and the title Call Of The Dead just the map but i am hoping for a different kind of zombies
They really need to stop releasing a new COD every year. Why is this called Black Ops II? They clearly want it to be Ghost Recon:Future Soldier in first person. My favorite part is that rather than go into a time or conflict they haven't visited (Grenada, Gulf War, Falkland Islands War, The Afghan Conflict with the Russians, In fact, they never did actually address the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, they just skated around it and made Russia the enemy again, THE KOREAN WAR), they just make up unlikely conflicts. There are a thousand ways to prevent the series form getting stale, creating conflics with the Russians in EVERY GAME is not the answer. I mean seriously, the USA and Russia are not at war, why does Activision like to pretend we are even nerous about that. China and Norh Korea are more likely agressors! [/rant]
^People want new games and they want more money.

Saw the trailer - I know it's not the multiplayer but damn, it gave me chills and got me extremely excited for the release.

Yeah, that's true, but Halo, Gears of War, Battlefield, Killzone, and Resistance are much better products because they wait 2-3 years between each game. Maybe if IW(I guess its Sledgehammer now) or Treyarch spent more time developing each game then they wouldn't have such mediocre to poor quality games. At first I like every COD but after about 2 weeks, they completely loose their appeal. I played Halo 3 for 4 years, because it was fun and a great game, not because there wasn't a newer Halo game out yet. I played ODST for 2 years for the same reason. The only COD game I can come close to that with is MW2, but I only payed that game for a full year, mainly because IMO Black Ops sucked after 2 weeks. If the games only cost $30 a piece I wouldn't be nearly as angry about it. I just think we need 1 or 2 years of not thinking about COD for once. MW3 was the first time they changed something significant, and I like Survival more than Zombies, but I probably would appreciate it more if BO hadn't filled up the next year's gap. At this point the games sell based on name alone, which is the only reason they have record breaking sales, but at some point all those anouilh g 12 year olds spewing profanity over their headsets will want a new game.

All that being said I honestly hope with a my heart that BO 2 is a good game, because I LOVE good games and I would be perfectly willing to part with my money because of a good game, but I've noticed a trend over the last 7 games/years, and according to the trend i've noticed I will be fun for 2 weeks, and the. after that, never again.
According to supposed leaked screenshots, Zombies will have a story mode along with the usual survival and there might be more modes like something similar to MW3's Infected.
Hasn't the Zombie Mode always had a storyline?
A very loose one, yes. But I wouldn't call it a story because of how loose it is..

Kinda excited. Taken a LOOONNNGG break from CoD, so maybe this will bring me back into it for a while. I haven't learned much about this one tbh.. I kinda like to figure it all out when I play, not online RIGHT now.

Couldn't agree more with Thresher, a new CoD every year is sickening.
Kinda agree, it's hard to catch up per se, and if they had released one every two years, the games would be a lot better and probably have more content. Rather than working on them after release.
Not only has the series gotten repetative, but this sequel just looks so...uninteresting an bizarre

I will be picking up many games over the next few months, and this will NOT be one of them
The Black Ops 2 trailer did not really cut it for me. It kinda looks like a bland Halo-Tom Clancy matchup with unusual looking air crafts. With other games I want coming out in that time frame (NBA 2K13, Resident Evil 6, and hopefuly Sly Cooper Thieves in Time) I dont believe I will be purchasing this game.
Can't wait!! If you research and look around websites there are some downsides but Strikeforce mode sounds awesome!! I advise to research more about Strikerforce
here is the new extended demo from e3, this demo is amazing, separating it from all other call of duty games, being able to use vehicles. hope everyone enjoys the new demo.
World at War had tanks...and every single shooter on the market has vehicular gameplay at this point...

The only thing that makes me even slightly interested in this game was the rumor I heard about 8 person zombies...but I would rather not buy a game to play just one mode...

I appreciate Treyarch trying to move away from the stale repetitiveness of the COD franchise, but honestly, this game reaks of overcompensation...it is just way to much of an extreme change...

When I used to think of a possible Black OPS 2, I thought of a sequel that would improve in-game weapon/class balancing (before it is said, no, almost all COD games have failed to achieve decent game balancing in multiplayer) and that would continue with Mason's story, and answer alot of the unanswered questions and secrets that made the 1st Black Ops such a great game. So much could have been done...

My final concluding thoughts...what a disappointing waste for a sequel...

