does anyone know why it was abandoned w/o any hope whatsoever? lol...to tell you the truth I thought beyblade was dead until i stumbled across this site today, i hadn't heard of the new beyblade show or any new beyblades for almost 4 years until today.

The only answer people could give you is that Hasbro/Nelvana have not been too interested in Beyblade since 2005-2006. They stopped producing the toyline shortly after TAKARA-TOMY suspended production in Japan around that time.
However, Hasbro should be developing Metal Fight Beyblade in 2010, so perhaps the official site will finally be updated.
