I'll probably do a couple of these a week just to make it a regular segment on the blog, but keep the submissions coming! I'm excited for this.

Cool beans. Just as a note, I find my worst matchup to be against Blackwings (although I haven't played X-Sabers with this deck yet).

Enjoy, and let me know what you think! I didn't touch on the side deck, but if you want some advice on that I'll be happy to help you. Smile

Because Crystal Beasts are neither top-tier nor anti-meta?

Idc Pinching_eyes I love my Crystal Beasts XD I've had them for about 4 years now and its my favorite deck to use.

Hm, well it definitely seems more consistant. I'm not sure I like cutting out the Treeborns, but I see your reasoning.

And I can't believe I overlooked Trag! D'oy!

Sidenote: You forgot to add Scrapyard in the recap, so the deck list there is 39 cards.

EDIT: And I would like some advice on side deck, as I'm going to a regionals on Sunday and have no idea what to put in.
Fixed up the typos and various errors.

As for your side deck, do you actively play at a locals? What do you see the most there when you play, if so? Also, what do you most expect to see at the regional? Do you find yourself having any trouble with any match ups besides Blackwings?

I play semi-regularly at my locals. Mostly Blackwing/Quickdraw players here, with an occasional GB deck. I don't see much else. I played a couple Lightsworns and that's about it. I've never faced X-Saber or GKs, which surprises me.

The regionals I'm going to is actually not in Toronto (it's in Missasauga) so I'm not sure if it's still the same compostion.

Blackwings give me a lot of trouble (three losses at last regionals against BWs), and GBs can ruin so many plays if I can't stop a Murmillo/Retiari tag. I'm usually fine against Quickdraw, as long as they don't make Stardust too early in the game. That's all the match ups I can recall.

EDIT: BTW, you still have Magic listed as 15 cards in the recap. There are 16 including Scrapyard.
EDIT 2: Also, you say to cut One For One since I would only have two targets without Treeborn Frogs, but Scrap Searcher is a target as well.
OK, so here's what I recommend.

2 Consecrated Light
2 DD Crow
2 Effect Veiler
2 Nobleman of Crossout
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
3 Royal Decree
1 Royal Oppression
1 Mind Crush

It's unlikely that you'll see very many GB decks, but I included enough in the side deck to deal with them (2 Veiler, 2 Bottomless, Oppression).

Blackwings are actually my main deck right now, and I'll be the first to tell you that there's really not that many great sides against them. Royal Decree is great and if you go first and get the Decree up, you're probably going to cruise to an easy win, but almost all (read: good) Blackwing players main deck (or at least side) 2 MST, as well as one or two Seven Tools of the Bandit. Consecrated Light isn't really that great either, as most Blackwing players expect to see it in games two and three and generally have their own outs to it (sided Cyber Dragon and Thunder King, as well as mained Book of Moon), but it's really all you can do. You already main Cyber Dragon, so that will help a lot in this match up as well, since its high attack is really hard for Blackwing players to get over. Bottomless will also be golden here. Blackwings play very few monsters (usually around 17 or 18), and if you can take out their big beaters (Shura, Sirocco, Bora) then they're kinda screwed.

Sabers might give you a little bit of trouble simply because they're so much faster than your deck, but this is where Royal Oppression and Mind Crush come in, as well as those glorious Book of Moons! Do whatever you possibly can to keep them from getting two face-up X-Sabers on the field. As long as they don't have two on the field they can't Faultroll swarm you, and that is really the only way that deck wins. Side in your Bottomless Trap Holes as well, these will help you stop their Boggart Knight plays. Also, whatever you do, SAVE your Mind Crush for that crucial moment where you know they're going to summon Faultroll. If they manage to get through your Books, Bottomless AND Effect Veiler to summon two face-up Sabers, chain Mind Crush and declare Faultroll and then enjoy the look of horror on their faces.

It sounds like you already know what you're doing against Quickdraw, so I won't touch on that much other than to say that Royal Oppression is again absolutely amazing in this match up. If you can get Oppression up they literally cannot win. If that fails, D.D. Crow and Nobleman of Crossout will go a long way in pissing them off. Be smart about your Crow plays though -- try and save them for those crucial moments when they summon a Debris Dragon and target Dandylion or when they Pot of Avarice and remove one of their targets, because then the whole effect of Avarice fizzles.