In terms of game mechanics itself, they seem to be nicely polished and improved. I just wish they could have been applied to a better story/game setting...the future and Treyarch do not mix well at all...

Still, I will keep an open mind, and see how the game fairs in the eyes of the gaming world upon its release...but as it stands right now, I feel no inclination to preorder this... especially since Halo 4 is being released the week before this game, and that is all I will be playing for some time...(for the record, I am devoted to good games more than franchises, so no real bias here)

...did anyone else here some familiar voice actor voices? I here some Funimation voice actors.. specifically that girl voice...
Black Ops 2 sounds like an interesting idea. I know graphics dont mean anything but I really think the graphics engine will need an update if it's going to compete with Halo 4. I dislike new Call of Duty games every year. But I heard that Black Ops 2's development was underway from the moment Black Ops was completed. I like the fact that your decisions have and impact and Strike Force sounds interesting with the amounts of different perspectives. Such as either playing as a soldier, the tech engineer who controls battlefield drones, or a mixture of both. With your success or failure changing your campaign's storyline. I'm going to keep watch on this game.
I pre-ordered this at gamestop yesterday, got a poster depicting the game's cover art.
And as for the people complaining about this is too much of a change- CoD fans wanted a change, and you got it. I really don't understand why people are being so whiny about the change.

Because no honest gamer actually wants change, they just want more of the same. Why would you ruin a proven formula that people like?

Call of Duty has gotten repetitive. The futuristic setting of BO2 is a welcome change in my opinion.
Both of you are wrong.
Before reading this again, do not assume I am a Halo fan..believe me, i will be the 1st one to throw 343i under the bus should the game suck...and as i said before, I wont fully bash COD:BO2 until it is released and professionally reviewed.

Devotees to a franchise want no change to a game they consider nostalgic and better off left untouched
People who play for the game itself always want change to make the games better; to much of the same gets boring

Somewhere in the middle, there is a different standpoint. Improve the quality of each game in a series without changing the feel of the game. Call of Duty in my opinion has failed to do so as of late. This game will be no different. It fails to add anything unique to the franchise; whats more, the new setting and story is so far-fetched and wild, it is just out of their element...leave future carp to Infinity ward, Treyarch...stick to doing what you do best, except next time, do what you do best, and don't make it the same exact thing again and again...that goes for you to Infinity ward, and all of you at Activision..

Halo has learned from its mistakes...the purpose of Halo 4 is to prove that a sequel can re-invent itself as a franchise in a way that it still feels like the old games but better, with new improvements and enough worthy additions other than a graphics revamp to make the game worth playing. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 seemingly fails to achieve that in any way

Honestly, the repetitiveness of this franchise is starting to get old for me. MW3 mulltiplayer was fun and all, and thy had some great ideas they can later improve upon, but it just wasn't enough.

I asked a Gamestop counter girl once about her opinion of this game, who has probably played every video game known to human beings, and she loved Black Ops and MW

"It is like beating a dead baby"

That sums up my own previous feelings toward this game pretty nicely...

I would also have a bit more patience for this tittle if they didn't have the balls to put their release date 1 week after Halo 4. Frankly, I find that to be a tad bit assuming on Activision's part...and not a good choice for a release date, giving the current standings on both games.

Activision has always done that. They put COD in close proximity with every Halo release date, and this time they are doing it to try to steal members of the Halo fanbase. That is the only reason they would put a futuristic title within a week of Halo. I don't think it'll get them anywhere, because they release games on multiple platforms, Halo is Xbox only so there isn't much to be gained. BO2 is going to break another record with another mediocre game. they do it every year and 12 year-olds never get tired of it. They might as well make it T for teen because their is nothing mature about it.
I see no one has posted this, so here it is, the Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Trailer.

I have to say, IMO, it looks AMAZING, I think Treyarch is saving CoD from being too repetitive. I'm liking the 10 point Create-A-Class system, it gives you a lot more variation. I'd go 1 primary weapon, no secondary, and 6 perks, hah. Can't wait for this game to come out. Eee

Despite my pleas., my brother pre-ordered the game before he left for camp. On the bright side, I will get to play on Nuketown again, but I would have rather not pre-ordered this game.
Got it recently, the game is smoother than any Call Of Duty game ever made. Most likely this will probably be the last COD I buy because the series is getting a little stale. Other than that I think it's better than any previous COD games like MW3 and Black Ops etc.
