So, to start this bit off, I used to do a lot of cosmetic customizations for beyblades years ago, I'm out of practice, and I also don't know enough about the MFB series to know which ones are worth the effort to try and customize. By effort I mean, there were particular types of beyblades used in older combo's that people enjoyed seeing custom paint jobs on. I was ever only able to complete custom paint jobs through practice on the parts as well. I didn't get to do much on HMS stuff, and from my first customization with MFB series of beyblades I'm learning it's a lot harder to paint and I reduced myself to a very basic customization. It's smaller, but that's cool too, I'm liking the detail available to me from the looks of my Storm Pegasis.

Storm Heavens Blade Mod:
One anime I'd been enjoying over the last few months was Chrome Shelled Regios, and while it wasn't the 'greatest' anime out there I found it entertaining. That aside it featured what they called 'Heavens Blades' and there were twelve of them, in terms of weaponry in that series they were amongst the most powerful and it was a prestigious honour to even touch one. I got a good look at the design and color scheme of one of them (the main characters) in the most recent episode and I figured I'd transfer the colour scheme onto my second Storm Pegasis and I thought it turned out well.

Here's my first Beyblade Customization:

Relik

MFB Relik:
Took my first MFB beyblade and customized it because I like doing that sort of thing. I also decided to name it, haha. Pretty basic Silver/Black theme, I'm at a loss on how to make a really nice paint job for the Track and bottom so they're just a nice shiny silver with Gunmetal Black Dusting. I left the Wheel alone for now, but I have the intention of a Gunmetal Black coat when I get more of the paint Smile

Maverick Shooter

MFB Launcher: Maverick Shooter
Took the launcher and kept with the Black/Silver theme. Took parts from cosplays I had lying around really, attached the bottom handle of an old EZshooter Grip and went from there. The miniature Revolver bit was just cool looking at the time, and in the future I may add a resin "blade" to it just because I can. Yes, point infact, this launcher specifically was made as a fantasy launcher, not so much as a legal one.

Also, I'd love suggestions and model assistance, not necessarily competitive, but aesthetics and so forth. Common/popular parts lists would be nice as well, I'd like to toss them on my purchase priority list so I can start practicing cosmetic modification again Grin
All the rules about modification are covered under the WBO Rule Book: http://worldbeyblade.org/Forum-WBO-Rule-Book

Essentially, no modification to a shooter is legal. This includes grips. So your grip is definitely illegal, and as far as I can tell the BeyLauncher you attached to it has been effectively ruined ... it's certainly neat looking, though.
Grin I knew the launcher was lost but I couldn't help myself, it had to be done. Interestingly enough, I built it knowing I may need to salvage the launcher so it's only attached via hot glue. If need be I can remove it at a future date, still and all, I have every intention of getting more launchers in the future so the loss of this one wasn't a big worry to me.

For MFB customization I read earlier about light paint which is fine, but is a light non-textured paint allowed on Wheels? Not much with regards to MFB just yet and that's where most of my focus is going to be.

To be clear about launcher mods too, I should be allowed to paint them right?
Yes, you can paint stuff as long as it doesn't affect how it functions.
Ä°llegal..
wicked launcher, it may be an illegal mod, but thats only in official battles Wink

Matches between friends of course Wink

When you play chess with your friends, don't you play by the rules?
When you play card games with your friends, don't you play by the rules?

Beyblade is the same way IMO ...
I am really liking that grip Grin. Nice job!
Wow. Do you do commissions? I may consider it in the future.

I'm a facehunter rawr!

Eh, in a more serious bit, I like fantasy launcher mainly because of the original series, lots of custom grips/launchers were featured and frankly they were cool. Me and my buddies goal is to finish making a working replica of Enriques Shield launcher. I see no practical uses for it, but it would be cool. I've made a sword launcher before, one where you literally swing the blade to launch the bey, but aside from cool factor, I don't see it ever being usable simply because of the aiming difficulty.