Gravekeepers are a tricky deck. I don't have much experience playing against them, but I can almost guarantee their Necrovalley plays will wreck you. You don't main or side MST either, so this could prove problematic. You might want to try and squeeze MST into your side deck somewhere. I can't see dropping anything in the list I suggested though. Consecrated Light and Nobleman of Crossout will be great in this match as well as Effect Veiler.

That pretty much covers everything. Let me know if you have any more questions. Smile
Thank you so much for your help, Roan. I'll try to keep all of this in mind.

Just 'cause I don't think you saw it earlier.
No problem, I'm glad I could help. I really enjoy helping people with this game. I was a terrible, TERRIBLE player just a little over a year ago, and if it weren't for the great people I met teaching me all I know about the game I'd still be awful, so I think it's only fair that I return the favor to other players. Smile

Ah, you're right! I forgot that Searcher is a one star.

I guess you could squeeze One for One back into the deck, but I'm not so sure it would be any good. How many times are you really going to want to discard a card just to special summon a Level Eater or a Scrap Searcher? My guess is not that often.

Oh, and of course, good luck Sunday! Let me know how you do.

Should I take out my Armored Cyberns? I only use them for tribute fodder with Machine Duplication, and Heavy Mech Support Platform is much better for that. If so, what should I replace it with. I use basically a Machina Mayhem Deck with an extra Prohibition, 2 extra sets of the main 3 machinas, 2 more Commander Covingtons and the Reactor trio. I need a SKYFIRE.

Prohibition shouldn't exist in main, only in side.
commander covingtons, sniper, soldier, defender, reactor trio, skyfire are all useless.
Machine duplication and Heavy mech is also horrible.

I run a machina Gadget deck, and machina gadget are definitely the most consistant deck Machinas are run in.

My decklist:

Reccomended notes: On game two, side in as many prohibitions as you want, and declare chimera fortress dragon, as they can take your monsters otherwise. As well, don't leave your cyber dragon out with another machine monster on your field, as they can take that too, without their own cyber dragon.

You're welcome to use this build if you wish, and I hope it helped you. (:
playing at home can't put whole deck too many cards
summon relinquished/raviel/obelisk/skilled dm to summon dm/ blue eyes/red eyes/horus black flame dragon/armed drago
main spell toon world+ toon monsters
that's my strategy

I dunno... Salvo Machina and Jinzo Machina are really consistent too.

Hmmm, I guess your choice then?

I don't have too much experience with either, But Jinzo Machina with dead returners is never good. But, I guess the same could be said with dead gadgets.

How did you do at regionals Daegor?
(Dec. 08, 2010  6:06 PM)Roan Wrote: [ -> ]How did you do at regionals Daegor?

4 - 1 - 3.

I tied my first game against a Scrap deck, then I swept two Machinas, and a Final Countdown deck. Then I played against a plant deck. I beat him the first game, then I kinda fell apart after he got out Shooting Star Dragon on the first turn of the next game. I never really mentally recovered, and I was misplaying like mad the rest of the day.

Still, finished 47th. Not terrible, at least.
Did any of my suggestions or side deck choices work for you? Did you end up taking the Trapless Scraps to regionals?

Sorry for playing twenty questions, I'm just legitimately curious.
(Dec. 09, 2010  1:47 AM)Roan Wrote: [ -> ]Did any of my suggestions or side deck choices work for you? Did you end up taking the Trapless Scraps to regionals?

I sided in what you suggested, but hilariously, I didn't face anything that I really had to side for. I teched in 2 Royal Decree (I didn't have a third) against the Final Countdown deck, but I won without drawing it once.

And yeah, I was running trapless Scraps.
Well that sucks... haha

Oh well, glad to hear you did well though! Smile
If we don't get a TCG release of Lost Sanctuary, I'm going to be sad.
The only thing I care about in that deck is the re-print of Kristya.
Common Kristya makes me happy, but I really want Master Hyperion and the Agents Jupiter/Earth. I want to try running a Fairy deck.
Im sorta getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh again. So I was woundering is there any good structer Decks to buy?