Card games and chess tend to have varying rules, and while I see the logistics behind launcher grips and modding rules, I don't see or feel how my mod specifically breaks the game. Officially I'd stand by the rules but in a backyard match up or casual for fun kind of atmosphere, I could understand custom play/rules within reason. Obviously I wouldn't like to see a beyblade with razors on it or some sort of electrical monster launcher.

In the future yes, I definitely will be doing some commissions. Most will be face/bey cosmetic mods, unless it's a launcher I don't really dabble in illegal mods. The main reason I'm not doing any commissions yet is experience modding MFB's, I'd love to get my hands on more and mod a few more faces/parts before I start offering my services to people, currently I'd say I'm far from my own personal standards.
Well, just be sure to let us know. I've been wanting a custom launcher.
These look pretty sleek I must say!
Isn't the launcher fragile since it's only attached by glue? Confused

Hot glue is amazing resilient, but yes if anything the part where the launcher is attached to the grip is the most fragile part, that being said it hasn't loosened one bit even after a few rough shots. The grip itself has a fiberglass core as well as filling of hot glue (it's heavy @@) and screws where I could. The grip itself is rock solid, but I didn't want to end up losing a launcher if I didn't have a new replacement in time which is why the launcher-grip part is so thin. Once I get more launchers I'll be reinforcing the Maverick with resin and so forth.

Sweet, looking forward to it.
I was reading the rules, so if I used a regular grip on it and added some stuff to the top of the launcher, nothing that affected the grip area or the launcher function (like a sword blade!) would that be legal or illegal? I was certain my custom grip was illegal because it wasn't an official grip, but if had a regular one and just painted it it would be fine right? I assume adding grip tape or any other grip-like stuff to the grip itself would be a no-no. But... yeah, I mean, I really wanna try and add a mini LED light saber or blade on the end of a launcher for a "sword" launcher look one day, it'd be neat it if was legal LoL

Also, what type of beyblades would people like to see customized? I want to expand my collection but more importantly get practice in on ones that people would actually be interested in acquiring. I assume popular wheels like Storm Pegasis and Libra but tier 2 and 3 wheels that look cool be worth the effort to try and paint? :3
ok I'm not meaning this in an insultive way at all.... but dude you destoyed one of the best mfb's with silver spray paint and a permanent marker!.....and it was you're first mfb....

How is painting over something to make it to your liking destroying it?

He can do what he wants.

Actually, black spray on primer, the silver was dipped with a stainless steel and gray mixture I use for my 40k figures. Ran out of gun metal black half way through and had to mix with glossy black, the dragon had to be sharpied though, ran out of black @@

I'm thinking of new paints though, the black on the wheel is chipping Uncertain

Actually... silver spray paint and a sealant would have been easier >>
I want to see a Lightning L Drago`s clear wheel customized. Maybe a purple or black fade from the dragon heads?
So ... do you like, shoot your opponent before you launch with that revolver? Tongue_out
Heavens Blade 'Storm':

So it's my latest paint job that I've been happy with, got inspiration from the colour scheme from the Heaven's Blades featured in Chrome Shelled Regios an anime I've recently been enjoying. I deviated a little from the gold since I actually found I liked this variation of bronze I had amongst my paints, also, it seemed to sit better with the wheel, which I didn't feel like painting. The Track and Bottom are also painted to match, had to cover the RF with tape so I wouldn't ruin it, that endeavor took 30 minutes 'cause I was paranoid @@

I'm hesitant in painting my -only- 90 Track therefore for this MFB in particular it's a Storm 100RF ^^;

I may paint my grip (unmodified) and beylauncher to match this particular scheme as well since I like it so much Grin
That's really freaking awesome! And I was going to say that just painting the Face, Track, and Bottom would benefit you more than painting the wheel since it would definitely chip more at a higher rate, but it seems you already understand that.
To be honest the paint/marker/whatever seems a little uneven in places. I'm wondering whether you've tested it against other blades or not yet? As in, has it been hit and worn by other blades or is that how you finished it?

Either way though, I do like the colour scheme, I wouldn't mind seeing a launcher like that. Smile
